    I am snuggled in bed, recovering from the flu, curled up with my Doggo, watching the Party Duke Show.. This is brilliant! I never saw these shows before. My Parents weren't even born when these shows were popular. Exceedingly smart, television.. Thank You, for sharing! 😽👍

    From watching this series a few times, what struck me about it was that it wasn't silly, and as others here commented: occasionally the endings were both happy and sad...and that's what life is really like, isn't it.

    It's hard to believe any kid traded christmas presents.We only got one 8 dollar limit when we were old enough to understand money and as teenagers we were old enough to understand they couldnt afford them so we didnt get a gift anymore.

      I remember watching this as a kid; Christmas episodes always broke my heart because we never celebrated one Christmas or any other holiday or birthday in my childhood home. But while I was watching, I felt happy for the characters in the show; it was my way of escaping the grim atmosphere of our home.

      Sid Ramin was the musical composer for The Patty Duke Show. He also composed, "Music to Watch Girls By," released by, The Bob Crewe Generation and made a hit by Andy Williams. If you listen to that instrumental, you will note the very same slick style on display. Very talented man, he won an Academy Award for his work helping to score the movie, "West Side Story." Guy was a genius!

    Patty Duke (may she rest in peace) was an astonishingly gifted and humble actor. In her memoir, CALL ME ANNA, she downplays her great gifts at every opportunity. She calls it "luck." Some luck. I wish she'd lived to work with Streep or Lange.

      (Sick Day policy is use them or lose them so people play sick at the end of the year if not used to 'use' them) Plus floating holidays.

    4:20 Then what about the time Martin got “fired” in the series’ pilot episode?

      ???

    • @howardkerr8174
      @howardkerr8174 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Technically, J.R. thought Martin had quit, if I remember correctly. Though he might also have been fired as most sitcom bosses are wont to do.
      I would have to re-watch that episode.
      BTW, another "Technicality" is that in the pilot episode Martin was played by an entirely different person...so J.R. could sort of claim he never fired THIS Martin.

      My family did that once, when I was quite young. On that occasion I flat out refused to go with my family to visit my father's foster mother.
      Of course, that was way back before laws would have been enforced about child endangerment.
