As a parade clown this episode made me and my coworker realize why kids are afraid of us.
Sometimes yall can be quite scary
Just by you saying you are a parade clown made me scared of you 😂😂
With respect, coulrophobia (fear if clowns) iirc is tied to the "uncanny valley" which is where things unsettle someone because they are similar to things we know, but juuuust different enough that we can't "categorize" it, we don't subconsciously know how to react, and it puts us in a place of unease.
That's where the whole clowns are terrifying thing comes from, or so I've been told.
@@kingnusmi understandable
@@Rammstein0963. thank you. Now I now why kids are scared of me😂
Part of me wished the Girl that liked him would have turned out to be a clown as well. It would have added to the horror of it, and would make her invitations a nice bit of foreshadowing.
I love how most episodes have some sort of karmic ending where the bad kid dies or is otherwised messed up.
But this episode is just 1 kid having his life ruined for no reason. The horror is that he was always going to end up this way
I know homie really don’t deserve that at all in both the episode and story 🤣
Imagine having a phobia and then your friend writes and publishes a book about you, SPECIFICALLY YOU, being tortured and (almost?) killed by that phobia. What the hell, Stine.
That said it IS a really good story lmao
The true horror of this episode is the amount of body dysmorphia and identity issues this kid is gonna have for the rest of his life because his parents hid what he really was until the last minute.
To be fair, his dad tried to talk to him several times!
@@dyrr836it still would’ve been hard to take in
@@kanra2689 True. I like to imagine that with the love and support of his family and friends he was able to conquer his phobia and join the other clowns in making people smile. Well maybe not Kaptain Krazy, that dude's got problems.
@@dyrr836 a somewhat wholesome creepy ending?
Yeah about his body changing. Not that he was going to turn into a whole ass clown@@dyrr836
Imagine if Chris became a mime instead of a clown. Wonder how his family would react to that.
Or he comes out of the box in full jester garb
Headcannon, this is the result of those two guys sleeping with those clowns in Killer Klowns from Outer Space
BWAHAHA! That's too good! Human-Clown crossbreeding
I love this headcannon, omg!. 😂.
The ending took the term “becoming the thing you hate/fear the most” to a new level. Solid episode though. ❤
"Fear Never Knocks" is a legitimately a really good episode that deserves attention
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The lady in the closet scared the shit out of me when I was little
Very True and a great classic
I love Christopher Heyerdahl. Greatest actor the show ever dad, perhaps.
That "this is for you Chris, its all for you" at 8 Mins 34 Seconds gives me some serious Omen vibes lol
LOL that’s so true 😂
Glad I wasn't the only one who picked up on that😂
Pretty interesting that the book has the clowns being straight up evil and heartless while the episode has them being more morally grey and even kind of oblivious to the fear they bring to Chris.

This reminds me of the Michigan Chillers book Sinister Spiders of Saginaw. Where the main character had arachnophobia until one day there was an invasion of giant spiders in her town. These spiders were actually an alien race that came to take over but there was another race of spiders that were good and were able to turn into people. Well for spoilers when the girl was able to take down the evil spider group apparently two were coming at her home but it turns out it was the good spiders that can turn into people and big surprise it was her own parents. Which meant she herself is an alien spider all along. But instead freaking out she just learned to accept it (especially when she literally fought her own fear of giant spiders).
Wow interesting
I watched this episode recently on TH-cam and my childhood fear of clowns came back and I remember watching the scene in the episode where the kid's parents are clowns when I was three then I tugged on my mom's face.
lol that’d be wild if EVERY parent was a clown
Ikr
I like that the twist is that the clowns aren't evil- always fond of the episodes where the monsters aren't actually the villains, even if poor chris is still going through it.
I do kinda wish they'd had the clowns/clown chris get some payback on jayden- I also like the idea someone else commented of Danaca also being a clown, might add to the sorta sweet but also weird tone of the story
I had that Nightmare Hour book as a kid, I actually never realized the Haunting Hour episode was based on that story because they are so different. The "you could die kid...die laughing!" stuck with me so hard lmao.
I really loved this episode but i lowkey wish they went with the book ending. It was so dark and messed up
I did really enjoy the ending of the story a bit more but the show ending isn’t too bad!
I wanna say they changed up the show from the story to give people the message that yea, clowns aren't trying to hurt you...most of the time and doing the book ending would have just reinforced that "clowns are bad" which make the clowns of the world very sad :C
What was the book ending? please tell me lol
@@FriendlyNeighborhoodGeek99 they were beating him and about to tickle him to death, but he chose to join them to save his life and now he tortures the kids scared of clowns
I love clowns so much. I wish I had watched this when I was younger. I've only ever watched Goosebumps thought for the most part with "scary" things when I was young. :'3
Captain Crazy has the same haircut as Trunks when he came out of the time chamber.
He did!!! What if Trunks is Belmods son? 😂
I still remember how shocked I was when it revealed Chris was actually a clown this whole time, probably one of the best twists in the series
Yeah, GB and similar kid's spooky stories did the "everyone was aliens all along" ending a lot, like in camp nightmare, but "clowns are a natural occurrence and the kid/his parents are all clowns in disguise" was... A different one, that's for sure.
Another thing is that whenever Goosebumps did that kind of twist ending where the main character(s) realizes their family were the same creatures they were afraid of all along (Vampire Breath being a good example), they're at first weirded out but then think it's cool, ending on a comical note. But here, NOPE!
There's a Goosebumps book about clowns, and it ends pretty much the same way
Definitely gotta recommend Pumpkinhead. It's especially dark.
That’s my fav Halloween ep
And the sequel
I hate your profile picture. Not relating to the video at all but protect trans kids from what?
You should do the Pool shark episode.I find it goofy and weird
OMG THANKS FOR REMINDING ME
also they got Booboo Stewart the actor who played Jay from Descendants, James Proudstar / Warpath in X-MEN: Days of Future Past, Daniel Drumm / Jack O'Lantern in Spiderman 2018, Roman in Labs Rats Elite Force, and Kenny Turner in CSI: Miami

