Back in the days of good clean viewing, no bad language. I miss the yesteryear. But thankyou for bringing back yesteryear as i would say you have made a hell of a lot of people very happy and i am one of them. Who else agrees. Cheers from Australia 👍🍻🇦🇺🐨😊
I was a little boy when this aired. All Christmas shows when you're a small child has a way of warming you heart even the smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree has a way of sending a warm happy feeling through you're very soul. My mother and father are dead but boy does it make a person yearn to go back to a happy care free day. I had very loving hard working parents that made Christmas veery special . These happy tv shows were wonderful setting around watching with you're family. I am happy to be able to watch them again thank you for posting them.
David Brown, you have managed to put into words exactly how I feel about those times.......thank you so much! And Merry Christmas to you and may those feelings return to you again and again!
I liked this show as a kid, but it was on School night (Tuesday)and shown at 9:30 pm,. past my bedtime. I got to see it when it was summer vacation and Christmas Vacation
David Brown I just watched this, and then read your comment. I couldn't agree more with what you said about a more care free time! I was around 7 or 8 when this aired.
Thanks for putting this on here to see. TV today has so much foul language and it is nice to remember when it was okay to let kids watch whatever was on. Green Acres, the Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, and even a little later Adam 12 and Emergency all were shows kids could watch and not be exposed to filth. Thanks for posting this.
Mr Ed, Frances The Talking Mule. Lots more. We had the best movies and shows back then, compared to now, they just can’t make movies and shows like they used to. Same with music. Yep, we had the best years.
When watching these old classic sitcoms Christmas episodes, I often wonder what it was like for the actors to make a traditional Christmas show complete with cold and snow, etc. in Hollywood where it was a balmy 70 degrees and sunny! I mean, it makes US feel all good inside but for them, it must have felt SO fake!
We have and are still living thru a moral-spiritual holocaust. We can rebuild only thru the teaching and practice of virtues going forward, especially purity. Tall order but theoretically possible. Nostalgia alone won't help the coming generations. First the truthful negative, then the truthfully positive. Truth.
@Queen of Cameroon Its not so much the fact that the mothers work. Its that most of this generation of mothers are crude slobs who don't know how to act themselves so how can they teach their children civility and manners and how to be a lady.
THIS IS THE WAY I GREW UP,WITH BLACK AND WHITE TV.MY FOLKS LIKED THESE SHOWS TOO. I HAD TO GO TO BED AT 9:00 p.m. BECAUSE I HAD TO GO TO SCHOOL 🏫 THE NEXT DAY. THESE SHOWS CAME ON AT 7:00 p.m. WE HAD SUPPER AT 5:00p.m.& IT WAS GETTING DARK,& THE CHICKENS 🐔 😳 IN OUR YARD,CLIMBED UP IN TREES TO GO TO BED,AT NIGHT.
I remember seeing this show as a child and am so happy to see it again! It sends chills and warms the heart! Thanks so much for the memories! The train ride with the carols always brings a tear! Wonderful times!
Yes it does. Back when you could actually say 'Jesus' on network television at Christmastime. I sure would love to have ridden on that train and had one of Kate's dinners at the Shady Rest.
I love the look, feel and spirit of the old Christmas season. The 40s, 50s and 60s are my favorite. The Old shows and the music of that time makes me want to be there.
Yeah I know . 2011 was without a doubt the worst . But we have to move on . I was lucky enough to meet someone . But still , she feels it as well , so many family members are gone . Even people we loved on TV and the movies are gone . I suppose I finally understand what the older people went through . I guess this is what you call life . I hope you're doing well . Good health and happiness to you . Great show wasn't it ? Yeah I still love trains ! Even planning a Lionel layout finally in my spare room ! lol
machia0705 the older generation I knew were in the prime of their life at my age and happy about life and not despondent about the future and had an extended family network but there were a few older widows who were not invited over for xmas and now I see how terrible it was to overlook them . 2016 will be another bad one.
Man this choked me up. Makes ya feel that feeling on the week of Christmas, school was out till the 2nd, tv shows had the once a year special, the house smelled like tree, the presents you got for your siblings could be under the tree wrapped soso since you were maybe 10 after all( haha)oh just goes on and on to be a 60s kid
Yep. Love to go back to the 60's as a young kid. Hate how this country has gone to the dogs. And keeps getting worse. Then we had uncle Joe. NOW WE HAVE SLEEPY SNIFFY JOE. How times have changed for the worse.
Thank you so much for this!! This brought back great memories of my childhood. This show was one of my favorites. And Merry Christmas to all who read this.🙏🏼🎄
I grew up watching this show, learning the customs of American life in the early 60's ♥ BOY, don't I miss it - even knowing now it was a well-made fantasy.
It was not a fantasy, it was an idealized version of our lives then. People dressed that way, spoke that way, and behaved with a courtesy that young people today cannot even imagine. Find some pictures of ordinary people from the late 1950s or early 1960s on the street in any city. Notice how well-dressed they were. The average person had a lot more self-respect. People didn't swear out loud in public (well, not much...it wasn't acceptable). Men held doors for women and removed their hats when a lady entered an elevator with them, and they had enough manners to never wear those hats (or any hat) at the table. We have become incredibly sloppy and lazy in our manners toward others.
I love this episode- it's SO festive & lovely!! Druckers was decorated & full of Christmas stuff for sale too. The Cannonball at night was beautiful & train trips like that were a common tradition in many parts of the country. 🚂🎄🔔🍃🥁🕯🕊🎅🤶🦌
I'll bet that's where like tourist railroads and railroads that run special Christmas trains got the idea, about how they say what the Hooterville Cannonball does at Christmas, it's a little similar to an actual Santa Claus train CSX runs on former Clinchfield railroad tracks
Beautiful episode to watch especially with the Christmas season here again. Thank goodness for Norman Curtis arriving in time to stop Bedloe from ruining a wonderful tradition of caroling, baskets of food for neighbors & spreading good cheers throughout the valley.
It always amazed me how we (and presumably the people who lived in the valley) could hear all that singing when they were inside the coach with the windows closed! LOL! 😜
COVID 19 WAS NOT A CRISIS,,but a man made criminal crime committed to whipping people off the earth!!!! Only the rich serve!!!!! Almost worked too! Just like in VIETNAM!!!!
I WAS BORN IN 1953,SO I GREW UP WATCHING BLACK & WHITE TV. MY FOLKS WOULD ALLOW ME TO WATCH THESE SHOWS,& THEY LIKED TO WATCH THEM TOO. IN 1967,IS WHEN COLOR TV WAS CREATED.
I just got done watching the first movie/episode of Petticoat Junction. Wow did it bring a smile to this old mans face. This old heart still has a crush on all the girls. Linda Kaye Henning I'm glad your still with us. Much love to you sweetheart of years past.
I've always loved this show, it was best with Kate. When Joe took over it wasn't the same. This episode was gorgeous, nothing like those old fashioned trees. The Cannonball was stunning at the end. I still watch these in the morning. I know all the words to the beginning and end song.:)
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SHOWS !!! This Woke Me Up This Morning On Me TV Around 5:30 !! Very Sentimental & Endearing ..,,, Holiday Greetings 2018 To All Of You. This Is The Best, Every Year !! XXOO Billy Ralph Weeden.
At 13:54 you can see satellite Christmas ornaments on the tree. Our family had such ornaments, which were made of plastic and were virtually indestructible. I still have two of them from our Christmas tree of 1958. Seeing them in this episode brings back wonderful memories for me.
I'd know that train's whistle out of a sound sleep. Try as I might I couldn't get Bea Benaderet's name right when I was young; I kept defaulting to 'Bernadette' until I was in my mid-teens. I loved this show and I enjoyed the opening credits where Kate twangs Uncle Joe's suspenders.
Back when people cared about people even if they were down on their luck. Do you know that during the great depression Eleanor Roosevelt gave instructions to their staff at their town house in New York City to feed anyone who came to the door?
A BIG Thank You for uploading this wonderful show... Would love to ride the Hooterville Cannonball to the Shady Rest Hotel and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the ever so warm Kate , crack jokes with Uncle Joe and sing with the three lovely ladies of the roost. Favorite- Betty Jo, billed here as Linda Kaye, she is creator Paul Henning's daughter. Fantastic man who also created 2 other 60's classic comedys... Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies. As a kid growing up in that decade, these shows were so entertaining- Innocent and clean, what a joy the Christmases were. One more..... Charles Lane here (Mr Bedloe ) perfect casting of this great character actor...BAH HUMBUG !!! LOL !!!

