- Curious about how to use the Apple Pencil Gen 1 and Gen 2? What’s the use in getting an Apple Pencil if you aren’t using a lot of the features. The Apple Pencil is a great tool and when I got the first generation pencil with the 2nd Generation iPad Pro I only used it to mark up documents. But since iPadOS has had some upgrades and now there is so much more that you can do with it to speed up your work, make you more productive and save you time..
Most tips will work with both the first generation and 2nd generation Pencils and I’ll point out where there are some small differences. It’s important to note that the devices are not cross-compatible, so you can’t pair the first generation Pencil with something like the iPad Air 4, and you can’t pair a second generation Pencil with the iPad 8. .

Have you looked at the XIRON pencil. We are potentially looking at it as a less expensive alternative.

3:37 Screenshot shortcut tip: using the pen, swipe from the bottom (left or right corner) going diagonally towards the center of the screen. voila, screenshot + annotation window.

I recently brought the iPad Air 4 before purchasing the Apple Pencil. Using the Apple Pencil for me is so much more efficient. I love using it to take notes for school and using the Procreate interface. It’s pricy but TOTALLY worth it
It would be great if you would cover the 2 apps, GoodNotes and Notability and emphasize what are the differences between them 😁

I have the newest iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2. I’m always grateful for new tips. This video gave that to me plenty of times. I don’t use Notes enough, and you have shown me new ideas for it. I’m learning how to use “Markup” and am pleased with what I can do with the 2 Pencil. I’d love to see you do one on Procreate/Apple 2 pencil.

On a side note, there is a much easier way to take screen shots: instead using the side.buttons. just draw a straight diagonal line from one corner of the screen

When I bought my iPad Pro I begrudgingly purchased the $124 Pencil as well. Never did I imagine I’d use it so much. I do markups for my sports scores and other stuff. Still finding new tips and tricks.
Thank you so much. I don’t use my Apple Pencil as much but now I will. I am in meetings all the time and I don’t have a consistent process for note taking. Sometimes it’s notepad++, a post it, my dry erase board or Evernote

Dating myself write to text conversion has come a long way since my Apple Newton though my scribble still misses a word occasionally. Apple Pencil 2 on my iPad Mini 6 is far superior than my original Apple Pencil on iPad Pro - combination of the size of the Mini and later iPadOS features. Great video
My biggest tip, which is how I use my ipad pencil - is to disconnect / forget when I am not using it. It'll turn off and save the battery so when I use it a week later or a month later I just plug in to sync and it still has near full power.
Just not using the pencil without disconnecting it, it'll be flat in a few days.

Watching this on my new iPad Pro 12,9" 2021. The Pencil is pretty much mandatory for it as it makes life much easier. The same way as the Watch compliments the iPhone...😎👍

there’s one more function i’ve discovered accidentally while using apple pencil 2, it’s that you can adjust the size ( increase ) of the eraser by sliding your finger towards the tip while holding the pencil, it really saves a-lot of time.

Very very helpful!!! I just subscribed! I literally bought the pencil two hours ago as I saw a nursing student using one in the ICU where I'm an ICU nurse.
You focused on the Notes app but may I suggest My Script Nebo. This is an essential app for me with better handwriting recognition, drawing tools, and inter-portability using either the iPencil or the keyboard. This app also include many other features such as doing math. I use it all the time in my workflow. Wondering why you didn't mention the "button" on the iPencil 2? Thanks for the video.

Great tips! I’ll respectfully add one more: DO NOT let your 2nd gen pencil ‘run dry’. As in 0% power.
If you miss placed or put it away for extended period it honestly will die with no bringing it back. So keep it charged.
I found out the hard way when my toddler managed to skillfully hide it. I found it some time after I bought a replacement ($).
The iPad would recognize it attached but would not charge it for use. Just a little 🍎 fun fact.
It would be great to design a pencil where the battery is replaceable - there are thousands of ‘dead’ pencils as there’s no warning about leaving the pencil in the box uncharged. I’ve got one.

I have the dedicated Lightning to pencil charging cable. I like it better than sticking the pencil directly in to the lighting port on my iPad. I was always afraid of damaging the pencil or the port while it was inserted and sticking out as it was awkward holding the iPad that way.
