This is a very unique interpritation of this aria and I really really like it a lot. I'm a huge Netrebko fan and this just cements every reason why I love her.
This is absolutely gorgeous (then again, hard to go wrong with Verdi...) and Netrebko's acting here is simply fantastic- she REALLY conveys the essence of who Violetta is and her conflict here... just wonderful.
To me this has become a legendary production that I love to return to. Although Netrebko's performance is not precise vocally, I still can't help it but feel chills down my spine when she sings, and when she reaches those higher notes, it's such a warm pleasure for my ears. Her voice colour and acting here are something that make me easily forgive her some inaccuracies here and there. Just pointing that out for those who criticise that (although I can see why).
I love this version of the Traviata, and i think this scene is excellently-performed. It could make anyone start to enjoy opera 'ello from ze France - John Clark
Traviata - Ms. Netrebko displayed ample power, coloratura bravura with a marvelous tone Having recently heard Natalie Dessay sing Sempre Libera at the Met Gala, one was impressed by the legato nature of Netrebko's portray in contrast to Dessay's intentional staccato, fragmented phrasing interpretation. Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.
Nasca il giorno, o il giorno muoia, sempre lieta ne´ ritrovi, a diletti sempre nuovi dee volare il mio pensier just love it! can't stop singing! Anna is so great!
Just a fantastic, fantastic performance. Netrebko is not usually a favorite of mine, but an incomparable Violetta she is. The way that she pleadingly, pathetically explains the second verse of Sempre Libera to Alfredo is EXQUISITE. Beyond compare.
thank you!!!! thats what i've been thinking. they all are so critical just because Netrebko is trying to modernize opera to attract younger viewers. If we don't have the younger generation love classical music, then Classical music will die. It'd be a shame to see that happen just because too many people refused to let it change. Anna Netrebko did an amazing job in this opera
This is one of my favourite arias sung by Anna Netrebko. Yes, she may not have the agility of Joan Sutherland, but so what? Her tone is beautiful and her upper register has such an exciting quality!
Good lord she's lovely. Can sing a bit too. The first time I heard her live my knees buckled. And she gets better and better and better. Her Lady Macbeth at the Met fall 2014 was astonishing,
. In qualsiasi caso stupenda. Sarebbe bellissimo ascoltare Oltrabella e Tassinari in un unico post
@ozzcasale - Bravo! Thank you so much for defending Anna. There are so many envious people out there who cannot control their emotions. Anna’s voice is a gift from GOD and she is also beautiful, so some people as just dying to bash her!
What a great voice! What a beauty! ... On the opera stage is not of course ;-)) Bravoooo! The Callas of today! The Inszinierung I think puritan, concentrates on the essentials: a music. Class :-)! Thank you very much for setting!
Ausgetzeichnet! For a beginner, Anna transfered the music she sang to me personally, and that is the essential purpose of music. I became personnaly involved in the aria. What more could one ask?
Netrebko's Anna Bolena at the Met this year was beyond stunning. I had the wonderful privilege of watching her in person on the Grand Opening night with excellent side-parterre box seats right up on the stage. I don't know if the baby-weight gain is to credit lol but the full-bodied roundness, emotion, and increased versatility of her voice enthralled the audience so that we were picking our jaws up off of the floor by the time that she was done with us. My mascara was sadly not waterproof :\.
ok then let's have a modern day set where modern day people would actually be. why is it always 18th century or surreal minimalism and nothing in between?
I really admire all the know-alls who criticize. I'm happy I know no music so I can just sit and enjoy a pretty girl signing pretty songs. Don't suffer so much - If you don't like her....save your livers........ don't open her songs!
I like this a lot, like most of her performances. Appreciation of music is a matter of individual taste, though millions seem to share in enjoying her performances. There is nothing sacred about either the texts or musical scores of operas any more than any other theatre or musical productions. Directors and conductors and singers can vary them for any number of reasons, including health of singers. Go to ones you like, ignore the rest. Negative comments help no one, just generate bad feelings.