I did read the short story years ago. Thought that the clowns were being overly cruel and gang or cult-like but mostly thought that the story was just okay. Liked the episode more as while you can make a deal with someone, you can’t run away from your genetics and your family.
Turns out bro was just a Clown (literally)
I don’t know about it being the scariest episode, but it had a memorable villain for sure!
lol I wanted to make it circus themed but I couldn’t think of anything that sounded intriguing enough 😂 the episode isn’t exactly silly or whacky
I think the book story is way scarier than the episode. I feel like it would make me develop a fear of clowns
It made more sense. The clowns in the story were violent criminals instead of a race of cryptids. I guess they toned it down and changed it for the younger kids watching TV
My Mama used to always talk about this episode, but specifically the fact that it was so scary that her brain put a trauma block on it.
All she remembered was that she would wake up crying as a little kid because of it.
I hope we get to see, “The Spaceman,” with the alternate ending..
Hopefully soon!
Most insane exposure therapy I’ve ever seen..
Very memorable ep for since it was my introduction into haunting hour I mostly enjoyed the cinematography of this ep
the scariest thing about this episode is why are sophomores hanging out with barely 13 year olds😱
I sense some CSC accusations in their future....
Sophomores are only 15. It’s not thaaat crazy

@@Lilt348 15-16 depending on when you were born. My birthday was around graduation time, so I personally was 15 for the majority of Sophomore year.
The clown cutting off his hand gave me some flashbacks to when I first watched the episode
As someone who grew up in a circus town and had friends growing up who were 3rd or 4th generation clowns and i honestly am starting to believe it is genetic 😂😂😂😂😂
That must be interesting

As a person who flinches every time I see a clown face, I feel Chris’s pain, and I’m 22!
bro its like the "Scientists modified a spider to make it fear spiders" conundrum. Being a clown AS a clown. RIP.
You should be the Are you afraid of the dark episode “laughing in the dark”. Fun fact the sound the vampire makes in the fun house was used in one of the goosebumps intro (season 4 I think)
The clowns didn't hurt him, but being turned into one is worse...
Kaptain Krazy is legit terrifying to look at even for someone without clown phobia! Dude had angry eyebrows with his grin making him look like INCREDIBLY sinister! everything he did looked like a murder attempt with the face he makes
This was the very first episode of haunting hour that I ever watched, I have a ton of nostalgia for this one!
Yeah I even made the mistake of watching it with the lights off
Saw this on on demand was instantly sold
@@streetwatcher_ same, I think it was the first result on demand because whatever cable my family used (I think it was WOW) listed episodes on demand in alphabetical order

The first clown that Kris sees in the car is honestly hilarious to me. He's not all goofy and wacky, like using clown language. He's just like "heya Kris!" really casually.
Ive always been afraid of clowns since birth and this episode especially the cake and ending twist tramatized me.
Their faces are testifying and what they do is all creepy and suspicious I HATE CLOWNS buti love jesters for some reason, huh weird 🤔.
Spoiler alert.
It's not scary. Kind of wholesome actually.

