When I was beginning to learn Biblical Hebrew I bought a carpenter's pencil from the builders supply. These have a wide, flat lead on them and it was a lot of fun trying to do calligraphy strokes and duplicating what I was seeing and especially helpful in coming up with my own handwriting. I prefer a #2 pencil but a gel pen is nice also. The thing is to experiment and see what works for you. It's a fun language to try to write and I've used everything.. even paint on a rock and a piece of wood! Hope that's helpful!

This is excellent. However I was surprised when showing the niqqud and you got to sh'va and pronounced it with a w sound and not a v sound. Is that not at odds with the Sephardic way of pronunciation?

why do we put a dot inside the bet??
Bet with a dot makes a "b" sound and without a dot makes a "v" sound
