Did you guys look at the year? It was 1966and obviously a totally different style in naturalism of acting. She sings it very well, has a fantastic voice, good technique - and unfortunately is so underrrated.
I saw her do Susanna in Vienna a number of times in '73, which suited her better. Saw Baltsa do her first Cherubino in Vienna - she was wonderful. And von Stade at the Proms who was adorable But please listen to Sena Jurinac. Passionately driven, the best phrasing, fine technique and an incandescent sincerity.
Why is it that all of us mezzos (I'm a lyric mezzo) get trouser roles? I've already done 3..it's like UGH after while...I'd like for the audience to see me as girl once in a while too! lol
OperaBohemian, I see you have 2 minuses, but I have to say I agree with you, and "hormonally challenged" boy is a good way to put it. The quality of her singing is excellent, but as I was listening I almost wished they had painted a bit of a fuzz on her lip to help the image of the adolescent boy getting in trouble with every new girl he sees.
TaurigeJung (Blimey, three years ago). Edith is fine and strong, a pleasure all round . Later I will get someone to explain to me exactly what you mean. For fun, you must google 'ADYA & GEISHYA-CHERUBINOS ARIA Official Video'. You may be startled out of your pants !!!!
Mathis's voice was the kind that Mozart was writing for. Sometimes it takes almost two centuries to get your ideal cast.

Excellent, excellent and excellent, Bravo Edith Mathis, this is real singer
Mathis+Mozart= GREATEST !
Una cosa meravigliosa... musica parole e interprete❤☀!
Beautiful,perfect tempo...thanks maestro!
Yes I concurr also have the Figaro where she sings Susanna..beautifully sung as she is in most of her recordings. Definitely a fan!
Semplicemente splendido. Che misura! Che scuola!
This is real quality. I think it is even better than Frederica von Stade's very. (Sorry Flicka fans). I love them both.
Bravissima, che grande cantante!
Outstanding!
The best I've heard, recorded. Bartoli a close contender, but boy, how straightforward and unaffected this is. It's amazing.
Bartoli, OMG... She actually doesn't sing well.
THIS is excellent singing!
Yes, too bad for the horrible accent.

@@aaaab384 What's wrong with Mathis's accent?
@@aaaab384 a me sembra che abbia un accento davvero accettabile, anzi buono! si capisce tutto
Bravissima :D
Greatest ever!
What a greatr voice! Love this.
God this is too good to be real
the best one!
The best cherubino.
She is a wonderful singer. She recorded a terrific version of "Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor" with Hannah Schwartz (if I remember rightly).
A true TECHNIQUE! =)
woahh, her voice is made of violin strings! Simply magical! :-D
Einfach toll-die Technik und die Natürlichkeit
Che meraviglia!

...because it’s YOUR JOB!!! ...and part of one of the styles of the art of OPERA....and last, ITS INCOME !!!

there is only on c at faccio (its old italian).
In every score I've seen, it's doubled in faccio.

She sings it beautifully, but it's too feminate... she's supposed to be a horomonally challened young boy, not a girl in men's clothing...
Too feminate? I can't see or hear it that way.
There are probably different ways to be a male young teenager.
too effeminate... but well sung