This episode is definitely "for laughs" here.
I like the episode. Interesting story. And plot the twist where it turns out he and his family are clowns is really crazy to see. This definitely doesn't look funny here.
Also who knew there's a difference between the episode and the book here.
Fantastic job covering this episode and also give a little summary on the original story here.
This is perfect timing considering the Killer Klowns from Outer Space game is now out. Maybe you and your friends can play it. Maybe livestream it or something. And also while we're at it, do a video on the original Killer Klowns from Outer Space movie with your commentary, summarizing, and other things here.
Keep up the great work and take care!
The killer klowns game does look REALLY fun I might have to give it a try!
Thanks for watching!!!
More Haunting Hour stuff! This is why Kingnusmi's the GOAT!
I'm an artist who has a fear of clowns as well as a strange interest in them. Everytime I draw one (Male Clowns particularly) I get uncomfortable and anxious!
Who are you I might need to pay you for that
@@Jokuthesaiyangod Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not at the skill level required to sell my art yet. Maybe someday though.

This episode stuck with me for a few days when I first say it as a kid. I was never afraid of clowns, and I'm still not, but I think it was the fact that the kid is/becomes his biggest fear.
Honestly as a kid I remember that the clown cutting his fingers that scares me & it stills does as an teen
FINALLY!!!! been waiting for this episode! It was definitely one of the scariest as a kid since I hated clowns still kinda do.. and the twist ending is actually unexpected this episode definitely is top 10 for me in the series

I will admit, the twist was brilliant
Yeah, it was. Did not see that coming
Captain Crazy has the same wig as Myrtle Snow from AHS Coven😂❤
It's amazing, a little over a week ago I did not know this channel even existed.. now I'm literally checking the time to make sure I don't a new episode. Good job mate. 👍
I think I may have mentioned this before, but I would love for someone to watch and review "The Red Room Riddle" which was one of those Saturday morning book into into show specials. Since this was before Goosebumps I was not ready for this level of creepy and he gave me nightmares for months as a kid. Lol
Isn’t the twist that the main character is a clown too and his parents are as well
i always thought this episode was super goofy because my grandpa was a clown and magician so i was never able to and honestly still am not able to understand being afraid of them
Pleasant surprise hearing someone use the Meat Circus music
it's too good to not use

The real reason why I never like “Is it cake“ for a while. The hand
considering how many people crush on Harley Quinn, I just don't believe that most people are afraid of clowns.
Bro a lot of people were simping over the clown in this episode 🤣
Harley Quinn is dressed as a Jester, which is not exactly a clown, being the harlequinn and jester are forerunners of clowns.
So the attraction to a jester is different from a clown, at least semantically.
I remember reading the original short story as a kid. Pennywise got nothing on those clowns. Definitely had a nightmare or two after reading XD
Ever since I watched Modern Family, I can only think of Fizbo the Clown, who will twist you like a balloon animal if you don't apologize to his boyfriend... RIGHT... NOW!
Fantasttic video, love the psychonauts music in the circus lol very fitting
Thanks! Its such a good song
Whenever I tell people about where my fear of clowns came from I always only remember the birthday scene where they cut his hand and chase him out the neighborhood , and all jump out the car and they all say they never remember. This is where my clown phobia started ☹️
Kingnusmi may not be pregnant, but he always delivers 🐐
This is One of my favourite episodes of The haunting hour along with uncle Howie and lots of luck. Thank you for covering it. You are the best!
This is the only relatable haunting hour episode I know because just like Chris I am also a clown 😩🤡
This episode scared me so much as a when I was younger, I’m still a little freaked out by clowns oh and also that clown from the amazing world of gumball why was he there?
This video brought back so many memories. I had initially started watching your THH videos thinking I was consuming new RL Stine content, but I vividly remember the hand cake scene from when I was younger
I got so hyped when you played the meat circus music from psychonauts in the background! very fitting for the episode, plus it's from one of my favorite games
Intruders & The Weeping Woman are pretty good episodes too! I like how someone is finally talking about the haunting hour. I’m 22 & I still rewatch the show every few months.
I'm halfway through the video and thos far the episode can be summarize as "Boy with severe extreme PHOBIA and TRAUMA gets any help and sympathy denied by family and forced to endure unwanted exposure to the source of his fears"
The psychonauts music in the back is PEAK editing
When I look up the illustrations for Nightmare Hour, they almost give me Stephen Gammell vibes but with a more photorealistic or 80s horror novel look. The one for The Dead Body is straight up pure nightmare fuel. It looks like something out of the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark trilogy or a promotional still for an old silent film. The show didn't even go that far to make a realistic corpse like that!
The illustrations are SO GOOD! The afraid of clowns one isn’t the best but there are a few that are beautiful! I know! The show BARELY had a dead body 🤣

