    VIDEO NOT LOADING: If the video isn't loading for you I really don't no why :( I'm reuploading it to see if that helps but it's probably on TH-cams end, really frustrating but if this doesn't work I don't know what else to suggest other than trying another browser or device. Very disheartening because I quite enjoyed editing this vlog.

    I love that u walk your cat instead of letting them go, no surprise kittens for anyone, no lost cat, no cat hit by a car or attacked by an animal, to poop on anyone’s porch, and if everyone did this, millions and millions of birds that are alive instead of killed just off of instinct and not being eaten.

    gosh, i remember being 8 years old and my sister who was 15 at the time owning rats in a small „hamster cage“ (it was very small sadly). we couldn’t research a lot in our situation and didn’t have a lot of platforms to learn from. now i’m 16 and i’ve been researching for 2 years about rats, and am gonna get 2-3 boys for my 17 birthday in 3 months.
    thank you for being here to teach people about animals and giving us good research material and education ❤️

    I'm in the same situation with my new boys! I'm getting them in about a week even though we're moving soon because I just couldn't leave such cuties behind! Plus I'm not likely to find any better rats in my area since all we really have are pet shops and backyard breeders. These boys are from an oops litter but both parents were from reputable breeders so I'm optimistic about their health and temperament. 🤞😶

    Hi Emi, I adopted two male rats and its been an amazing experience for me. The thing is my older rat, Remi is food aggressive... he hides all the food they are fed which makes my other rat, Cami very thin. Because Remi hides the food and Remi is SO much bigger than Cami they started fighting a lot. But one day, I got home from school and Cami had a really deep cut on his upper neck. The fighting and food aggression got so bad Cami has been able to slip through the bars of their two story cage and being able to run free in my bedroom. He always comes around at their feeding time or when he's thirsty but it still concerns me so much. My stepmom helped me wrap the cage in chicken wire which has not helped one bit. I have tried feeding them in separate cages but it didn't help with Cami's weight and all their fighting... So I thought it would be the safest option to try to contact you to see what you think I should do. I've changed Cami's diet to lots of fat filled food that is still healthy but his weight number needs to go up quite a bit. Please reply to this comment so I know sensible ways to fix this problem.
    Btw your TH-cam videos helped me learn so much about rats, it's crazy! My dad dislikes rats SO much but the information you have published on your channel helped me adopt my dream pet! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! ILYYYYSM
    Lot's of love and appreciation from my family and angles! -

      It sounds like he might really benefit from being neutered to reduce his aggression towards his friend! I also recommend watching my video called 'is it okay to just have 2 rats' that might help too!

      @@Emiology THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! I trust your advice so much, I bet this will help a lot. Again, thank you so much, you are very appreciated by me!
      Also, would you know any ways to help me help Cami ( my rat ) gain some weight? He can still slip through the bars of his cage even with chicken hire and him eating a lot more food. Like I said above, the snacks I fed him were healthy but it didn't help much! If you know certain foods that help rats gain weight please let me know.

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t use a flexi lead with dogs but he doesn’t pull or suddenly dash forward with force like dogs often do. I tried walking him on just a fabric leash but whilst he was in his backpack it got tangled round his legs to the point where we couldn’t get him out and it was a bit of a nightmare, since he jumps out as soon as you unlock the backpack I don’t dare not having a leash clipped onto him 🙈

      For me the best thing ive done for her is to make access to the cage all the time. If I take away access to the cage she will be terrified and hide. Shes better now with more rats but it was bad in the beginning. Also give her a few hideouts so she can hide if she wants. Be very gentle with her, talk to her in a soft voice and try to give her treats. She'll feel progressively more safe the more shes out but its gonna take some time probably, or she'll always be very scared

    i have had two young mice for just about two weeks now. the smaller one, coconut, i think squeezed through the mesh to their bin cage. i looked around the house but couldn’t find her. this afternoon we are going to buy humane mouse traps, but we think she went into the air vents or walls. the las time i saw her was two nights ago, a bit less than 48 hours. i didn’t see her the one night, and thought she was just staying in her burrow because i haven’t tamed them much yet. this afternoon, i was getting worried and dug for her. when i didn’t see her, i started looking. any advice on finding her? thank you so much i’ll take any help i can get. also, i love your channel!

