I once lived with a male Calico and he was a retrieving cat. I would throw a beer cap, the cat would play hockey with it then pick it up with his mouth and deliver it to my open hand. He would play for an hour or so and was a joy.
That's so cute
You’re actually lucky I’m jealous asf you got to see one
He was an amazing cat and quite love-able too. He loved to be petted and would turn on the purr and dough making machine. I was not his owner and he would only sleep with his owner and his long-haired sister calico. He was very loyal. @@badazzkaz
i currently have female calico cat that does the exact same thing as yours. she's so energetic and playful and loved playing fetch 😅
It's weird . Over here there are like 30 of them. Mostly male . I just tought they were normal street Cats. Everyone just kinda pushes them away
We had a male Calico come through the shelter I work at a few weeks ago. He got quite the celebration.
Awww That’s awesome!!! :3
Lmaoo It was on the news
You got good luck
@@badazzkazwhat news??
I have a male kitten calico . He is the best .
i wanna hug him
Me too❤️
Love calicos, if you ever come across a kitten calico, you should adopt it, male or female
Me and my mom adopted a calico cat female! She was a baby when we met her, her name was Mia but sadly she passed away.
@@FantaIcecreamwithsprinkles Did she live a full life? Or did she pass away young? You should find another in memory of her.😀
@@truenreal365 she lived as a teenager
@Mooni_cat My cat passed away too but I keep fond memories of her that still live on in my heart, mind, and soul. Better to have experienced a part of life with her than without, she was a gift. God Bless 😊❤️
@@truenreal365 aww I’m sorry for replying late! R.I.P pets dying make a fond memory
The very moment you said "he" my brain went "whhaaAAAATTT?!?!"
Not just male calico cats but also female orange tabby cats are also rare! The more you know 💫
Not very rare by comparison. I have Two of them. 😂
@@BlynatThat's because it's just due to a gene being expressed rather than a rare genetic abnormality. If a female has one orange gene, she is a calico. If a male has one orange gene, he's orange. A female needs both of them to express as an orange cat.
Not even close to as rare. Orange Tabbies are like 80% male. Where as this is 1 in 3,000. And they also aren’t born sterile like male Calicos are. Male Calicos have Klinefelter syndrome (having xxy chromosomes like explained in this video) and it’s due to an error in their genetic code which is why they are born sterile and are also much more likely to suffer serious health issues. Orange Tabbies have none of that. They are just more likely to be male but it’s not as rare as a male Calico and have none of those other problems.
Orange females are uncommon; 1 in 5 are girls.
Female orange tabby cats aren't really rare, because I've seen two orange tabby cats on TH-cam, which is Penny (channel is PennytheGingerCat), and Mittens (owner is Briddy on YT)
We had a male calico, my daughter fell in love with him at the vets office so i baught him for her .❤ Clark was a very affectionate cat ❤ Now i have a female calico and she's very affectionate as well,! Even watches movies with me .😅😊❤😊
A male tortoiseshell? Rare indeed.
They actually have the same thing as Calico’s as was explained in this.
In my culture male Calico is good luck my grandma keeps telling me that since I was little till this day she just spoke to me about it two days ago
I feel like my cats won genetic jackpot... I have 2 female gingers and 1 male calico 😂
They say a new born male calico cat will eventually be attacked and killed by adult male cats because once they grow up they will end up all as a leader and dominant of all cats..sorry for my English
Fun fact, humans are also striped in the same way. We just don’t have that colour difference so we can’t tell.
Why so pettable 😍
Because cats feel so great to pet and snuggle, and they don't stink. They also don't lick your face constantly and all the while with horrid breath and slobber. Dogs on the other hand 😬🤮
I have a female and she has a funny habit. If I throw her any small toy or anything else she can pick up.She always brings it back to me like a dog.😂She also likes doing the odd zoomie.
is this a calico habit because my female calico cat always do this. she's so energetic and playful and basically like a puppies that loved playing fetch 😅
I love this color reminds me of chocolate chip cookies
If he is a male calico he is worth a fortune.
The cat equivalent of Kleinefelter syndrome in humans. It presumably occurs in all cat colorations but in the others it wouldn't be visible.
Klinefelter syndrome, not Kleinefelter
@mrpetit2 You're right of course. Comes from trying to spell it phonetically in German, as if the first bit meant small.
male cats with the Disomy X are cuter than humans. God, we look ugly with the XXY chromosome
If you look closely on his name tag. His name is Papaya just like the fruit name
He so cute😊😊😊
I won all the luck in the world when God sent a family to gift me a calico and her tortie kitten for free. I was in the market for a russian blue boy and i got two gorgeous girls that have healed my depression and improved my self esteem and eased me out of social anxeity. I am always thinking of how to reward them, i love my girls so much. (Opera the tortie is on my lap as I type this. I love my life)
My man's really said "what makes this cat special" after showing like 5 different cats
hes like ganondorf
Now i want to be calico cat in my next life 😍😍😍 male 😂
Male😂😂
Fascinating!
So cute
Thks for info😮
I have a black calico cat
I'm crying
I love calicos and have one of my own
Klinefelter's cat
Just realized I have one-
I have a female calico
I had one she was a outside cat and one day we let her go out and...my family could not find her I was crying my brothes to (I'm Emotional about that day)
My calico cat has given birth to 2 male calico cats but my grandfather doesn't want an cat army but he only let 1 male calico cat live whit me but one day i was at weekend's somewhere else and my calico male cat got lost
Very informative. I've only seen one in my 70 years of life. Thought this was a myth. 😮
It's opposite for orange cats, most of them are male, with females being rare. I don't know the genetic explanation.
I wouldn’t call it the opposite because Orange Tabbies are like 80% male. Where as this is 1 in 3,000. And they also aren’t born sterile like male Calicos are. Male Calicos have Klinefelter syndrome (having xxy chromosomes like explained in this video) and it’s due to an error in their genetic code which is why they are born sterile and are also much more likely to suffer serious health issues. what a science lesson for modern times.