As someone who was afraid of clowns this was my favorite haunting hour episode, so glad you covered it
If I was chris and i found out that I'm getting stalked by a bunch of clowns, I would be asking the clowns questions like "why are you following me?" "What do you want from me?" "Who sent you and why are they doing this?"
God, the short story sounds so much more horrifying! If the episode was more faithful to the short story, it would've freaked me out even more as a kid. The clowns don't even do anything that evil in the episode compared to the short story.
Hi there, @Kingnusmi!
So, I was thinking, if you’re still covering Creeped Out episodes, I’d definitely recommend…well, almost all of them, but especially ‘Cat Food’ and ‘Trolled’ for future reviews!
Either way though, I just discovered you channel literally today, and I’m LOVING IT- I was always too chicken to watch shows like goosebumps as a kid, but as an adult, I’ve definitely made up for lost time. And reviews of the shows by folks like you have been a ton of fun to watch! 🤩
I hope you continue to grow in subscribers, and I’ll keep watching and looking forward to new, awesome content from ya! ^u^
I definitely want to talk about creeped out more! Those two are definitely the most requested so I’ll have to check them out! Thank you so much for the kind words and suggestions!

I first saw this episode on Halloween, something funny is that my mom actually was once a professional clown, like the makeup outfit and everything (I grew up seeing a lot of cool magic and clown tricks because of that honestly❤). So I was watching this episode on Halloween while getting ready to go trick-or-treating with my brother and my mom and right after the episode was over and I was sufficiently freaked out my mom and her clown costume decided to come into my room, totally pulling the mom saying forgetting to knock first and just barging into my room dressed as a clown after I watch the clown related episode, she thought it was hilarious😂😂
Haunting hour guy we'd fit right in with those guys all we're missing is the face paint💀🤡
So true sleepy guy 🤡
Finally! I've been waiting for this episode ever since you did the Really You Doll Episodes. Great Recap. This, along with those first two episodes got me hooked on a Haunting Hour, even though I was way beyond the demographic at the time (I was mid to late 20s and I'm 36 now) but it was almost like Supernatural episodes for younger kids. Definitely the type of show I would have loved (and been scared of) as a kid. I hope you do more AYAOTD episodes 😄
6:00 I think Chris’s parents got Danica to give him the tickets for his birthday cause they knew he would go to the fair if she invited him

IT'S HERE !! thanks so much for this. finally got to see my favourite episode covered. i remember the chills it gave me when i first saw it on their page!
This episode scarred me as a child to the point I remember every scene. Same with the first episode(s). Now thinking of it, this entire show scarred me.
I watched this episode a few years ago. I felt so bad for the protagonist. Lol
Now… that short story you summarised is wild. I had a terrible fear of clowns growing up AND a strange fear of being tickled to death. The latter of which I have never heard anyone one else express, and I thought I only ever experienced that fear. Hearing that two of my greatest childhood fears were put into one story just freaks me out lol!
I still remember watching this episode as a kid ,Captain. Crazy is cemented in my mind
This is definitely one of my favorites. I am not personally afraid of clowns but they do a great job at making them unsettling in this episode and i enjoy the twist end very much. Although with how the parents look and sound i realized on the rewatch that something was off about them especially his mom.
This episode is like a mix of “ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?” And the movie “ CLOWN”
Don't call me weird but I'm been obsessed with this episode ever since I have watched the episode
So glad seeing the book recommended. I read that when young but never had the show till was older. Thanks to the book I watched it and was pleasantly surprised. The episode not based on the book could be really good and sometimes even better. Some of the changes of the stories made sense and still made for interesting spooky stories.
I hope you cover alien candy soon! That was the first episode I watched in this series!
Seeing you pull out that book brought back so many memories. When my sister and I were little we carried that book everywhere and were obsessed with it. Its been so long i cant even remember the stories (i think i was 5ish, I'm 30 now) i had no idea that episode was from my old favorite book!
That is so nice