Netrebko always amazes me every time time she sings. This by far, is one of the best. The facial expressions and emotions and the way she delivers, gives me goosebumps especially when you listen to a powerful audio, you can feel it.
Even though those two were friends and colleagues, they have so much chemistry on stage. It’s breathtaking! You can really feel that they trust each other and are connected somehow, if through mind, heart or soul. Perhaps I’m romanticising this but it feels like at that time of their career they must’ve been like family to each other (also given the fact that they performed a lot together). Really hope they’re still good friends, even though their paths took different turns!
People hate her because she has the nerve to be very good-looking AND talented. As simple as that. Do not overestimate some people or take what they say seriously ;-)
Anna Netrebko is one of the few artists after Second World War who gave full dignity to Western Erudite Music (in the noblest sense) in the modern world.
greatest violetta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! amazing!!! breathtaking!! i was a little disappointed that she didnt sing the high note at the end, but hey, it still rocked!
YOu need to hear Anna live.. Her voice easily cuts through the orchestration.. and soars above.. Easily. Her voice has gotten much bigger in the last five years .. She is no Callas. or Sutherland, but she is the best we have now. and she now has a good trill as well.
I donno how much of Netrebko's success can be attributed to her looks - surely a little? but she has a great voice too. Very smooth / usually has control.
Her voice is growing. In this clip, you can hear that she's a full-lyric soprano, which is just about what Renee Fleming is, if not a bit bigger. You'd be surprised if you listen to her "Una voce poco fa" here on TH-cam from 1996, she was a soubrette/light lyric soprano. Now, in 2013, she's almost a lirico-spinto. She's already sung a bunch of Verdi arias, and the album is coming out too, and she'll be playing Lady Macbeth and Norma in a few years. The dates are already out.
Please don't over criticize, if your education is on such a level that you are an accepted critic on music, that's great! But, let's just enjoy the performers efforts. After all, it is they who are on stage, and there must be a reason why they are there, so just sit back and enjoy!
that has absolutely noting to do with the fact that you said she couldnt sing the part of carmen........ however, you are correct in the fact that she has only a few overtones. she is still one of the most beautifully talented sopranos of our generation.
Her Traviata sounds more as a furious Brunhilde than an affected soubrette. I LOVE that. Verdi is a VIGOROUS artist, not a VULGAR one. With Netrebko Traviata REALLY becomes the great masterwork it actually is, entering by full right in that lofty category of operas where Mozart, Wagner, Strauss and Berg dominate. She does JUSTICE to this work.
Well, I used not to like her much but she's undoubtedly getting better. She has improved a lot as Violetta. Acting AND singing. And yeah, she looks hot as hell.
This is a very unique interpritation of this aria and I really really like it a lot. I'm a huge Netrebko fan and this just cements every reason why I love her.
I love how she always does modern productions of opera's that are pretty traditional its so awesome.
This is absolutely gorgeous (then again, hard to go wrong with Verdi...) and Netrebko's acting here is simply fantastic- she REALLY conveys the essence of who Violetta is and her conflict here... just wonderful.
This is the best Traviata in decades. Bravo Anna!
I just can't get tired of watching and hearing this beautiful rendition of Traviata.
To me this has become a legendary production that I love to return to. Although Netrebko's performance is not precise vocally, I still can't help it but feel chills down my spine when she sings, and when she reaches those higher notes, it's such a warm pleasure for my ears. Can You precise what is wrong with her signing ?
@@wiktoriaboronI think she sounds fantastic. Not a single hair out of place so to speak ...
My problem with this production of TRAVIATA is not Netrebko's singing(which is magnificent); it's the absolutely bizarre staging!
The best performance ever. Plain, and simple.
Her performance is the greatest one as usual...so perfect...nothing to say!!!
Keep on singing, with pleasure!!!! We love you, Anna !!!
I love this version of the Traviata, and i think this scene is excellently-performed.
It could make anyone start to enjoy opera