    I have 2 1/2 year old rats and I hadn’t really planned on getting any more, but now I’m thinking I would like to get 2 more. However, I am so anxious about introductions. I’ve never done it before and my current boys aren’t extremely kind to each other. They love each other, don’t get me wrong, but they play fight very often and it can sometimes get a little heated (never any injuries or anything or course!). They are also a bit skittish, one of them especially. They hate being picked up and aren’t great outside of their cage, they get anxious, so it would just be such a stressful experience for all of us. How should I go about this??

    Hello, Emi, I always look up to yuour videos and especially your animal care. I would like very much if you could address/talk about walking cats outdoors. Some people began to ask me why I watch you if you walk your cat outside, which I found very rude, but when researched about it to try and show them they were wrong, I found that the RSPCA doesn't recommend it... since it is not recommended at all I can't just say "well they can be trained to do it properly and enjoy it" since I used this point when people told me they wanted to do something that "wasn't recommended but could be done" to hamsters or rats, since there were better ways to do stuff for their enrichment that wasn't controversial. I'm in no way criticizing you, actually, I'd love if you happened to give me good sources and points on it that I could use to tell these people to chill, since I trust you. Thanks a lot and hope you are having a good recovery from the surgery

      @Emiology  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People actually asked you that? :o
      I came across the same issue when I was trying to adopt a cat from the RSPCA too, they would only adopt out 8-12 week old kittens that shouldn't be outside yet, and had never been used to being outside, if you were going to give them unlimited outdoor access. I understand for a cat that has already lived life being used to being let outdoors but it was wild to me that they would rather adopt kittens to homes where they could be dead within a year due to a road traffic accident and not to indoor homes that would keep them safe. I will try to do a video on it at some point!

But these arent the same people I was talking about anyway. Just so you know to not take it personally! I keep being a member and watching you tho so dw haha. I'm really glad you took my comment into account!! I hope this video comes out awesomely because I hate when people I like are misjudged, and I can see you take care of Hubble very well! I'm reading into the RSPCA recommendations but they arent very specific about the places you take your cat to, for example, you take Hubble to walk in small foresty and empty (animal wise) places instead of in the city etc right? So this already is safer than the places they are talking about in their recommendations to not walk cata.

      Oh wow that’s interesting! I must be really oblivious because I’ve not seen anyone have a problem with these things so far, maybe it’s on Reddit or something 😂 It seems a very Americanised view to over euthanise everything, I think over there they’ll euthanise mother rats for being slightly protective of their litters whereas U.K. breeders tend to have a softer approach. Some rats if they’re still aggressive after neutering / spaying and all the introduction attempts in the world probably do need euthanising for their own mental well being if they’re really struggling though. Interesting if there’s a community out there really mad over the things I’m saying / doing but not commenting to discuss it with me 😂😂 thanks for being on my team though❤️

      @@Emiology @Emiology actually youre on point, it seems this is a standard view on /r/rats and their discord server, which is US based and they frequently tell us to not go for UK rats stuff bc they aren't accurate. Frankly this while view on euthanasia scared me as I wasnt aware of this type of thought before. Maybe I'm the oblivious one LOL.
      But yeah they wont even leave an opening to discuss what you say being right or wrong, let alone come here comment... you're not to blame though, since it CLEARLY is an extremist mindset. In any case please dont worry, this kind of blind criticism happens to everyone and you replying to my comments, especially the way you are open to conversation, shows you are a good person.
      Dont worry too much and recover well ♡

    Sorry this is your most recent video and I have a time sensitive question. I recently adopted 3, 4 week old ratties and I have 2 1 year old rats should I try and introduce them I hear the younger the better my older rats have never shown any sort of aggression. I'm just worried with how small the babies are if my older boys could kill them.
    Edit: I'm super protctive and could be possibly over thinking this like I'm using the neutral ground method first but still dying of fear.

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 weeks old is way too young to introduce to adult rats you need to wait until they’re 8 weeks old minimum for them to be big enough to defend themselves and have a better chance of surviving if things do go south quite quickly. Between 8-12 weeks old is a good age to do intros with them when they’re a better weight ☺️
