Love Garrett's detectors...have used the Ace 250 for 15 years...many outstanding finds, excellent customer service, and now I will be checking out the Vortex...
Being such an addicted and avid detectorists not to mention my first metal detector when I was 7 years old being I believe it was a Garrett coin pro or something like that? Had a big green box on the back that used 6 D batteries I believe I still have it I just need to pull it out from the attic but all this being said I would most definitely be interested in showcasing this and using it in some of my upcoming videos in some of my new permissions on some civil/rev war sites. I've used the AT pro and AT max for many years and now I'm just floating around trying new machines and having fun with it. Thank you Garrett for all that you have done and what you still manage to do, you've given me great happiness and memories & I don't plan on stopping anytime soon!!!

Ive been using an AT pro for 12 years now. Its still my secondary machine but the Nox series brought so much more to the table. Happy to see Garrett in that space now and will look to pick one up and put its through its paces!

Wow, this is my next detector. Started with Ace 250, seahunter mk ii, tried 3 other brands but all dead now but my sea hunter is still alive. Want to order vortex 9 plus seahunter big coil.
I sure hope this is as good as the deus 2, Legend, equinox, maybe even the manticore? I started in 1973 with Garrett, owned a few others up to the AT pro, after that, Garrett fell way behind, so I am delighted to see a real effort from Garrett, and am rooting for it to be a winner.

I might never get to try this one as I already have four metal detectors and I don’t know if my husband would be happy if we had to buy another but boy would I love to try one!😊 $600 is really not a bad price for the highest end machine.

It looks good and it’s a real step up from what Garrett had up till now. But if I understand it correctly, only the Vortex 9 is useful in Europe, where we expect to find thin silver and small gold coins?

So, how does the VX9 model compare to machines like the Nokta Legend or the Minelab Equinox series? Was it built to complete with those machines or to surpass them? Appreciate your time, take care and good luck 😎
I think this is more in line with the Minelab Xterra Elite and the Nokta Score models. By no means is this a higher end detector IMO.

As CEO Steve said, this is their first release since 2010. Guess what guys - that's not a good thing. It looks like a nice unit; fairly priced and with some good features. But they are so late to the table with this... And I'm not really sure how I feel about the "upgradeability". IMO it looks nice but I really expected more from all the hype that was put out there
He didn’t say it was the first release since 2010. The AT Max, ATX and the Apex have been released since then.
how good is it at distinguishing gold rings from pull tabs?
dont think there is a detector that can cancel out pull tab and find gold as they are in a similar conductivity. if u dont dig pull tab range you will missed that gold ring...
Testing with fresh nails and not turning the iron on during the nail test are both suspicious lol. Fresh store bought nails are NOT the same as old rusty nails. The recovery speed test had the targets pretty far apart......was not really a good recovery speed test at all. I like the multiple ID lines and thankyou for making a screen us older guys can actually read without glasses. I'm still pretty hesitant.........no real tonal options(it matters), no higher settings adjustments like iron bias, noise cancel, bluetooth listed. The frequency range is too compact to really matter for small gold. I mean it's ok but everyone else is offering a wider range which is more helpful. We'll see how she performs in real test gardens I suppose.

Garrett MDs are no doubt great , unfortunately they have fallen behind the curve. This "new" machine IMHO has closed the gap but not by much. Other than the blue color I didn't see anything "new" or exciting that made me want one.

the buttons are not backlit so you can't see the buttons in dark conditions or night time detection
Oh gotcha! That would be handy To have backlit buttons. For myself, not an issue. I get used to my detectors the button placement sticks in my head.
@@P20588 eventually during time yes indeed you'll remember the outlay of the buttons
on the other hand it would go faster with backlit buttons especially when you go underwater
still some cool tech is a little too simple for my taste when it comes to display outlay but it works and is easy to understand but it's not yet there where I would say I need this machine and what material is the shaft made out ????
I'll keep my ace apex even though it failed me twice 3 bars of battery left the next day go out detecting battery Dead had this twice sure the new machine looks appealing and has stuff to consider there are things I like but this is why I would not go for it no backlit buttons for night time detecting because I did experience how big of a deal it was not having it on my apex not being able to see the buttons big disappointment in dark conditions and no search light build in for the coil I mean nokta has it and I do like it could be a bit brighter thought and no vibration build in
so still lacking garret upgrade that machine put in those last 3 things and it will be sold out like bread on a daily base
otherwise it has stuff I like but the final touches still need to be made therefore I wouldn't buy this new machine
maybe if garret steps up a little notch up with final touches to it then I'll want it but for now I'll pass
