I just ran across this at a perfect time. I really needed this. Going threw a divorce I'm a loner. I've never been on a plane and I'm 37. Its time for me to get out into the world. Thank you so much. I felt like I was really there. I got very emotional. She enspires me.

I”m so sorry to hear about what you’re going through. They say divorce can be even more painful than the death of a loved one. I truly hope you get on a plane soon if you haven’t already. There are so many amazing things to see in this world. My husband visited around 50 countries as a solo traveler before we met, and he has the most amazing stories! There are so many adventures we can experience in this life. If you don’t have a passport yet try Hawaii for your first solo trip. I went with my family (before I was married), and while it wasn’t technically a solo trip, it might as well have been. My family is amazing, but they were there to relax. I was there to experience EVERYTHING. I’d get up at 5am and walk two miles to take surfing lessons while they were all asleep. I learned to Hulu, and was told by the instructor that she could tell I was a dancer. I am, but it was such a HUGE compliment coming from an amazing women sharing her culture with me. Now when I visit I let her know I’m coming, and we dance together. If you’re kind and respectful of their culture and the island the people welcome you with open arms, and you can find friends everywhere you go. Sorry to go on and on, but I really found myself there. I almost didn’t come home… but my mom convinced me to get on the plane. IDK… maybe you could find yourself too. And it might be a baby step to even bigger adventures abroad. Good luck to you, my friend. You’ve got this. I know that you only have amazing things ahead of you in this life, even though that may be difficult to see right now. God Bless.

I have been solo traveling for close to 20 years. And it really is the most magical stress relief you can ask for. Seeing, doing, eating whatever the hell you want, in an amazing area of the world.
This is probably my 10-15th time watching this video. I have insomnia so I listen to this vacation vlog as if it were a lullaby each night 🩵 your videos never fail to bring me peace of mind, you never fail to make us smile. I’ve been to Iceland and it was amazing. I went to the blue lagoon, the waterfalls and the geysers it was amazing and the northern lights were beautiful.
kris is the most down to earth, raw, humane person i have ever seen. This is probably one of my new favorite videos and it almost brought me to tears because of how the raw footage and her being herself BY HERSELF ( My introvert self could never ). I love kris so much 🩷

Even if they're only 10 to 20 minutes they always feel like a safe place that I know auntie Kris will help me with all of the things I'm going through, even if it's just a video, that put a smile on my face, not many things or even people can do that. I'm traveling to Europe in the fall the first time ever(unfortunately Iceland wont be on the itinerary) and I am also doing it to treat myself emotionally and mentally because I have also been struggling with depression. She apologizes for not taking more pictures and videos. That just tells me that she was enjoying time by herself and taking care of herself. I appreciate the wonderful cinematography, the eyes she has to capture a moment to set it up and squared imperfectly so when she moves into the frame she fits. That takes a lot of talent and patience and time. I appreciate all that she did to share this with us.

I dont know why but at times watching this I found myself getting a bit teary eyed. This was a very peaceful and absolutely gorgeous video. Kris looks so happy like genuinely happy being there. Iceland is an amazing and magical place! I had a chance to visit it. As a fan of Sólstafir and a fan of history, one of my destinations was the 1973 plane wreck on Sólheimasandur beach. And yea! People there were so nice! The northern lights said us goodbye. I will back there for sure! Everybody who reads this - have a wonderful day! Cheers!

@@lanecrescent4161 we did a long time ago but dont anymore. We get about 15*-20* on good days but It can go as low as 5 even in summer so do bring good clothing if you plan to visit.

I was in Iceland at the end of July 2022. it was amazing. 1 hop from Vancouver to Iceland, crazy! I'm so glad you got to experience that! I don't know why I didn't see this video pop in my feed until December of 2023. I really enjoyed the blue lagoon, it was good to see you did as well. I was on a solo trip in Iceland too! As 20yo, only with backpack (only free luggage on cheap airlines 😆 not even small suitcase), also 5 days. Probably best trip of my life ❤️ Nothing compares to icelandic nature and landscapes

I come from Iceland. I moved from there 13 years ago and been living abroad since then. I can so relate experiencing this through your eyes because whenever I go back I also feel like a tourist. I've gone to see all those places you were and experienced the northen lights and being bullied by mother nature. It's really something.
Visiting Iceland is really a lottery. The weather dictates completely how you experience the country. You were there of course later in the year so it was cold but other than that you seriously got such a wide range of the nice type of Icelandic weather because most of the time its just gray, gloomy and raining and ALSO windy. You got bot the calm and the extreme winds but on clear sunny days. It makes the experience even more "authentic" in my opinion.
I am glad you mentioned the cousine. I have traveled all over the world and I still think that generally Iceland has the best tasting food over all. Minus the fermented shark. By the way - you got many points in my book for even putting that thing even in your mouth. I have only eaten it once and I had to be pretty drunk to do it.
Next time you go to Iceland, I would highly recommend renting a car, taking much longer time, maybe 2 weeks, and see the rest of the country. The nature changes drastically depending on where you are and it just gets more and more spectacular the further you go from Reykjavík.
If you want pointers on what to see or do next time you go, I'd be happy to share with you some secrets. For example. Did you know there is another lagoon like the blue lagoon which is locally known as the green lagoon and there are even naturally formed caves with natural hot water at consistant 40-45 C in them spread throughout lava fields?

My wife passed almost 2 years ago and I have been wanting to travel for most of my life but she never wanted to go anywhere. I'm not like Kris, I don't want to travel alone and I would never travel with strangers but this video makes me rethink the travelling alone aspect, because even if I can't share it with someone at the time I am experiencing it, I can still share it via a GoPro or a decent cell phone and some attachments. I don't have to force my family and friends to sit and watch "home movies" like we did when I was a kid, I can post them here or on FB and let whomever wants to see it, watch it or not. Thanks Kris, this was wonderful and enlightening.
You don't need anyone to be happy, you can travel alone (if YOU want to).

I agree, travelling alone seems daunting and a bit scary, especially after losing your other half. but i think it would be just such a great experience, and a valuable time to think about life and really discover and get to know yourself. after watching this video i certainly want to travel alone, it must be so wonderful and enlightening. i say go for it! hearing your story. just think that your wife's presence might be with you and watching over you.i also think it would be an opportuinty to heal yourself💖 you only live once!
