I think the reason the plastic cuber one didn't work was because it was made for Velveeta stuff which is pretty soft. Maybe try it on that kind of cheese if you can? That might be the key to making it work.

the plastic one that says velveeta on it is only for velveeta cheese. velveeta is a very soft cheese and is one very large block so that slicer works great on velveeta cheese and makes great cubes on very soft cheese.