Great theatre.
Great talent.
Great Cast.
Great Soprano.
Great Singing by Anna and Rolando.
Masterpiece.

Yes!!!❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
Just a fantastic, fantastic performance. Netrebko is not usually a favorite of mine, but an incomparable Violetta she is. The way that she pleadingly, pathetically explains the second verse of Sempre Libera to Alfredo is EXQUISITE. Beyond compare.
Mi inchino davanti al genio di Verdi! Come ha fatto a inventarsi queste musiche meravigliose, mio dio!
Fantastic!
Love the modern and somewhat non-age based production. This elevates the power of the music, before and now, forever!!
fascinating. I just cant spend a day without watching this sempre libera. it's all so fresh, so natural, so updated.
Anyone else remember when Anna sang this in Princess Diaries 2? :)
She did actually in the movie as a guest cameo
thank you!!!! thats what i've been thinking. they all are so critical just because Netrebko is trying to modernize opera to attract younger viewers. Anna Netrebko did an amazing job in this opera
Oh, I love her, I love her, I love her! This song makes me so very joyful and merry, when she sings it! So clear and young and beautiful!
I think that this is an absolutely awesome Violetta. Her acting really shines here, and her voice is outstanding.
This is one of my favourite arias sung by Anna Netrebko. Yes, she may not have the agility of Joan Sutherland, but so what? Her tone is beautiful and her upper register has such an exciting quality!
yes ❤
Good lord she's lovely. Can sing a bit too. The first time I heard her live my knees buckled. And she gets better and better and better. Her Lady Macbeth at the Met fall 2014 was astonishing,
Please, she's the best!!! is unmatched.
Bravo Netrebko & Villazon.
I LOVE this production. Finally, a staging of an opera that is actually real theater.
I just adore this female!!!! and her red dress!!! she's stunning!!!
The set is so cool. And her voice is insanely powerful.
. In qualsiasi caso stupenda. Sarebbe bellissimo ascoltare Oltrabella e Tassinari in un unico post

i love this performance of anna netrebko! she is my favorite singer !
What power, beauty! Gorgeous!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!
The Dvd and Blueray will become a collectors item. The classic performance of recent times.
Ms Netrebko extraordinary.

shes gorgeous AND the most beautiful opera singer ive ever seen
she is beautiful, young, rich successful and talent edand with a fantastic voice, no wonder some people dislike her
Espectacular, me gustó mucho el vídeo entero . Lo dos veces ❤😘
I'm in love with her voice. This lady, Lisette Oropesa and Angel Blue are the best ❤️👌
I absolutely love this new staging. The director is quite brilliant.
Magica Anna, magica!
What a great voice! What a beauty! ... On the opera stage is not of course ;-)) Bravoooo! The Callas of today! The Inszinierung I think puritan, concentrates on the essentials: a music. Class :-)!
Thank you very much for setting!
Man starts singing, I turn the volume up a little. She starts singing again, and now I have no eardrums.
Awesome. It sounds so effortless.
Ausgetzeichnet! For a beginner, Anna transfered the music

i love this production, not every time they have to be in the same historical costumes
at the time verdi he was writing about modern day people
ok then let's have a modern day set where modern day people would actually be. why is it always 18th century or surreal minimalism and nothing in between?
Anna is the perfect female - the perfect voice, the perfect singing. I just love her dress, it enhances even more her beauty.
Non conoscevo affatto questo soprano:grande voce
I really admire all the know-alls who criticize. I'm happy I know no music so I can just sit and enjoy a pretty girl signing pretty songs. Don't suffer so much - If you don't like her....save your livers........ don't open her songs!
A nice fairy-tale!!
And they all lived happily ever after.
maybe the best Traviata in history of music
That was beautiful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this modern rendition of a classic opera!
Que voz maravilhosa!! Lindo!
lovely performance. Beautifully sang and fantastic staging.
Absolutely stunning work here
This is an interesting take on this opera, but I love this aria and the voice singing it!!! Brava!!

bravissima come sempre...!!!
what a sparkling voice, I love it
Thank you Anna, for having abolished all this sickening spaghetti-rhetoric that infested Italian Opera in the last decades.
Anna y Rolando están espléndidos.
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! ;)

OMG a couple. I wish I where Anna, having Rolando singing with me...
Her charm is contagious. Absolutely Wonderful.
The best Netrebko is here.
magical just pure brilliance what a gift
I don't understand what people have against Netrebko! Aside from a few technical errors, she has a stunning voice.

Ah, remember. This was before they both blew their voices to Hell.
brought tears to my eyes!
Scenografo e registra da mettere in GALERA!!!!
Not only fitting. It is beautifully done. Netrebko has a fascinating acting.
Well, I used not to like her much but she's undoubtedly getting better. She has improved a lot as Violetta. Acting AND singing.
And yeah, she looks hot as hell.
