Hey everyone!! We’ve been gone but we’re back for a packed season!! In August we always take a few weeks off to rest, but since we got back we’ve been scheming, filming and editing non-stop. We’ve got several episodes in the can and many more coming. A lot of surprises in the coming months.. much to look forward to. We’re so excited to be back!! Can anyone guess which countries we’ll travel to this season? 🤓

I agree Steffan, thank you for sharing about your friend. I missed my uncle's cry for help, and a couple of days later, he committed suicide. I promised myself that I would never miss the signs again, so I'm constantly being attentive to people's words and asking them how they're doing. Helping those that are struggling get connected to our counselor at work. I work in q hospital so you can imagine the state of burnout a lot of our staff have been experiencing.

This channel is the reason I left the comfort of staying with my parents to move to a state I had never visited (New Hampshire) to take a new addition to my career path (teaching financial literacy in addition to financial advising) to interact with people in a culture I have not had much of any experience before (a semi-rural area instead of the cities I grew up in).
I cannot say if this position was the smartest choice financially. Nor has it been easy so far. But it is in part due to the messages of this channel that I have continued to push myself further. Better.
My first experience with this channel was back when I was 17 (I am now 24), where I decided to strike up a conversation with the people in the 3 hour line with me at the DMV in Pasadena, California. This channel is why I try to talk to my neighbors on any flight. Allowing me to feel comfortable with interacting with the world.

I’m a hospital worker in Japan and was part of a covid cluster, we were immediately whisked to a locked quarantine facility for 8 days with only the possessions we had taken to work that day. I forgot my phone charger:-/ 3 bento boxes a day, basically it was a nice hotel and we were locked alone in our room with the only personal contact a 2 minute check in phone call with a nurse every morning at 7am. It’s amazing how quickly your priorities change, looking forward to seeing what piece of fruit you will get with each meal and cherishing each tiny bite. We’re amazing, each and every one of us, we can do things, we can survive things that we cannot even imagine. Be well everyone.

it’s much easier said than done, but i was in your shoes just in March. I was around people who i wasn’t sure if they wanted to hang out, be my friend, etc. YOU SHOULD NEVER feel that way around people who truly care. it took a few months of reflecting and going on my own journey without any friends, but i eventually found some pretty frickin cool people that make such an effort to include me and make me feel wanted in the friend group. There are people out there that will appreciate you. A bottle of water can be free somewhere. it costs about $2 at shoprite. $.30 at costco. $10 at the airport. It’s not you, it’s the people and places around you that make you feel priceless or worthless. it’s your job to shift yourself out of a bad situation. I hope you can find better people to be your friends, i think you deserve it :)

here's my own experience of what staffan was talking about.
I think it all began when pandemic first came in to our country, which really changed me who i am now. i started to think more about myself, it turned into self-awareness and then into insecurities. i broke up with my girlfriend who i was with for almost 1 year and a half for personal reasons, and around the same time, my father died, because of cancer. i had problems with my friend, school, with the place i was staying. my mom was working abroad and i had no one to lean on. it lead me into thinking "suicide" as days went by. i was alone, i was scared, i was overthinking, the me from before wouldn't even care how he looks like whenever he goes outside. the me now will always care what the people around him think of him. i became someone who i never wanted to become. suicide thoughts was always on my mind. it never left me. up until now, im still struggling and still hoping that one day, i will be okay. yes theory, you may not read this or even see this, but i just want to let you know, you guys were one of the reasons why im still here.

These videos really help me to look at the positives in life, and as winter is around the corner and the seasonal depression is kicking in, these videos keep me going. There are going to be difficult times and you wont always be happy, but there is light at the end of a very dark tunnel. This channel saved me in a way i wouldnt imagine a youtube channel could. i am forever greatful for what you promote, and the amount of people you have saved. Thank you.

Hey Stephan, I loved hearing you talk about helping others and asking for help. I have been the recipient and the giver of help. It gets easier to ask when you practice and it makes giving help seem effortless. Volunteering is a wonderful way to find community if you feel lonely, great way to make friends.
I found out I had cancer that was thankfully treatable. I invited 10 friends to a circle to talk about it and drink tea. We shared stories and set up a group text. Whenever I had a need, ride back from treatment, a pot of soup, walk for my dog, someone always picked up the slack. Now that text thread is still used for others who need support and I can give back! How cool is that?! Oh, I live in Colorado.

I have been watching youtube since 2014, found Yes Theory in June this year, around when I had a tough choice to make, binged watched their video, resonated with "Seek Discomfort" and made the decision to move back to my home country of India after growing up out of the country for 16 years and even more to the southern part of the country (place I have never been and it has a different culture, language and even weather). ALL ALONE. I am currently sitting in my hotel room, teared up because of steffan, alone and lonely, I wish i had someone to just hang out with. Steffan is right, I love to help but i guess this is the first time I am indirectly asking for help.

I have been in a similar situation to you. I moved to a completely new country by myself, I knew nobody. At one point, around Christmas by myself, I felt really low. I put in an active effort to speak to people and find friends and then I very quickly found kindness and offers. The next important thing I had to do was - in the spirit of this TH-cam channel actually - was say yes. Yes, I’ll go to your friend’s party. Yes, I’ll help at your charity this week. Yes, I’d love to come to Christmas dinner with your family. My life went from 0 to 100 and now I have a big and reliable friend network. And if I feel low, I know to reach out to them. Good luck in the future my friend, it’ll get better!

