    I have a SAAB 9-5NG M2011 with the same engine and a few days ago I figured out that the same camshaft solenoid is faulty. I`m gonna replace it asap. Many thanks Alan!

    Thanks Alan for this really helpful video..
    Had the same issue with my Astra J VXR..
    Vauxhall wanted £500 to swap them out, inc £144 just to put it on the diagnostic despite me having already done it & have the error code..
    Bought OEM parts from Courtney Sport at £72.99 each & spent 25 minutes this afternoon swapping them out 😎👌🏻

    The oil pressure actuator solenoids don’t send a signal to the ecu to adjust the cam timing, the ecu sends a PWM signal - based on the load map and position information from the cam sensors - to the actuator solenoids, which then adjust the oil pressure to the VVT cam actuators to adjust the timing. Just saying 😜👍🏻 good to have something a bit different Alan. Great vid work as always.

    Very helpfull video. I had the same code, p0013, on my opel insignia, no check engine lights tho. Car had a little bit of rough idle when started cold and the rpm was a little high but seems to run ok when warm but something did not seem right. Reading the codes showed p0013. Changed the exhaust solenoid en the car runs fine now without the code coming back. Thank you.

    Hi Alan!!! I like your videos, how great and helpfull these are.
    Please let us know how many of oil pressure regulating solenoids has the Ford Engine 2017, 2.0, 207 bhp?
    My diesel engine is clanking when driving low rev in traffic, like early timing, read throught forums, watched all your videos about Ford and i concluded that maybe is affecting VVT, also car went in limp mode 4 times, diagnosted codd P06DD. So i book it into Ford garage under warranty sugested them the problem, they agreed and replaced only 1no solenoid. But no changes. Is still clanking crazy ocassionaly. I presume is only one solenoid????

      I bought a MK4 Mondeo for 2 reasons, it was a pain going on holiday in our focus with a toddler and I did a lot of motorway miles in a sales job. It eats up the miles, comfortable and for something just shy of 5meters long it's surprising nimble and corners on rails.

    I am afraid that you lost me as to how a circuit code can be related to low oil pressure-it is an electrical fault by definition not a mechanical fault like oil pressure.

    • @stuartgibson9526
      @stuartgibson9526 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a simple oil control solenoid valve, it controls oil pressure to the variable cam timing unit, full pressure will move the sprocket thus changing the timing.

    • @stevetaylor2445
      @stevetaylor2445 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stuartgibson9526 I understand how the solenoid works to affect cam timing,what I don't get is how you can relate an open or shorted circuit code to low oil pressure?If the circuit is electrically complete then the code would not have happened no matter what oil pressure is or if the engine is even running?Circuit codes are independent of mechanical forces because they represent the state of electrical circuits.If that is not what the code represents please let us know.
