Elvis wasn't a frontman, he didn't have a band or group. I'm a big Elvis fan and the majority of the singers sand the songs fine, but not with the passion or depth that Elvis did. The two best performances were by Adam Lambert and Shawn Mendes.

I've loved him since as far back as I can remember and would have given anything to have experienced Elvis at Madison Square Garden as you did !! My heart was broken in 1976 and 1977 when my mom was unable to get me tickets...later that year, just a month after I turned 12 years old, my whole world was shattered when he left us. I know that Elvis will always be the #1 king of Rock and Roll. And the people that did the 50th anniversary ( 68 special) will never take , Elvis ' place. I thought only a few where really good, like (Keith urban, John ledgend,& Adam Lambert) but a lot of them really needed to go back to there day job.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion (I’ve already been called a B🤬and I hardly said a word and my Son keeps telling me not to comment so this will be my last) Anyway, imo~ (as well as many others) is that a “tribute” is fine, but they should have never messed with and closed out with Elvis alone doing the original final iconic powerful performance of “If I can Dream” that so many of us love and find sacred. People just don’t seem to get it, we are not disrespecting the others. I just read Steve Binders book about the making of the 68’ special since I got for Valentine’s Day before the tribute and it was awesome. He has a whole chapter ending the book in regards to the song that brought Elvis to his knees and in a fetal position on the floor in the dark recording studio while he performed. You can see that he put his whole heart and soul into this unbelievable song just after the death of MLK and recent killing of Robert Kennedy while they were in the midst of taping the show. He put every ounce of his being into the song that by the end he could hardly speak. Just thinking about the passion gives me chills. It is one, if not my top favorite inspirational performances of his. Personally, it has been hard to unsee what I wish I never saw just in regards to that song and I have been binge watching the original song to erase from my mind.
I just saw on line you can buy the original show on target, Walgreens, amazon, ( Elvis- 68 special ) with all the original stuff with program extra footage, etc.there are books in with it depends on what sets you buy.

I'm excited to see this because I saw the Elvis special as a little girl all by myself, my mom was cooking dinner and my dad was at work. I remember sitting close to my black and white televsion set. This tribute should be fun but I'm very happy and excited to see Adam Lambert especially who by the way was NOT in this video!!! Purple Rain- I saw his concert in Seattle , lived in Oregon. Crawled out my upstairs bedroom window (dad had forbid me to watch him!), down a tree and met friends. Stood in line for 2 days and 1 night, cost $2.50 for the ticket! Was grounded for a month when I got home but it was worth every minute. Funny I was cleaning house all day and blasting my vinyl records(live in the country) of Elvis all day while I cleaned and when I turned on the special I already knew it was going to be awful! Keith Urban was ok then tattooed Post Malone joined him. I’m thinking who in the hell is this with tattoos on his face, neck, arms and who knows where else. Make it thru Shawn ? Butchering hound dog. Jennifer looking and acting like a street walker and butchering another song. Then Darius who like on some songs but not Elvis. Some gal I didn’t even know and finally Blake and he’s ok. I just said to hell with it and turned on the stereo. I personally think they would of been better off to the original special. I didn’t get to see it because I was in Okinawa with my husband . I have the special albums and have watched a lot of it on TH-cam . I best get busy - you have a great day! Long live the one and only KING!!

Probably one of the few people to walk out of an Elvis concert...it was pretty much "reality tv" before there was such a thing. On the other hand I waited three hours for a plane flight delayed Gladys Knight concert and it was well worth it.

I was only 1 when it came out. I hope that this will be as good as the original. I heard at the Elvis 68special that they will honor Elvis & babe Ruth ( medal of freedom) . They also mentioned weather or not pricillia will be attending. plus, all the musician, attrubring to such a beautiful voice and a man that had so much talent. I know that Elvis will always be the #1 king of Rock and Roll. And the people that did the 50th anniversary ( 68 special) will never take , Elvis ' place. I thought only a few where really good, like (Keith urban, John ledgend,& Adam Lambert) but a lot of them really needed to go back to there day job.

Anyway, imo~ (as well as many others) is that a “tribute” is fine, but they should have never messed with and closed out with Elvis alone doing the original final iconic powerful performance of “If I can Dream” that so many of us love and find sacred. People just don’t seem to get it, we are not disrespecting the others. I just read Steve Binders book about the making of the 68’ special since I got for Valentine’s Day before the tribute and it was awesome. He has a whole chapter ending the book in regards to the song that brought Elvis to his knees and in a fetal position on the floor in the dark recording studio while he performed. You can see that he put his whole heart and soul into this unbelievable song just after the death of MLK and recent killing of Robert Kennedy while they were in the midst of taping the show. He put every ounce of his being into the song that by the end he could hardly speak. Just thinking about the passion gives me chills. It is one, if not my top favorite inspirational performances of his.
Personally, it has been hard to unsee what I wish I never saw just in regards to that song and I have been binge watching the original song to erase from my mind.

I just saw on line you can buy the original show on target, Walgreens, amazon, ( Elvis- 68 special ) with all the original stuff with program extra footage, etc.there are books in with it depends on what sets you buy.
I am shocked the this show aired in Feb. 2019 and the #NBCApp does not have this show! Would love, love, love to see the full show!

I'm excited to see this because I saw the Elvis special as a little girl all by myself, my mom was cooking dinner and my dad was at work. I remember sitting close to my black and white televsion set. This tribute should be fun but I'm very happy and excited to see Adam Lambert especially who by the way was NOT in this video!!! Blake Shelton is wrong about the last song. It was always, "Can't Help Falling in Love." Then, we would hear, "Elvis has left the building." I saw Elvis perform LIVE twice. He is the best.

None of these performers can ever capture the intensity of ELVIS, LET ALONE THE DEPTH OF HIS VOICE. I have been an Elvis fan since 1957- yes saw him first on Ed Sullivan, fell in love with the man and his talent AND yes I am old but even tho this was supposed to be a tribute it only proved what an amazing man Elvis the King was. I could only make it thru 20 minutes and turned it off.

Purple Rain- I saw his concert in Seattle , lived in Oregon. Crawled out my upstairs bedroom window (dad had forbid me to watch him!), down a tree and met friends. Stood in line for 2 days and 1 night, cost $2.50 for the ticket! Was grounded for a month when I got home but it was worth every minute.
Funny I was cleaning house all day and blasting my vinyl records(live in the country) of Elvis all day while I cleaned and when I turned on the special I already knew it was going to be awful!

I just said to hell with it and turned on the stereo.
I personally think they would of been better off to the original special. I didn’t get to see it because I was in Okinawa with my husband . I have the special albums and have watched a lot of it on TH-cam .

Probably one of the few people to walk out of an Elvis concert...it was pretty much "reality tv" before there was such a thing. On the other hand I waited three hours for a plane flight delayed Gladys Knight concert and it was well worth it.
