      Epistaxis ( bleeding from the nostril) can be from a slight bump in the stall , serious bleeding is more likely in a horse that has raced and accompanied with heavy blowing, shaking of the head, but this was most likely just a bump , the Guard’s have due diligence to take the horse in and check , these horses are so well cared for, the Guard is groom , feeds , mucks out, ensures tack is safe etc the veterinarian on site is an equine veterinarian, unfortunately the horses are exposed to protests, sudden noises .

    He’s a lovely Guard , horse bleeding ( epistaxis ) from the nostril may be caused by head trauma,just a little bump accidentally in the stall , unnoticed, the fluid drains in to the sinus , drains via nostril (s)
    Before going on duty the horses may be ridden out , trauma could happen on ride outs too before duty starts early each day
    these horses are so well cared for by their groom / Guard, soldier, an equine veterinarian is on duty / call for these situations , #respect and
    thank you to the lady who showed the Guard, he is a lovely , smiles , good with children especially . Well done guys

      I found my 27 year old gelding in distress in the stable, he was confused and wobbling and his legs kept collapsing. He also had a nose bleed. The vet gave me no option than to have him put down. She said she suspected a tumour interfering with a nerve and that even if he survived a difficult operation, he probably would never have made a complete recovery. At his age, she said it was unfair to put him through it. It was a straightforward decision but still the toughest I’ve had to make, I’ll never forget it. Do not ignore a nose bleed.

They have no idea why this happens just that its what they have to do. I feel as if there should be a rope corden with a release system so if they need to go out they can but it stops tourists swarming the poor creatures like that, no wonder they are nervous.

    • @chrisfirth8610
      @chrisfirth8610 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the uniform and sabre are ceremonial only. When not on Royal duty, the life guards are a light reconasence unit driving small light tanks such as the old Scorpion and scimitar light recon tanks

      @NighDarke ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisfirth8610 I suppose if they wanted to they could get training in how to use a sword, martial arts maybe. Kung-Fu is really good for that, to learn not only how to swing a sword for show but to actually fight with it.

      @Nigh Darke the old saying, "bringing a knife to a gunfight " comes to mind, how would learning to use a sword when a light recon tank is your weapon help ? Royal duties are a small.part of the Blues and Royals and Life guards, same as all the Guards regiments, they are full time soldiers

      First horse taken in for nose, then the protesters came along horse guards side of street beating drums and shouting. Second horse moved in for its and public safety. They move the horses in for all these loud unruly protests.
