I just watched all your episodes in one go. Devastated when I realized there was not enough episodes listed to get the bike finished. Please come back and finish the project after you have settled into your new job - congratulations! You are a very kind and generous man to do this. Thank you and God Bless.
I bought a 750 sabre inported from the usa a couple of years ago, and have finally got round to working on it and sought a few tips from youtube. I stumbled on your first post and was hooked, watched all episodes back to back and was crushed to find you have bought a BMW and have postponed the seat/tank fibreglass whilst you have fun. have a heart and think about us who are waiting for episode 9+. ps excellent videos, as an engineer I love your methods.
Can't tell you enough how much I admire your project. That BMW is a superlative ride, btw. Looking forward to the completion of the Sabre, having been impressed with that V-4 motor for years. You sir, are an inspiration. Please keep posting. I'm on my 5th bike in over 40 years of riding and if I had a garage. . . well, you know the story. Cheers, and good luck.
Awesome work Dino. And there I was, near the end of the video, sympathy boiling up in my chest as I realized the bike wasn't going to be ready for Myrtle Beach...and then you spring your new Beemer on us! Sweet ride!
just watched all the episodes back to back pretty much- a great little series, a great idea and some valuable information! thank you so much! i hope you get the time to make it exactly how you want, theres no use in a half arsed job, especially when its just a personal project. again, thank you, this has really given me the confidence to start on my running project! ride safe man
I'll have to admit that I'm kind of anxious to see the final product. Also have the dream of built my own Café Racer, and your videos show a lot 'how to'. I don't mind to wait, just take your time to build that baby!
Awesome work Dino! No hurry! I appreciate all the time and effort you put in to your videos. Watching you work through a problem and seeing your techniques are worth the wait each and every time! Also, congrats on the new job!
Dean,I'm really digg'n these post's, unlike TV these days there's no commercials, I can't stand commercials theses days like drug dealers always trying to push their products onto me & taking up about 70% of the shows air time.... TV has become more about commercialism & capitalism than what the show is truly about these days.... Keep up the good work, you've given me new found ambitions of thinking outside the box & using what you already have laying around to complete a project, I've always been a firm believer in that myself.... Saves money in the long run & recycling becomes a big part of that....
You good sir, are an inspiration to build a kick ass cafe. I always look forward to the next video, you have some real mechanical talent! Arthur from Canada
Great Job Dean! Glad your not rushing the job. "Hangin in there" Oh one thing I was surprised you didn't use threaded inserts for the bolts, interesting.
just watched all 8 videos in one sitting, great series. Love the bike so far, cant wait for more videos I'm learning a lot. Take me as your student?!?!
Killer series. I'm just getting ready to buy a bike. An 800 Dante, or a k1100rs for 4500.00. Not sure what to do, but your videos help in knowing both are the right choice. Keep em coming sir.
wow really good job! congratulation and i hope to see more works from you! you are a really handy man! i really would like to have many tools like you and the half of your talent to making them work! Regards!
Came here for the mechanical stuff and the videos turned into an art project. I would have kept the bike stock and add some accessories. Those V45 motors are pretty awesome and I like the original styling. Still cool watching all of your handiwork.
good vids, I'm in the process of.... well still getting my 83 sabre started, waiting on a couple of parts and working on fitting a new set of gauges and rewiring some stuff. Being a novice it will take months, getting the carbs off and back on was a project in itself. waiting on a part then I can re-check my spark and start it up.
Nice work, I wish I would have made some videos of my 1984 V65 rebuild that I'm still working on right now, People can learn a lot of great tips from this stuff, Like I said NICE Work Man.
Parabéns pelo belo trabalho!!! Esta fertilizando minhas ideias! Gostei do seu jeito de trabalhar, tudo bem simples e perfeito! Ganhou um Fã Brasileiro!
Sucks that you are postponing the tank construction and rest of the bike build but its for a good reason. Good luck with your robot! And I agree with the other guy, sounds like your life is awesome! Glad you got a bike and can enjoy riding any time. Ride safe!
I'm rebuilding a 1992 cr125r from the ground up. your videos are inspirational. would it be harder to fabricate a tank the way you have in your videos for and off road bike?
Hey there, I have a 1979 Honda CX500 Custom and have begun the long and arduous process of turning her into a Cafe. I watched all your Sabre videos, and you have really given me a bunch of new angles to tackle this old beast. I noticed you've mentioned you live in NC, which is pretty cool, since I am stationed there for the next few years. I was just wondering if you've ever done any work on the old CX's? If so, are there any areas that would make a Cafe build extremely difficult?
I know that KBS coatings makes a alcohol impervious tank sealer that works in a fiberglass tank. I know guy that coat all of his bike tanks new or used. Good project
I have a question about you tap trick using the drill press. why did you move the bed rather than just pushing the tap down with the handle while spinning it by hand?
Have you concidered putting a thin inflatable membrane inside the tank to stop cracking being such an issue. You can get balloon like membranes that will stick to the sides of the tank permenetly once inflated.
I'm getting ready to fabricate a fuel tank for my honda cb900, and I'm not sure what resin to use. I have a friend who works with aircraft and he said that I should only use vinyl Ester resin, due to its fuel resistance . I notice in this video you are using epoxy resin. vinyl Ester resin is significantly more expensive. does it really matter what I use?
+HackaweekTV thanks! I figured it would be fine on a motorcycle. I'm pretty sure the vinyl ester is overkill for a gasoline tank. maybe it is necessary on aircraft, given their different fuel and construction regulations. idk... I,m excited to start shaping my form and get some glass down. thanks for the response!
+Joshua Schofield +HackaweekTV Hi, Guys. I need to fabricate a gas tank for my Husky WR250. Epoxy or Vinyl Ester Resin? need resistance for fuel and for impact, because is a dirt bike. Thanks.
Hey Dean, quit crying about the time. Lol...just kidding. I am enjoying watching the videos and I cant wait until you finish. BTW I love the BMW too. Keep the rubber side down and I will keep watching.
Hi You said earlier on in the series that you wanted to shave off the handle bar mounts off the top triple tree I have one that doesn't have them from the factory and I need the one you have would you like to trade?
Hey what's wrong with the imperial British standard.. You can't get the accuracy with metric. Example. One quart of a donkey liver is equal to 2 barley sheckles or a double portion of a quales kidney.. That my friend is shear genius.

