    You should make a video on whip-poor-wills or chuck-will's-widows! It's that time of year and I'd love to hear your commentary on them.

      Better late than never, Trevor? I just realized I hadn't responded to this comment. I'd love to do a movie about Whip-poor-wills. The problem is getting footage of them after dark. (And I'm a suburbanite. We don't get them where I live.) Sigh.

      It's nice to hear from you again--and to be reminded of this little guy. I watched the movie again myself because he's so darn cute. I like hearing that you enjoyed the commentary. I'm a retired English teacher, so I put a lot of effort into writing clear, informative and entertaining scripts.

    I just saw one of these guys in the San Luis valley! They blend right into the rocks as soon as they land! You wonder how they can possile live in such sparce habitat. Thanks! Great video. Had no idea about the sub-species!

      @JoAlwoodBIRDSANDTHENSOME  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I know what you mean about them surviving in such sparse habitat. The upside, of course, is that the bugs have very few places to hide

      Batman masks. Hmm, shoot, I wish I'd thought to say that. Pamela, I took down the movie about the Brown Thrashers feeding their offspring--for reasons too complicated to explain. I'll be reposting it next Tuesday under a slightly different name. But I wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your comment about liking the movie. Isn't it sweet to watch closeup as the parent plops a grub into that open mouth?

      Cathy, that is as heartwarming a piece of praise as I can imagine getting. You concluded with a thank you, and I do feel thanked! Writing those scripts often creates minor stress in my life. I start out thinking that I don't really have anything interesting to say. And yet it somehow usually takes me close to four minutes to "say nothing". I generally go from distaste for what I'm planning to say to--eventually--pleasure in what I've created. My husband has heard me countless times grouse about being stuck on a script. But I wouldn't give up the challenge for anything.

    I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for these lovely ground dwellings birds . I am happy to hear they are found in Missouri. I spend countless hours on the trails around Smithville lake . I will start looking around the shoreline in the open areas. 😎

      I enjoy hearing that the movie has inspired some action on your part, Pamela. I had seen them only briefly until a month ago, when I was driving slowly around a flooded area looking for Yellowlegs and Solitary Sandpipers. Two of them were sitting in the road looking at my stopped car. I spent the next two weeks visiting that site as often as I could, gathering film of them.

    • @pamelakern2849
      @pamelakern2849 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will start looking for yellow legs too. I love identifying birds . I love my feeders and the birds who visit . I spend alot of time on developing a variety of food for all my little visitors. I had a wonderful time when a small flock of Orioles decided to stay a few weeks in early May. Your videos are the BEST !! So well done 😃

      That makes me smile to hear you say that you'll be looking for the Horned Larks and Yellowlegs. You might get some of the Horned Larks too, but the Yellowlegs are gone until fall, when they will look much more bleached out. And I understand the thrill of having Baltimore Orioles in your yard, flashing that orange at you and doing their bouncing ball song. Too cool! I have an old film about them, and I plan to do a better one next spring. The one I have was one of my first vids, and I would do a better job with it now, six years later, but it's worth watching anyway: After all, as you said, my "videos are the BEST." What music to my ears. Thank you Here's the Oriole link: th-cam.com/video/ogXx8uOlrHQ/w-d-xo.html