❤ 3:23 I REMEMBER WHEN THEY USED TO MERGE SHOWS, THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES HAD SEVERAL EPISODES OF WHERE PEOPLE FROM PETTICOAT JUNCTION AND GREEN ACRES WERE ON THE SAME SHOW. I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS COOL THAT THEY ALL KNEW EACH OTHER AND VISITED EACH OTHER FROM TIME TO TIME. THERE WAS A CHRISTMAS SPECIAL SHOW THAT SHOWCASED ACTORS FROM ALL THREE SHOWS 5:49
When I first watched this series on tv in the mid-60s as a lad, it was paired (here on UK television) with another series which our whole family enjoyed: 'My Three Sons' (the *original* series - in black and white (like this one) - in that case, with the character BUB the granfather as the housekeeper). The two - 'Petticoat Junction' and 'My Three Sons' (also available for free viewing here on youtube): these made a nice neat little early evening hour of tv light comedy then. I recommend them both - for 're-watching'.. and perhaps reminiscing?
Charlie Lane (Mr Bedloe) was one of the original founders of The Screen Actor's Guild. He was in his 90's when he played a part of a dying man in ER. Several years later he got a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Academy Awards. During his acceptance speech he gave out the name of his agent in case anyone had a part for him to play.
Can't recall seeing this show till 1980's. Grandpa got us our first TV set the year he passed in 1966. I was only 5 then. Dad never believed in TV.How can people be actual in a box? He was born in 1907 and was gradually believing in electronic as reality.
I loved this type of train too. I was 5 years of age when this show first aired and I watched it some times but not always. Yes,it was the train that drew me into watching the show. Another show with old trains that I loved in the 1960's was The Wild Wild West Christmas 1963 was right after the shocking assassination of President Kennedy in November 22
I was very young but, remember this show, as well as Green Acres, some actors and places are the same for both shows, good shows and funny, they don't make them the same anymore.
Yes, Your correct . I think it was this show plus Green Acres, Mayberry RFD, Beverly Hillbillies, and If I'm not mistaken Andy Griffith show had a crossover show where Sam Drucker's general store played a role in it as well as The Munsters,,, I could be wrong on the last show ,the Munsters ,but I know I'm correct on the others.
Beautiful living black and white, just the way we watched it all those years ago!

