    Thank you for the no-nonsense, user-friendly video on how to clean the Dyson V6 and its accessories. The fluffy hard-floor cleaning head was proving to be a particular challenge, and your video was of great help in figuring out how to open the end cap. Dyson should hire you!

      Dyson won't. They don't want you cleaning or repairing your own kit. They want you to just buy a new one.

    Great video, thx. I give my Dyson a deep clean once/twice a year. A few tips... the detachable rollers on the Fluffy are machine washable, really brings them back to life. For the main plastic housing vacuum out the dust, then use wipes and the back of a spoon to dig into all the nooks and crannies, really lifts out all the dirt... just be gentle, especially ariound the motor and you'll end up with a Dyson as good as new!

    I GOT IT !! I managed to get a fingernail between the pointy end of the side cap and body... this allowed insertion of a coin to apply non-destructive pressure, then moved the slotted screw fully ANTI-CLOCKWISE ....the side cover rotated !!
    As I said earlier, its the sticky / tricky latches that are the problem with this machine.
    I can see why they went to the side latch with slotted head screw / latch !!!

    As I pointed out in one of my own videos on this subject, those cone shaped filters always fill with dust, hairs, and other fine debris on the inside, so they need plunging in water several times, and held upside down, so the water drains out and brings out all the accumulated debris inside the cone. Do not assume the filter is clean just by looking at the outside of it - its whats inside it that will clog the machine's airflow. These filters must be washed each month or suction loss will become more severe the longer it is left unwashed - eventually, as Roger pointed out, the motor will start pulsing, as it is choked of airflow from the filter being totally clogged with dust on the inside of the cone.

    I just got the v11 with the soft roller. I ran it over an air vent and a portion of the soft bristles lifted in the corner. Do you know if you can just pop that back in? it is no longer smooth to the touch and I can feel that lifted rubber in a corner.

    Hi roger our fluffy filter was blocked inside, the three tabs at the top can be undone with your finger nails and inside it was full of crud and hair. No amount of washing would remove this. The filter can be removed from the plastic cage.

    • @madabouthoovers9767
      @madabouthoovers9767 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This needs to be done with care, as the thin plastic of the filter housing can be damaged, and the filter will not go back together properly. The filters are not a great design, in that all the crud gets caught inside them and can be difficult to remove.

    • @philwynn8320
      @philwynn8320 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MadAboutHoovers yes i agree the filters are a poor design i found that its best to do this while washing the filter in some very warm water as it makes the plastic softer. When i took ours off there was a large pellet of crud stuck inside.

    You can separate cyclone part from motor unit by pushing two white clips between both parts. Then you can fully wash cyclone part under running water and it will be like new.

    • @ibaisaic

      It should be OK as long as it has dried out properly. If the vacuum doesn’t work after fitting the bin, you will probably need to order a replacement.

  • @judithcox8515

    How can I clean the blue mesh if I don't have another vacuum cleaner. I have lots of dust in there, that brushing alone will not move it all. I'm sure it is affecting the performance of the cleaner. I wash the filter out every month under a running tap, and this is very good. Hope someone can help.

  • @conkshell9445
    @conkshell9445 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine seems to be a Fluffy that's an older / interim model, with NO SIDE LATCHES !!
    Only a slotted screw on left when one turns the head over.
    Have turned that screw at small increments, then tried for movement after each increment / turn. Nothing.
    It appears the side piece on left requires the roller to help in pushing it out. Cant move with normal pressure.
    (I'm not usually defeated by dis-assembly, but this has me beat !!)

  • @LGFITNESS1

    This is what Dyson came up with to replicate the Shark Duo Ion Flex...personally, I think having electrical inputs in the dirt chamber defeats the purpose of a removable dirt chamber, which is to facilitate its cleaning. Considering that Dyson charges quite a bit more for its vacuum cleaners and the fact that they’re now just trying to catch up with Shark’s Duo designs, this Dyson cordless gets two thumbs down from me...not to count that Dyson “missed” imitating flexing of the fluffy’s wand...this cordless design has way too many hard to reach crevices and having to use other vacuum cleaners to clean MOST parts of a vacuum cleaner is rather inconvenient and again, defeats the purpose of what’s supposed to be “effective easy to handle cordless vac”. Shark has yet to design the Ion Flex with removable dirt chamber...but then again, if using a damp cloth is all I can do to a removable dirt chamber, I’m happy to do the same to a non-removable dirt chamber!
    While I love your reviews, in this one you failed to put the Fluffy to the test (after you cleaned it) in order to determine whether dirt clog was causing the malfunctioning. Your introduction implies so and therefore, it’s natural to assume such was the purpose of this video. Considering how thorough you usually are, this was quite disappointing! Nevertheless, thanks. This helped me be even more confident in my decision to choose Shark’s Ion Flex over the Dyson’s Fluffy. Dyson’s designers seemed to lack creativity when naming this cordless as well...lol...Cheers!
