Have you been to or are planning a trip to New Zealand? Let’s talk about it and if you have questions, ask them!
😢😂😂 w😂😂❤❤ rorgri❤😅😂😮❤o😂😢😢❤😢❤
Thank you for choosing our little country Aotearoa New Zealand for your 100th country. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself very much yep our land is adventurous.
Thank you for having me ❤️❤️
Congrats on 100 countries 🎉. I love that you “splurged” for this trip - country 100 deserved it ❤. Your jet lag advice is also the best. Everyone else’s suggestions are too unrealistic for me, but yours makes sense and isn’t hard to follow. Can’t wait to see where you’ll go next 😊.
Thank you! It’s always seemed to work for me, especially when I’m typically on a flight when I arrive at 8am and the adventure starts right away!
The glow worm caves at Waitomo were one of our favourite things (aside from the Hobbiton tour and the WETA workshop tour in Wellington) when we went to New Zealand in January 2020. ETA: I'm dreadfully afraid of heights, so I didn't do any bungee jumping.
I absolutely loved the time we spent north of Auckland in the Bay of Islands and also the day we visited Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf. Rotorua was really cool and even though it rained when we were in Napier, we also liked that.
Awesome! Thanks for that!
We’re going to NZ in December. You have made me even more excited.
Aw yay! I’m sure you will have much better weather than me!
Spent 2 weeks in New Zealand earlier this year and top of our Must Do list is to visit Natures Wonders on the Otago Peninsula in Dunedin, step back in time in the small Art Deco city of Napier, spend an afternoon soaking in the Polynesian Spa geothermal natural hot springs by Lake Rotorua which was incredible! I'm glad you had an amazing time and we hope to go back too!
I’ll meet you there! 😍
Wow! This is one of the best travel advice videos that I have watched. NZ is not in my immediate plans but it might be on the list now.🙂
Glad it was helpful! Thank you! Maybe I’ll start to do this after my trips. Did you like the process breakdown? Packing advice? Or itinerary?
In addition to Milford and Hobbiton (specifically the tour with Bush and Beach - we loved our tour guide Murray!) I’d recommend the Waitomo glow worm caves, Onsen hot pools, the Oamaru blue penguin colony, one tree hill and Walter Peak farm! Absolutely love NZ - now I want to go back and climb that mountain!
Thank you! Lets go back!!
You go queen! An inspiration always! Plus I am impressed you can do a cart wheel and a hand stand!!! Keep exploring!
Haha thank you!
Just catching up! I love this video! A little bit of packing knowledge, itinerary knowledge for that location, price and some vlogging clips! Btw, I LOVE your dress choice for the photoshoot!
Thank you! I was thinking about videos like this when I come back from trips instead of just unpacking :)
@@ItsTheKellys love it
So glad to have you back! Wonderful video! I am a huge LOTR fan, so this tour alone would be worth the trip. And the beautiful scenery! Absolutely stunning!
You have to!
Loved it. Spent part of March and April in Australia and New Zealand. I took the option to use a cruise to get around New Zealand. I’m glad you had a blast, even though it was starting to get cold. Congrats on 100!
Thank you! And sounds wonderful. I’d definitely cruise one day!
That's was an awesome recap!!
Thank you!
It was fun seeing my country through your eyes.
Aw thank you, I’d love to visit again, and for much longer!
Great video, Lauren! Congrats on 100 countries! New Zealand isn't on my short list but I'm doing Fiji this fall.
You will love it! 😍
I need to do this. So cool to see a gal doing this solo! So funny that you were 😅not half wanting to do the bungee jumping but then that had a spot available! lol
I’ve only been to the north island. I would recommend doing the Tongariro crossing. Basically you are waking through volcanos. It is so incredibly beautiful.
You should definitely do the glow worm cave next time you go. So beautiful. My cousin and her husband swam with sea lions. They loved it. Water was way to cold for me. Papados national park is another sight to see. Rock formation is beautiful. We spent 3 weeks in New Zealand. Love New Zealand. Looking to go back in December
*Paparoa ;)

Yeah sorry that’s what I meant. Darn phone. You put one thing in and it changes it to something else.
I’d love to! And 3 weeks there sounds lovely
I only did 3 days in Auckland before heading to Australia and I loved it. Did a wine tour to Waiheke Island and it was great. Stayed free with Points at Park Hyatt and oh how I loved it off the pier. Food was great everywhere and I was in Manuka Honey Joy!! I can only imagine if I had went to other parts of New Zealand
Sounds wonderful!
So great to hear about your trip! I really want to go at some point! ( I'm a big LOTR fan)
You should! ❤️❤️
Then you HAVE to have to plan to go to Wellington! We took a tour of the Weta Workshop and then a walking tour in the forest where a lot of filming took place
You're my hero!
I am curious, how do you get back up to the top after bungee jumping? That is something I always wondered and your video was amazing!
They lower you into a little boat and unhook you!
Sounds like a wonderful trip!
It was! Thank you :)
Congratulations, Lauren!!!
Thank you!
I’m taking a long trip to New Zealand and Australia next year late February to early April. This will include a cruise around New Zealand then over to Tasmania and Australia. I’m splurging on two luxury train rides: the Indian Pacific and the Ghan. I’ve been to both countries before (in 2019) but wanted to see more of Australia. So I’ll be checking out Perth and Darwin. I’ll be taking Air New Zealand flying their economy sky couch so I can sleep lying flat, and will have the whole row to myself. I have friends in both countries so will be seeing them as well. Great video! Thanks for sharing your trip.
This sounds INCREDIBLE!
