For my first crochet project, I made a really long scarf. And I thought that was hard at first, and it was just a straight line. You made a whole vest for your first project. Don’t be hard on yourself, there’s tons of people out there that can’t even crochet a straight line, let alone a whole vest.
It looks so cute!! As someone who's crocheted since 2004, major props for starting with something that ambitious for your first project!!
Also, if you ever do another shirt, learn half-double stitch, it'll save your brain on ribbing!

As an ordinary knitter whose first knitting projects were scarves and hats, I'm always awestruck by people who skip the standard beginner phase and instead choose something more daunting as their very first projects, whether it's knitting or crocheting. It's just the kind of coolness I don't have XD Like my friend recently started knitting, her very first project being a pair of gloves with a fair isle pattern and the second project a sweater with a fair isle pattern. I just can't get my head around how she did it lol

Just a tip incase anyone sees this or you do! On the package (paper thing) has the crochet hook size which is recommended for the yarn you’re using, And depending on if you Crochet looser then you’d use a size smaller and if you crochet tighter you’d use the recommended size or bigger!

You did an amazing job! My first project was a coaster that was supposed to be square but ended up circle. It was terrible! Also, crocheting in BLO does take longer than crocheting in both stitches. This was a great video and brought back so many memories!