I've gotta say, you're an excellent fabricator, and idea sparker.
I'll have to admit that I'm kind of anxious to see the final product. Also have the dream of built my own Café Racer, and your videos show a lot 'how to'. I don't mind to wait, just take your time to build that baby!

Great job! Love what your doing to the tank. It looks sweet. Your new bike looks great too. Really nice...Thanks for the video and take care.

This is one of the coolest projects! Keep up the good work!
Love your accident scenario with gas tanks, answered my earlier question about ethanol eating away the resin
Great project!!! Good luck with the new job, will keep an eye out for the next episode ;)

Thanks. I've got a gauge cluster from a 94 CBR 900RR to install when I get back on the project. :)
Many years of tinkering. I'm self taught. Never went to college. :) Learning by doing is best.
This is starting to look really BA! Can't wait for the next vid!

I know that KBS coatings makes a alcohol impervious tank sealer that works in a fiberglass tank. I know guy that coat all of his bike tanks new or used.
Good project
can't wait to see your next part.. :)
Really like this series, looking forward to the next episode. I curios would that be light in weight or heavier than a regular metal petrol tank?
I have a question about you tap trick using the drill press. why did you move the bed rather than just pushing the tap down with the handle while spinning it by hand?
Metric system rocks!
Have you concidered putting a thin inflatable membrane inside the tank to stop cracking being such an issue.
You can get balloon like membranes that will stick to the sides of the tank permenetly once inflated.

Dude your a genius! Candle Wax! WHODA THUNK IT:) Genius!!!
Episode 9 will be up in about a month.
My mate chucked his Commando down the road it had a fibreglass tank , I patched it back up for him no problem .
tks for yr efforts and time. a hacked Sabre rider-
An estimate towards when the next video will come out?
Dean, also, about how much fuel does your new tank hold? Thanks....
he said in a later episopde that it holds 2 gallons
Actually it holds 4.5 gallons!!
if you would do this fiberglassing again, try peel ply
Thanks man, great stuff!
Hey Dean, quit crying about the time. Lol...just kidding. I am enjoying watching the videos and I cant wait until you finish. BTW I love the BMW too. Keep the rubber side down and I will keep watching.
metric system rules.
Hi You said earlier on in the series that you wanted to shave off the handle bar mounts off the top triple tree I have one that doesn't have them from the factory and I need the one you have would you like to trade?
What kind of cloth / woven math are you using?
In progress!
dude, I'd pay to watch your episodes.
What about the robot Dean?!?!?
yay!
Thumbs up for the metric!
Fiberglass tanks are super common, who would freak out about them?
You're the man~!
Love it Ty
Hold on. Your gas tank is made out of fiberglass/epoxy??? That seems odd.
6 oz. cloth and chop mat.

Oh boy, I just googled icon customs LLC. That place didn't do well. The business is closed and the owner is facing 40 years in jail!
Yeah, but everyone doing DIY like that should have CNC =)