Would you do an updated video on what are your preferred websites, apps, etc you use for planning your trips? I believe it’s been a few years since the last one and was curious if there are updates since then? Thanks!,,
I definitely could, but it’s all the same ones from the old video! I haven’t changed my ways at all! Haha
@@ItsTheKellys ok thx!!!
I am from the states and moved to Au 26 yrs ago, and was lucky enough to travel to NZ to both islands. Very pretty.
I love it! What an exciting move :)
I’ve wanted to go to New Zealand ever since watching LOTR! It’s always seemed so unattainable and like an overwhelming trip to plan, so thank you for breaking it down! Such a beautiful country 💚
And congrats on 100 countries! 🎉
I’m so glad I can help! I was overwhelmed at first, but I just ended up favoriting my top 4-5 things in Google maps and making a plan from there! :)
100th country!! Congratulations to you! 🎉 🇳🇿
Thank you!
Great Video girl. I never thought about solo traveling abroad although I do it all the time in Texas but mainly to visit family. This video was so well thought out. Yes when I do go, it's easier for me to be by myself so I can go at my pace. But you looked absolutely gorgeous in your fashion shoot. I love how you are YOU!!! Makes me feel better about myself. Keep up the good work. I sent you an email as well.
Thank you! I started solo traveling as a way to travel when no one else wanted to go, and now, I just prefer it for the same reasons you said!
I wrote you back, and no, I didn’t laugh at your old packing ways. I’m so proud!
Are the flights out of Detroit more expensive?? I’d love to solo travel once the kids get out of school. The travel funds are tied up in family vacations for now!
I'd love to see your 100 list of countries you've visited!
100th country 👏🏼🍾 congrats! You look beautiful in your red gown…I would’ve done the same 😂
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Hi @itsTheKellys , Can you please tell me where you found your beach outfit? the cute top and tie skirt? Love your Channel - Thank you,
There’s a link in the description ❤️
Loved your video. First off love your hair straight, looks great on you. Second you are active, the mountain climb you did, if you get winded, or not a super strong person wouldn't it be hard? You are one amazing girl in so many ways. PS what was your blue packing cube. I am finding very limited ones, limited in color. I can't wait if you design some I'd buy yours in a heartbeat. Glad your back in the states. Bet your dog is happy also.
Thanks so much! The cubes are from Roam (I show them in depth in the Roam luggage review)
The hike wasn’t difficult to be honest. I don’t have a lot of stamina when it comes to hiking. This is basically like climbing a ladder, while being strapped in. Hands and feet climbing up! There were 2 tiny petite girls and one older guy doing the climb with me!
I do have a question about “fashion” in NZ. From what I have been reading NZ is basically a casual dress kind of place. Did you find it so? Just like in Alaska, I hope it is very casual and comfortable. That is who I am.
@@christineramseyer4721 extremely casual. I brought “cute” clothes and they stayed packed in my cube the entire time!
@@ItsTheKellys except for the dress 👗 for your 100 country shoot. 😀. Thank you for the valuable information.
I often comment to my iPad/tele when i queue one of your videos but had a full-blown one-way conversation with you at 15:05.
From a travellers point of view, if you are in a new area and you have to get up and go to the loo at 3 a.m. how wondrous to look up at the stars and hear wind, waves or wildlife. It's no biggie, you just throw on your snow boots or whatever you have and put a blanket around you and skip out to the outhouse!!
As a fellow Leo I knew you were adventurous so I'm glad that you took advantage of all of the programs available to travelers in New Zealand. NZ has always been one of my happy places and when I moved to my current location in Seattle, WA the PNW resembles New Zealand so much that when I would post friends thought I was back in NZ! So much of the Oregon coast up to British Columbia resembles NZ. You got to love rain and the colour green though! (We even have yurts!)
As you covered expenses you mentioned saving flying into major airports but have you ever realized the savings in open jaw flights?? Huge savings and a great opportunity not to have to double back and see only new regions.
In a lifetime of personal and business travel I've honestly never suffered from jet lag. I adjust lite meals and I always set either my iPhone or even a Swatch in the old days to the time of my destination.
Oh!! In the last moment you mentioned a campervan! I've done so as they are readily available for rent and they are a fantastic way to see NZ!
_And in closing, I just know someday you are going to report that you no longer travel with dungarees! Impractical IMO for any type of travel, definitely NZ!_
*Glad you enjoyed yourself in your* 💯, *Cheers!* 🍾 🥂 💃🏽
Not that I’ve seen a lot of the PNW, but after my short week in Portland, I was getting PNW vibes in NZ!
@@ItsTheKellysa few years ago I had to spend just over a year in Portland working on a project and even though Portland really wasn't my kind of town I absolutely loved the coast, the mountains, the waterfalls, the gorge, the skiing Etc
California felt like a desert compared to Oregon and now that I'm in Washington I have more mountain ranges to cover !!
I am so glad you had the time to do New Zealand right!
Heading to NZ in 70 days! Spending 3 nights in NZ, then embarking on a 21 night cruise up the east coast of Australia, across the north and down the west coast to Perth. Then flying across the country to Cairns for 3 nights. Really looking forward to Hobbiton, the BridgeClimb in Sydney, Australia Zoo, Kuranda, the Great Barrier Reef, Darwin, Glow worms, and much more. Heading out Aug 10 and returning Sept 10. Trip of a lifetime. Thanks for the packing tips! Not looking forward to the long haul flight from VA.
That sounds incredible!! Enjoy!! I’m heading back to Australia again for 5 days in September before I go to Papua New Guinea! I’m going to dive the GBR this time now that I’m certified, and explore more of Sydney!
Congratulations on country #100!
Thank you!
Do you ever worry about your safety when travelling alone?
I don’t honestly. I prefer to travel alone, and I’ve done it so much. I just keep my street smarts!
So cute you love me