I have about 6 in my backyard 2 females 4 males
I have a little tiny kitten and her name is Cleo
so my quesion is , as they are sterile, do they go through heat and be sexually active ??
I need help guys,yk that some calico cats are only grey?i have the same but she is a female cat..
The heck? Is it like clipping a plant how are there so many
My Doctor is a moron, he told me the cat was a female and no it was infact male.
He also knocked up two of my cats, and I can't sue it was 30 years ago.
Yo I got a uhhhhh male pearl cockatiel I heard that those were slightly uncommon
kuting
my male kitten color are mostly white and orange but there's a pretty sizeable patch of black fur on the left side of his abdomen..is he a male calico?
orange and black fur together are the traits of a tortoiseshell/calico cat, it's very very unlikely for a calico to be male though so if your cat is a calico and confirmed male thats pretty lucky!! i think in that case the cat might be more likely to have certain issues though depending on the type of male calico because it's usually caused by being a chimera (one kitten absorbs another before they're born) or having three chromosomes rather than two. make sure to listen your veterinarians though regardless
25 to 75 there's more white spots on my cat's body than face. My cat's body is 75% white and it's face is like 10% of that 75%

I'll like to know how they reproduce.
They don’t
@@katiealexandra7091 hmm! So they all just come to be? The females don't and can't get pregnant? Wow!
Do they have the psychology problems some humans with Klinefelter syndrome have?
Chonky chomosuke
The opposite is true for orange/ginger tabby cats, meaning most cats who have those coats are male.
It’s not really exactly the opposite.
Does it mean that he is an intersex? Is he able to have kittens?
Is calico different from tortoise shell, and if so how?
I don’t know what the differences are between them but they are exactly like how Calico cats are as explained in this video where they need 2 X chromosomes to be one so it needs 2 X’s and a Y to be a male. They are just as rare as calico’s as well (1 in 3,000). What differences they have is not knowledge that I have.
Im getting a callico kitten but we dont know the gender yet
You do, lmaooo you aint special
its a girlie girlll, and she is gonna birth you a tortoise shell like mine did . Sending you love
@@sekinatizuagie379 OMG SHE GAVE BIRTH TO A TORTOISE
he is worth 20k
A neighbor of mine has a male calico kitten! She knows how rare that is. I didn't know he may be sterile.
Even if he wasn't, he won't sire more male calicoes, unless one of his kittens also happens to get the XXY abnormality which will still be a 1:3000 chance. An abnormality like that doesn't pass in the normal course of reproduction, it has to happen on its own.
He might identify as female
Boy Calico cats don't have sperms😅
Most male calico die as young kittens. 😢
Rare indeed
Yeah, animals often can't handle the complications that come with a third set of chromosomes. Plants, meanwhile, gain a lot from it. They often grow larger and bear larger fruits, and don't suffer the same health issues
@@Shifsabre ok NERD 💜
@@Shifsabre
That's pretty sick, didn't know that about plants.

WOW..A TRANS GENDER KITTY..

Sounds like you’re confusing calicos with forties. Talk to a vet.
Not true rarity went down tremendously
He doesn’t know the difference between calico and tortoise shell cats.
@@lorimac0260 I'm pretty sure a calico occurs the same way a tortie does, it just also has the piebald trait on top of the tortie trait.
true calico's have no white
We don't know his pronouns!!!
Unlike humans where chromosomes can be changed at will! Or so done people think. (Well they go something with their brains but I doubt if it’s thinking.)
