Signing PDF Documents with an iPad

  • This video describes how you can sign a PDF document with your iPad (or other iOS device) using either your finger or the Apple Pencil. Many businesses send PDF documents via email and need signatures and other information adding to them. Eliminate all those extra steps of printing out the document, signing it and then scanning it back in. This process takes seconds and gets rid of all that paper wastage.

    What the 😮😮😮😮!!!!
    I didn’t know I could do this. I just used my Apple Pencil to sign 3 legal documents. Thank you!

    The signing part is indeed straight forward. With fillable forms I have the problem that when I want to sign and rest my hand on the iPad all filled in text disappears .

    I am a fellow TH-camr with my own channel.. and I was searching about how to sign a document with the iPad. Did not know it was so simple! I thought you'd get and pay some apps such such those from Adobe!
    Thank you mate for the infos!

      Yeah it’s a nice feature. I think a lot of people get caught out by the fact that it doesn’t work this way with .doc files so you need to save them as PDFs before this works this way. Thanks for the support 😊

    Doesn’t work for me…there’s no pen icon…only share. I have 2021 iPad pro

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you confirm where you have document open? And also is it definitely a pdf? This will not necessarily work straight away with other file types

    What if you got no pen icon?

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you’ve got no pen icon I would suggest that what you have opened is not a pdf, perhaps it’s a word file instead (.doc)?

    Doesn’t work for fillable form. To sign one of those tap pen icon, tap “+”, tap add signature. You can then size and move with a finger (NOT a pencil!).

    • @h3290-g1e
      @h3290-g1e 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine didn’t either at first , here’s what to do this is gonna sound very stupid but I took a screenshot of the document turning it into a photo then sent it back to files I turned it into a PDF there and the symbol appeared.

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the pen symbol isn't appearing it might be because you are looking at a word doc rather than a PDF. Easily done. You can open a word doc in Pages, save as a PDF, and then use this method with that new file. Apologies for delay in response, I don't seem to get notifications for comments at the moment.

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That seems very odd. When you say blank, do you mean completely blank or they just don’t have the markup you’ve added with the pencil?

    Hi Joe, what if while using the pen fingers touch the screen, does the screen distinguish?

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The iPad recognises the differences between the pen and fingers. Most applications will reject the input from fingers whilst using the pen but it’s usually a setting that can be adjusted to taste. Hope that helps.

    Is there something similar on Windows? I have hp envy x360 andHP pen. It is possible to put my signature in Adobe reader, foxit, etc... but I dont know how to sign one pdf document by more then one person.

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m afraid that goes beyond the scope of this video. I haven’t used Windows in earnest for a long time so I’m not really that familiar with what the latest software for things like this would be. There are plenty of good esigning tools online (Adobe have their own in fact) so that may be something to look at for your needs. As for signing with your pen, I would expect you can use draw tools on a pdf with then pen so you should be able to sign that way.

    • @danoles2k

      he's just opening up a pdf on the iPad from the email (using preview maybe?), using markup feature of iOS that works on PDFs and Pictures

    • @Joegreenofficial
      @Joegreenofficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      This requires no app, it's just part of the OS. You can use an app like PDF Expert to do a similar job too.
