I thought that might be Margaret Hamilton but I wasn’t sure until the second scene. That is absolutely the same voice that said, “I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!”
I watched this show when I was 9-11 years old in Osaka, Japan. I wanted to be Patty, but I looked more like Kathy back then. Then, when I was 12, it was time for the class representative election at the class meeting. I couldn't think of anyone's name, and maybe I was desperate to change myself, so I wrote my name and "self-voted." At that time, I was very embarrassed because I was a child, but looking back on it, that brave act made me more energetic, cheerful, positive, and closer to my beloved Patty. I was influenced by her in some ways. Many years later, I moved to the United States at the age of 30. In that sense, the screen Patty I met as a child is my heroine. Thank you, Patty!!
@@rainbowq7611 I see; thank you for answering my question. I asked because my father was stationed there when I was a boy; I admire the Japanese people very much. Have a Blessed evening.
Aww This was the first episode I ever seen one Morning Years ago on MeTv , I didn't even know of the show but since then I've been hooked on it. I watch it from time to time so I don't watch every episode back to back now🤣 It really brightens the times in my life when I'm not feeling all that great. Thanks for uploading these episodes for all of us to enjoy. 💙 Blessings
The dilemma could have been solved by cutting a slice from the first and fitting it into the piece missing in the second cake. Then smooth out the icing. But then we wouldn't have the benefit of this wonderful comedy.
This is a fun one. And not only do we get a famous wicked witch, but there is also actor George S. Irving (as Mr. Hubert Brown) ... an actor whose voice many will remember as the one and only Heat Miser; and also as the narrator for the 1960s Underdog cartoon show, and for the audio tapes of those beloved _Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark_ childrens books from the 1980s + 1990s.
I'm from Brooklyn and my Grandmother Rose's coffee cake would win that contest Hands down. She used to make it with whatever was left over in the fridge.
The amazing thing about this episode is that 5 of the actors all died in the year 2016: Patty Duke (Patty Lane) died 4 days--March 29--after Shannon Bolin (Mrs. Davis)--March 25. William Schallert (Martin Lane) died May 8. Eddie Applegate (Richard Harrison) died October 17 and George Irving (Mr. Brown) died December 26.
Frank Sintra, Jr. (1944-2016) died on March 16, 2016. He played "David Stone", on The Patty Duke Show (1963-1966), Every Girl Should Be Married, Season 2, episode 17, aired January 06, 1965.
@@MrCJ-qz9dl Reread your comment; you criticized her for not understanding that "it takes all kinds to make a society". Therefore, in criticizing her, you are doing the very same thing. See what I mean?
Wow, that's brilliant. But, tell me: if you fix the situation that way, then what would you do for comedy in the episode if the cake hasn't been eaten?
The 60s had a bunch of shows that only ran two or three seasons that became cult classics: patty duke, Munsters, Addams family, Batman, ftroop, car 54, Star Trek, lost in space
@@eduardo_corrochio lucy baked a cake that sank too she frosted the cake cover and tried topass it off until it fell and Viv says Mr. Mooney you can have a slice of cake if you happen to have a can opener...lol classic fallen cake skits!!
Listen at carefully at 4:00 / The Maid's name is Mrs. Williams, and Patty's mother is Mrs. Lane. But at 4:08 Patty calls the maid Mrs. Lane instead of Mrs. Williams !
Patty said there was chocolate in the cake and the recipe Cathy read called for chocolate, but when Patty was eating the cake, I didn't see any chocolate in it. After Patty put the whole banana in the batter, Cathy said it was supposed to be sliced, but I didn't see any banana slices in the cake Patty ate. I think the banana should have been mashed up and mixed in with the batter. Also, Patty said they had to make a bigger cake to compete with Mrs. Davis, so she made more cake batter, but put the batter in the regular size cake pans they had. There is no way that cake could have turned out like it did. To make a bigger cake like Mrs. Davis made you need bigger pans. When Patty was hitting the cake with the pan it should have broken apart, it looked like it was made of rubber. They could have made a cake with more than two layers using the pans they had. That would have been impressive, but it probably wouldn't have tasted good anyway, considering how they made it. The frosting they made should have been a darker color since it had cocoa in it. The kids baking the cake to enter was not exactly honest, but buying a cake to enter was completely wrong. I would like to know how Patty's mom had enough time to bake another cake. And how did the guy at the bakery know who Patty and her dad were and how would he know that Mrs. Lane was making a banana chiffon cake and figure it out to call her. These sitcoms don't have any logical sense to them, but they always have happy endings no matter how dumb they are.
@0:12...Here "Natalie" (Jean Byron) has a housekeeper. On the sitcom *Maude* she is applying for "Florida's" position as a maid. How the mighty have fallen!!!...lol
Wow...I never noticed, when I was watching this as a child , how much of a narcissistic, conniving, deceitful little wench the Patty character was. It interests me b/c I read that one of the show's creators, Sidney Sheldon, had Patty Duke live in his house for a few weeks, so that he could observe her and figure out how to frame a character and premise around Patty for a new show. He said after living with her for a bit. he realized that there were two distinct sides to her personality (she was later diagnosed as bipolar). From those two sides he developed the two characters of Patty and Cathy. Patty Duke later said that Sheldon portrayed the two sides pretty accurately.
I don't believe Sheldon ever called her narcissistic, devious, etc. You are putting your own twist on things. Sheldon and his family enjoyed having Patty stay with them. She was loved by people of all ages for a reason.
I always thought most millennials were spoiled by their parents and dumb as white brad but this teenage girl beat them all. No idea about baking a cake or separating an egg at that age???? My nephew knew how to bake a sponge cake, when he was ten or eleven some years back. I find this episode rather stupid.
i love how their judge just comes up and digs right into every cake with his bare hands