Absolutely true 🥰
Well put. I'm an adult now, and sometimes I don't want to be exposed to filth, either.
yeah TV and music aren't the same anymore both have foul language
We were so blessed to have these shows ...
Mr Ed, Frances The Talking Mule. Lots more. We had the best movies and shows back then, compared to now, they just can’t make movies and shows like they used to. Same with music. Yep, we had the best years.
This made me laugh, smile and sing. “Petticoat Junction”! 🎹🎻. Great memories of my whole family laying around the front room watching tv together!
Two years after you posted this… 100% concur. A happy happy time.

That's right, one T.V. and the whole family watched together. T.V. stations used to sign off at night
It gets me every time I hear Bea say Merry Christmas...such a sweet trip down nostalgia lane.

I was about 8 when i seen this Christmas show. I love it. I'm 64 now TV sure has changed. Thanks for these old programs
This was a beautiful episode.
I miss America...

Yea I know the trains name it is hooterville cannonball
Better than what is on tv now
Thank you for this show ! When ladies were ladies and guys treated them as ladies .
I agree with you on that wholeheartedly.

Sierra #3, used in more movies and tv shows than any other.
Too bad they didn't film in color back then. CBS was behind on color filming. NBC was on top of it.
Love these classic Christmas shows!
Always loved and enjoyed Petticoat Junction..
I used to love watching petticoat junction, Beverly hillbillies, little house on the prairie, Walton's, etc as a little girl
Absolutely they don't make tv like this anymore

I always loved the intro song!!
Beautiful episode, when this country was still free to say Merry Christmas on tv, beautiful songs as well!❤❤

You know why she pulls his suspenders right? Because that's Uncle Joe he's a movin kinda slow at the junction!

Beautiful how Kate treats the "hobo". We should all be more like that.🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄
Back when people cared about people even if they were down on their luck. Do you know that during the great depression Eleanor Roosevelt gave instructions to their staff at their town house in New York City to feed anyone who came to the door?
She knew who it really was. Not a hobo like uncle Joe thought it was.
Feel sorry for the young generation not growing up with such wonderful tv programs I had todays tv is garbage
I loved this since I was a child. It's my favorite.
.Thanks so much for putting these up. I haven't seen this show since I was a kid. Being born in the 50s this was a treat.

Teriffic show. I miss these old shows a lot.
What a wonderful reminder of yesterday, when life was simpler.
It wasn't so much that life was simpler. People were more civil and kind.
Such a cute episode! Love this show!
That was the BEST one. When CHRISTMAS still was CHRISTMAS....them were the days...were "people" treated each other good......Thank you....
The train lights and decorations look pretty good.

I loved this type of train too. I was 5 years of age when this show first aired and I watched it some times but not always. Yes,it was the train that drew me into watching the show.
Another show with old trains that I loved in the 1960's was The Wild Wild West
Christmas 1963 was right after the shocking assassination of President Kennedy in November 22
I was 4 years old also.
Watching this makes me want Christmas to hurry and get here!. And it's only September!
Almost got your wish,, It's Dec 14th and I still need to get about 5 more gifts. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours. Paul .
such a great episode when tv was warm fuzzy and not full of cheesy mess
I was very young but, remember this show, as well as Green Acres, some actors and places are the same for both shows, good shows and funny, they don't make them the same anymore.
Yes, Your correct . I think it was this show plus Green Acres, Mayberry RFD, Beverly Hillbillies, and If I'm not mistaken Andy Griffith show had a crossover show where Sam Drucker's general store played a role in it as well as The Munsters,,, I could be wrong on the last show ,the Munsters ,but I know I'm correct on the others.
My first Christmas tv show. It was excellent.
i miss Bea. She went so too soon
Miss Benaderet was the heart, soul and muscle of the program.
