    This solved my problems using a Yale YRD210-ZW-619 with Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 4. I included the lock without first entering the master pin on the lock itself. The device successfully paired but did not work correctly. I excluded the lock and reincluded after entering the master pin this time. It works now. Great vid. Thanks.

    Very helpful! After recently migrating to ZWaveJS I was lamenting the loss of the alarm_level and alarm_type attributes in a Reddit thread. Someone there told me to learn about ZWaveJS events and the HA event bus. After reading about how they worked, I knew that I would be using helpers and a template to extract the info but I wasn't sure how to parse the JSON or whether I could use a template. Finding this video not only confirmed my approach was sound, but also helped me figure out how to parse out the JSON properly (which will help in other projects as well). And it was presented well; not too noob but not to esoteric. For those reasons, I immediately subbed! Thanks!👍 (Oh, I also linked the vid and channel in the original Reddit thread with the solution!)

    Great video but looks like it does not apply to latest versions of HA an dZ-Wave JS. I am running home assistant 2024.5.4 and Z-Wave zwave-js-ui: 9.12.0 zwave-js: 12.5.6 and I dont find zwave_js_notification event type. Do you have updated instructions for latest versions.

      I don't have that lock any more, but I did a quick google search. It looks like it might be related to scene control. See if this helps: www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/10fgld5/zwave_js_does_not_fire_events/

    You didn't get into how to get the info from your FE599. Can you give me some insight on this?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't send the same information. My home assistant can't see the codes coming from that lock. I haven't really found a way to get more than lock status from it.

      @@ThisSmartHouse - That's too bad. I may have to upgrade my lockset to get the info I need. Thanks for the quick response.

      I know what your mean. But this thing has been running for more than 10 years for me at two houses. No one seems to be making smart lever locks much...

    Thanks for trying to help us, but adding locks to Home Assistant is a nightmare. This makes me miss my old Vera system.

    • @ThisSmartHouse

      I loved my vera. But I don't find Zwave JS that much worse. What are you struggling with?

      Thanks to your video, I’ve made some progress, but I can’t get notifications from my lock(s).
      I’m using Keymaster. I can control and program the locks, but I’m having no luck with notifications.

    • @ThisSmartHouse

      So you are not seeing any events on the event bus?

      @@ThisSmartHouse For the fifth time, I unpaired/deleted the lock and the integration, reset the lock, and added it again. Now it works. I'm getting user code notifications. I will follow your video to get status updates from the locks. Thank you!

      Z-wave can get really weird, with security devices I bring the Z-wave stick as close as possible to the lock. Glad you got it fixed!!!

    I am watching this now, looking for a way to easily do things.
    Have you looked at KeyMaster for Home Assistant (previously called Simplified Z-Wave Lock Manager).
    It seems quite good as well.

    Hey, I've noticed that while manual lock/unlock and keypad use fires events HA Unlock/Lock does not. Am I missing something? I know that these were detected when I still had alarm_level / alarm_type attributes. Any way to determine when HA unlocks/locks?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should have an event for being lock / unlocked via RF (all remote un/lock operations).

    Will this work with Zwave JS installed on a raspberry pi using websockets to HA? I can't seem to listen for zwave_js_notification. If not, any other workarounds?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I think there is a Zwave2MQTT project that might be able to translate the event bus into MQTT.

    • @highvoltz
      @highvoltz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThisSmartHouse To confirm - Zwave JS alone will not do that? Need the MQTT. Thanks! (Can't determine with lots of googling!)

    can this be a work around to work with keymaster?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. I've installed key master but I haven't played around with it. It might be able to for some locks but I don't know what data key master requires.
      Once I have a bit more time I'll try to dive into it.

    I did exactly what you showed, it's not that hard, however my lock kwikset 910 when watching the developer tools events it does show "exactly what your's shows. event_label": "Keypad unlock operation, or event_label": "Keypad lock operation. However when I put in the helper along with the automation it's just showing "on" and not what I get under events in the developers tools. why?

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you are not getting anything in the event stream? Did you pair it with Z-wave secure mode?

      No problem. Just make sure you have it connected over secure mode so that way you get all the lock unlock commands.
