The Maruti Ignis comes with two engine options. A 1.2-litre petrol with 82bhp and a 1.3-litre with 74bhp. Both engines come with manual and automatic (AMT) gearboxes. Here is Ashish Masih giving his unbiased take on the Maruti Ignis.
Maruti Ignis is introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. It can be availed in six variants in petrol trim: Sigma, Delta, Delta AMT, Zeta, Zeta AMT and Alpha. The micro-SUV come in five variants in diesel guise: Delta, Delta AMT, Zeta, Zeta AMT and Alpha. The petrol variants are priced between Rs. 4.59-6.69 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi), while the diesel variants start at Rs. 6.39 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) and go upto Rs. 7.80 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). Maruti Ignis is the first company model in India to feature Android Auto feature, while it is also the only car in its segment to come with Apple CarPlay feature. It would be sold via the NEXA chain of premium dealership.

In city 10.5 km/l and in highway it gives 16 easily with AC. Bought Zeta AMT this Jan 2019. Enjoying it both in city as well as highways.
Am 6.1 ft tall and feeling much comfortable.

bannajirocks : Logically you would not. However what if you or someone else in your family already has a swift? What if you just got your first job of Rs. 15 Lakhs PA and in a desperate mood of buying a car which is different from all other cars on road? Maruti marketing team explicitly targeting such people by calling them millennials! IMO it's worth thinking about this car even if you are not amongst their target market segment for the factor of distinguishing yourself from crowd.

No matter what . Ignis ignites the pride of Maruti. Feels like a european accent is styled down to the indian roads. Car looks smashingly retro and Funky in terms of styling. Interiors are a big leap ahead.Maruti has been consistently proving that it's no more daddy's car company. Keep on adding more and more cars to NEXA .... The rear is quite peculiar but going by the overall styling and the Suzuki Designing Standards. The car is overall a great Show off package on the indian roads....!!!!

i don't understand why car companies are hell bent in putting the touch screen technology into cheaper cars (below 10 lacs) ! These interfaces are clunky and laggy to use. Not to mention that there is no option to upgrade the software over period of time. Button layout of Hyundai i20 elite is so much better and faster to use!

Mini cooper founder name is Sir Alec issigonis. Is name ignis related to Issigonis? But the purpose he made mini is to create cheap small good gasoline cunsumption car. Same with my ignis. I use this ignis in indonesia petrol tipe since 2018 that use AGS matic transmition that actualy manual transmition with computer so has only two pedal.
Very valueble money car with price same as the cheapest toyota or daihatsu car in indonesia we get the Nexa car branded from suzuki in india. Imported to indonesia. Very top in gasoline consumption in indonesia 17 km/ L in trafic jam, quiet car , good looking exterior and nice interior design, we get extrem Air conditioner panel, LCD monitor music player JVC.
I like using AGS transmition we can use manual that can fast aceleration in city and use automatic mode in highway.
In maintanance fee and oil is 1/ 3 daihatsu or toyota. Body plat ignis is so thick, more thick than the highest price Toyota car Fortuner SUV. Ground clearence is high so match with the majority bad road in my country. Before i use Daihatsu Sirion hathback low ground clearance that often body repair because road condition. Now i had driven 40.000 km since 2018

Im 6.1 and want to go for ignis ,but the zeta variant is not having driver seat height adjustment.
Else i have to pay 1lakh more for alpha just becoz of this height adjustment feature.
Is that feature extremely necessary for tall people?
Ignis looks like a slightly modified Ritz. The wheel base , engine and gear box are the same. The gear lever , which is in a mid way position between floor and dash board in Ritz , is shifted to the floor. The mid way position was better.

Need an honest opinion. I have already booked Petrol Zeta Amt Tinsel Blue. I reside in a small town and there will rarely be any city drive, so whether AMT will be the best pick? Or should I convert to MT ?
mridul das : You won't get all the gizmo features including DRLs in Zeta and unfortunately there is no AMT in Alpha. If you love driving manuals and in no need of convenience of AMT during bumper to bumper traffic, can go for Alpha at almost same/slightly higher price of Zeta AMT.

Suhas rk top end variants of both has a price difference of about 80k on road in bangalore. Around 100ltrs more boot space, more legroom, more width, tons of fan boys, dangerously light weight etc in baleno.
Suhas rk maruti don't allow paid media to do it... Hope you understand

u did not reviewed the dashboard features of the diesel version. it is different from petrol 1.2 manual. the diesel version doesn't have that tab and the ac switches are pretty dull unlike the petrol version.

The dashboard of top variant (Alpha) comes with that tab like infotainment system + Automatic Climate Control with those cool looking switches. Any other variant (petrol or diesel) comes with 2-din music system and traditional Air Conditioning switches. I think he just displayed the dash of Alpha in beginning and drove other variants later.

Our favourite 5'10" guy is back with Diet Coke cans and water bottles from home :) Jokes apart, good job Ashish. I am not a big fan of this car when viewed from the sides and the rear. The interiors, however, looks good considering the price point.

Btw Maruthi has given the same car to be driven only in Chennai to all the car reviewers. Was checking another review, Ignis comes with AT(not AMT) in Australia in Alpha version. Europe gets smart screen in lower variants like Zeta. Europe also gets 4WD. Japan gets DCBS and auto lane management. Almost at the same price offered in India. But Indian versions get nothing. Why is that?