At the start of 2022, I decided I was too comfortable. I imagined later in life, looking back and regretting that I didn't take more risks when I was younger.
After that, it's hard to describe what an adventure I went on. It's difficult, but as long as I remember why I'm doing it, I will keep going. I'm doing it so that I don't look back on my life and think "I played it safe. I wonder what an adventure it could've been."
I hope this helps. Good luck on your adventure! Sending love ❤ from South Africa.

I can not tell you how much I appreciate this content, I have said it many times to my friends how lonely I am, and they just don't understand. 25 was a hard time for me, too. Just trying to figure out how to be an adult while in an abusive relationship that I fell into at 19. I felt so alone during those years. At 28, I finally met the person I would go on to marry and got the courage to get out of the "relationship" I was in. My husband and I met during each of our darkest times. We had both thought of ending ourselves during those difficult years. Fortunately we hung on. I sometimes look back on my twenties and feel angry, but then I remember I had to go through the storm before I could see the sun and the rainbow. You are not alone. Your feelings are valid. You are valuable. ❤

After losing my mother at a young age due to the same circumstances Stephan was talking about it actually made me really happy to hear his thoughts about it and what he does to help other people, how sometimes the loss of loved ones can inspire us to help others and help ourselves, it is such a great and depressing moment for a person, but at the same time it is a great gift if you just look in the right spots, my mother loved birds, so I always think of her when birds land close to me, I have gotten way more aware of it afterwards.

Wow guys … this video had it all. The depth, the reflection, the goofyness and silliness, the inspiration. I am so glad that you got to have this profound experience, in a place where you may have least expected it. I once got locked up in a Thai field-hospital for 8 days (involuntarily) and ended up having a similar experience. In retrospect it was the best thing that could have happened to me at the time, and I am so grateful that it happened.
Thank you for reminding us to slow down and go phoneless ever so often. To go inward and reflect.
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable. Staffan, sending a massive hug your way ❤🤗. I am so happy that you found your tribe and that you get to notice and embrace the magic and miracles all around you ✨.
To anyone reading this … whatever you are going through. Know that you are not alone. Know that you matter. Know that you are worthy. Know that you are enough. And know that you are loved. Sending you so much love

Damn Staffan, stop speaking to me so directly!
I never ask for help, even though I need a lot of it, while helping my friends as much as I can. To me I only exist to bring joy to others, as otherwise I don't have a purpose. I'm unable to work because of my autism. I became a shut-in because I have such a hard time with people. I tried to "game over" myself years ago, but someone brought joy into my life a little bit every day. And that's when I realized that being that someone for somebody else is my life's purpose. Through the internet I can help people let go of their struggles for a short moment. That's all I need to be happy, or at least I think so.

Yea their lives are miserable for sure.
Not the way to live at all, but I can see why they once acted this way to lift their country and culture out of the 3rd world and into the industrial age.
HUGE props to them for doing that, but now its past time they back off and calm down and relax a lot more, after we help them annihilate N Korea that is.
Then again they should not be resting when they could be killed any day at any time as they are still technically at war yet often don't act like it.
Asians in general work way to hard that's why most asian countries have very high suicide rates in the cities, to the point that factories have had to put fences and nets around the roofs and lock windows because people where jumping to their deaths constantly, like weekly in some places.
Asian cultures are both amazing and honorable, and twisted, slave like, and broken at the same time.

Regular time is kinda easy depending on the facility your in but the SHU is a whole (pardon the pun) different story. I learnt a lot about myself. And everytime the term “seek discomfort” is said, it as motivated me more and more too get out there and live. My adhd and depression have really effected my mental health and even my will to live. I have thought of suicide many times in my past. Over the past 6 months i have been trying to figure out myself and learn about my mind and how i work. I always have been a shy quiet kid and i would always hide my fave or blush when i would see a pretty girl. Ive wanted to ask this girl out for so long but i could never get to it. I always thought i looked ugly or that no one liked me. But thats not true. Ive been battling myself this whole time and i just never knew it. Your videos truly made me change my perspective on life. So i decided to “seek discomfort” and try and ask out this girl. And we have been in a happy relationship for like 8 months. Thank you yes theory for helping me overcome depression and anxiety. Never have I ever asked anyone for help. I'm a man. Asian man. Never will. Never can. It's stressful. It's even kinda depressing at times, but it is what it is. And ive accepted it.

Thanks Staffan, for the words i often find myself in the dilemma of asking for help. I find myself alone amidst all the people around me. I help everyone motivate them for when they are low or i sense a negative energy in them but when i am at my worst i feels so isolated and crumbling within myself , my anxiety starts to kick in my breath feels heavy i want to shout or talk but i can't. There is only silence, watching yes theory makes me feel a bit more relaxed.

Everytime Staffan opens up or talks about his past experiences and relationships with others, I can relate. Let's appreciate the good people around us and let them know that we love them. Life is short we should learn to live it in the most healthy way from all aspects with the most loved ones.
