For the most part it is based on encounters with Nigerians as South Africans. Had she continued to participate and win the Miss South Africa pergeant (an event named after our country), how would you have Miss South Africa whose identity is questionable. It cannot be I would not even want someone whose identity is questionable being our President or even serving in the military. I don't mind them being normal citizens and even naturalized South Africans doing any other professions but not the ones that bares our country's name including President or Minister for that matter, no ways. Even the American public were well within their right question Barack Obama's eligibility to be the US President. Let me even put a twist to this, do you think the American public would be okay electing a President whose mother or father is Russian? Not even Ukraine would be happy with that. Even the Russian public would not want someone whose father or mother is American being elected President. Such positions that bares the country's name must be left to those who are 100% citizens of those countries, period.
Look , if you said she has a questioned nationality and she can't served the country as a president or military, are you forgetting that we have people in south Africa military born by Namibian and Angolan parents but their South African citizens, now is these people not being recognized in south Africa? I’m glad Chidimma accepted the invitation. She was not just a good competitor, she was great. There is no reason she should give up all her preparation for the South African pageant and her hopes and aspirations, and wait another year to compete. Why should she defer her life? She was clearly a frontrunner and should not be held accountable for her mother’s “sins”, and her desire to better her life in another region of Africa. Imagine being forced to commit an illegal act to secure a better life on a continent where your ancestors roamed freely for thousands of years. South Africa’s behavior feels rather petty, whereas Nigeria’s move makes them look magnanimous. Imagine that Chidimma's only connection to Nigeria is through her father. @@jameskillu9171 Sometimes there is no need to comment and look foolish you won't die .
How can you compare with Trevor Noa , his mother is a born SA, chidimmas parents are both not, so you guys don’t know what you’re talking about. And I’m South African too and I don’t hate foreigners ,
I, too, am a victim of identity theft, and it has caused me significant hardship as a South African. My identity was stolen, impacting not only my future but also the future of my children and the legacy I hope to build. As South Africans, we need justice. This situation has gone on for too long. @newzroomafrica @bbcnewsafrica
Indeed as a Nigerian, I believe people must know their boundaries and respect their host countries that they go to. Why would her Mozambique mother steal someone's identity to live illegally in South Africa, even with her father being Nigerian?. Please this is clearly wrong, and i don't see how she would be South African based on this.
The only way she could be claimed as South African is based on her birth in South Africa. However, it is quite dicey for a high profile situation to represent the country in a pageant. This includes culturally and socially.
We must respect that there is merit in the opinions of South Africans on this subject, and sincerely speaking, if the tables were turned; other African countries would feel the same way..
This time South Africa fails. What happen to mercy and goodwill. South Africa has sown a bad seed.
She's stunning. SA's loss.
Honestly i don't like the way yiu guys speak about nigerians , how can africans be fighting their fellow africans , that is stupidity, i am south African but the hate is too much pls
MISINFORMATION ALERT! Father Nigerian. Mother Mozambiquan
In SA we have whites who are Greeks , Portuguese , Dutch , to be a SA citizen, Trevor Noah was born and bred in SA to a SA Xhosa mother , this Chidima cant she speaks one of the native languages, what is her Clan Name cause all of us we have Clan Name is our pride of who we are and who is she?
Do white people speak native languages?
@@cefasfah85mind your own business, do the Yorubas and Igbos speak each other's languages there in naija???😂😂😂
when Chidimma was doing nothing, she was South African and every south african was at peace.
Next episode talk about how same Nigerians have ruined their relationship with South Africans. Am disgusted by how misinformation can just fly over...
Why
BBC must get their facts straight....pathetic journalism
Trevor was born here and grew up here.
Same with Chidinma Adetshina. What's your point?
@@Debanize her mother stole someones id and used it as her own . Trevor mother is a Xhosa woman from the Cape.Tshidimas mom from Mozambique . She have ruined her daughters life .
@@jennifertshifura3691 Don't be an idiot! She was born in Soweto and has not lived in any other country but South Africa. South African citizenship is also granted by birth. Her alleged mother's actions are NOT her own....and we all know that the story is fabricated anyway.
@@Debanize She was born here but they did not follow the procedure to get the correct documents. They opted to steal someone's id wich is a crime. Tshidima knows nothing as she was a baby when the fraud was commited. It might cause her to be deported to either her fathers country or her mothers country. This is a serious crime we are talking about. If it is true thst the fraud was commited she will.loose her citizenship , her matric certificate and her degree . Chidimma is either Mozambican or Nigerian but she’s not South African. Her mother committed crime towards a South African she stole identity from , how do you ignore that information. This contest is not Miss Africa, but South Africa, we can appreciate her better as Miss Mozambique/ Nigeria when we contest Miss world/ universe. We prefer being represented by South Africans black, white, coloured and Indians. Being a black woman doesn’t make you a South African
Stop apartheid mentality

Trevor Noah went there legally

The child and mother who lost their identity doesn't matter. Just the beneficiaries right??
My brother was a victim of identity theft, everything thing was on hold for 3 years. It was so sad.
How are the xenophobic "riots" going over there in the uk? 😊
The sociologist is talking nonsense. I have a problem with Chidimma because she is not South African. As for Trevor Noah his mother is fully South African and this makes him fully South African. Has this so called educated sociologist bothered to read the law or she is as ignorant as she sounds.
Definitely not Chidimma’s fault, but jumping straight to Afrophobia is just crazy.. And this 5 mins clip doesn’t exactly explain a lot.
This is unfair and some of the facts are not spoken hear. Trevor Noah's mother didn't steal someone's identity while chidimas mother committed a crime. Let's also speak on the crimes committed.
Channels want to act better than the reality that is happening in South Africa. When we lose a child, whom we lose due to human trafficking and the criminals that do that walk with different identities in our communities while we cry. Do you know the pain of walking up and the streets looking for your daughter that you will never see again, while she is being updacted. Think about us first coz the pain is real when u as a parent look like an idoit and die from depression
Point of correction ma'am, she was never given a crown in South Africa she just a contestant.
The subtext here is that everything Nigerian, in South Africa, is suspect. Unfortunately for those like myself (who supported Chidimma), they were proven 100% right, and we are left with egg on our faces.
South Africa has it's own laws. Being born here doesn't simply mean you become a citizen.🤣 Bruh 80% of our country is black what does her race have to do with this. This is not miss Africa it's miss South Africa
But Trevor didn’t enter MR South Africa 😂😂😂
Exactly 😂😂

What a weak reasoning. Did Chidemma steal someone's identity?

The hate is not only towards other African countries, even within south Africa all the miss South Africa from the Limpopo province were bullied and not fully excepted in South Africa. this year we have a contestant called Onalemang her identity was also questioned its just that Chidimma discrimination took centre stage.
