While the angels were basically at a static power level, sinners were massacring each other and gaining strength and experience. Since they always reformed, their numbers were only rising, too. I don't think Lucifer would have actually tried to beef with heaven, but we don't know enough about Lilith to say the same for her and I could absolutely see the Overlords deciding to kick their doors in if they thought they had a chance. We now know that sinners CAN be redeemed, but given that only one ever made it in however many thousands of years, any uprising that might have happened would have taken place long before enough sinners could have been redeemed. We're talking billions of souls, 1 redemption story. Maybe if heaven had actually tried to improve conditions in hell and earnestly redeem them, they could've fixed it, but again: without knowing it was possible or how likely it is to work on a soul by soul basis, the angels could've been swarmed under before that could happen. Tough to say really.
Adam (and probably the entire exorcist army combined) never even came close to standing a chance against Lucifer, but Lucifer didn't show up until AFTER a hellborn demon was injured. I'm pretty sure part of the deal with the exterminations was that they could only attack sinners, so once Adam broke that, the gloves came off and Lucifer could just annihilate him, but his hands were tied up until that point. They never said that directly, but that would make perfect sense and explain why Lucifer wasn't there at the beginning.
This series was a treat to watch. It's nice to see people who are just genuinely having a good time watching the show, instead of putting on a fake persona and acting like standup comedians with bad jokes. Good stuff, guys. Subscribed.

So the idea that Adam could hope to stand a chance against him even in angelic form would be a massive break from the sources they're pulling from. Adam didn't account for Lucifer in the fight because Lucifer allowed the exterminations in the first place and I guess Adam got complacent and took for granted that he never intervenes. My theory is that Lucifer agreed to the exterminations on a condition that his daughter remains unharmed, which would explain why he stayed out of it until Charlie herself was in real danger. It's established in episode 5 that he's got a pretty jaded attitude towards sinners, which may explain, as least partly, why he allowed it in the first place.

The most baddass part about ep 8 for me is Pentious pulling out his 1700s General type shit. Mfer was in the battle commanding the troops and then boarded his battleship like it was a fucking American Navy propoganda anime

He can not be killed by anything lesser than him and Adam is most definitely less than him. So it was THEE dumbest move ever in the history of ever to come at his daughter, especially when the extermination deal specifically says you can't kill any Hellborn, just sinners. Plus the angels were weak as hell because they REALLY didn't think they could be harmed or killed by demons/sinners and sinners thought they never stood a chance so they never really HAD to fight. The rules have changed now tho.

And once Heaven sent him to kill Demons he used it as leverage against Lucifer and Lilith with the threat to kill Charlie if Lilith didn't join him. She never was against Charlie though. Even when she was not returning her calls she was still watching over her. That is why when she got the call in the pilot she immediately sent Alastor to protect her. Now that Adam is dead the deal is off. And Lute was basically threatening Charlie in saying that Lilith had to go back to Hell and get Charlie under control or they would come after her. Thus Lilith will start Season 2 trying to talk Charlie out of her plans. But because they are likely the same plans Lilith was originally trying to do she will eventually win Lilith over. And then Lilith and Lucifer will help Charlie learn how to use her power. Meanwhile The Vees will be the primary antagonist. Emily will be fighting with Sera about what to do and probably talking with Charlie. All while Lute is trying to get the militant members of Heaven to support her starting the attacks again. All this while Alastor is increasing trying to drive a wedge between Charlie and her family in order to control her. While at the same time trying to find a way to break his contract with Lilith. I am guessing that Charlie is going to find a way to break contracts in order to help Angeldust. But once she does this Alastor will use his deal with her to get her to break his contract. And that is when he will go full villain.

There were some interesting anomalies in his death such as the last we really see of him up close is him smiling at Lute. But I think narratively Viv meant for him to be dead. She will probably bring him back in flashbacks. And there is a chance that popularity may bring him back. But I think the story going forward is done with him.

You could have established a different Exorcist leader angel (ie: Makaiel, a made up name for the sake of it), and the role could have been fullfilled the same way. No, Adam's role was not only to be the Exorcist Leader, it was to slowly introduce us to the Original Sin Plotline, and who better to do so but an Angel that falls? The potential of Adam as an ex-angel now sinner trying to redeem himself while exposed to Luci, now Lilith and perhaps Eve, it is just to much to just dismiss in just 3 episodes. But we shall see.

Flashbacks is the bare minimum if Viv decides to keep him permanently dead, I agree. I would take the Ep1 prologue with a bit of salt, as it was purposely paiting with a better light Luci&Liliths cause and I believe it was most likely half of the story embezelled for Charlie and the viewers. Notice that both Adam AND Eve were sidelined quite a lot in the story, I doubt this wasn't intentional. There is much more going on behind the scenes, and as I said, burning a key player in just 3 episodes and just restort to use it as flashback doesn't seem to me Vivs intentions. He was the most sinner Angel, surranded by his own hubris and megalomania (but probably due to the traumas and scars from the Original Sin even), a perfect target to humble and redeem. I think thats also the reason why their masks seemed to glitch. It only happened after they hurt those they arent supposed to.
