  • A misty day in Hastings in East Sussex and a multi species session from the Beach this week . February fishing from the Coast of England can be hard going but this session was great fun as we land 5 Different species to talk about .
    I try and predict what fish is on the end of the line from the way its moving the rod ! i do quite well actually.
    Theres a few mistakes to laugh at ,
    A unwanted Problem floating past
    and some tricky moments as i hook a fish while the dogs go crazy!
    I really enjoyed this session for more reasons than one.
    Please do comment on the video it really helps if i know people are watching through as there are some hints and tips as well as some to dos! and not to dos.

    I've always kept a litter picker in the car with a few black bags and after every daytime sessions done i do a 30 min walk around and pick up whatever I see or if I do an evening session I do a bit while I'm fishing it's to do my bit to keep the beach clean but it's also a little bit of exercise too
    Litter pickers are from the poundshop and the black bags everyone has at home anyway so it's no hardship really
    Fantastic video mate cheers

    Ever tried to attract more fish by dumping some feed with a feeder cage? I'm thinking of asking the local fish shop for the stuff he will throw away and put that into a large speedfeeder. Probably need to cast 30x haha
    Remember Rex Hunt preparing the beach by throwing in some burley?

      Yes 👍 show it on a couple of videos. Yes I do remember and often hurry in a beach on a flooding tide. Have used the swim feeder to good effect for bream using old rag and mackerel guts!

    A nice mixed bag for February, we still get a cod run in the lower Bristol channel , from Penarth down to Swansea, not prolific , but they are about, I like your content Matt because you fish well and you don't take a load of unnecessary crap with you, I'm looking forward to the summer to target the Teignmouth bass, I'm also going back to fly fishing for trout. I missed all last year as i recovered from throat cancer, but I'm well again now, thank god and the NHS. keep the videos coming Matt always a good watch.

    Lovely video Matt, well done, that was a very productive day for late February, I'm going to try my luck this Sunday on the East Devon coast, caught a 4lb bass there last year at the end of Feb. As others have already said, I'm looking forward to watching you doing some lure fishing a bit later in the year, and as for people swimming right where anglers are already set up - it beggars belief! Keep the vids coming Matt, all the best.

      Yep regarding the swimmers I think it’s who was there first really , No anglers going to cast in to the swim meet I guess- regarding bass This was caught in feb and from March 2 can be retained so out of season. 42cm is the minimum size but most bass anglers I fish with now see 44/46 as a minimum if taken at all

    @kerryfoster1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes there are a lot of swimmers on my local beach, however I've not had them swim in front of me. They always (so far ) turn and swim back again! One of the reasons I long for remote and empty beaches.......

    • @trampster7306
      @trampster7306 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took my Grandson to a fairly long beach last summer to give him his 1st casting lesson, and there was a girl in her early teens on a paddleboard going too and fro right in front of us for ages. I became convinced if we moved, she would follow. Had to give up & go home after a couple of hours. 🙄🙄

      Yes Kerry , sensible coastal users always welcome - no problems there

  • @SandrasSpicySpanishSalami
    @SandrasSpicySpanishSalami ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You have a far kinder attitude to nuisance swimmers than me. I take the position that if they can't possibly see me, I can't see them. Even though the bait and rig are nailed to the seabed, they freak out touching a section of 60lb braid with their leg.

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good position , yes since covid more and more people are swimming but they don’t have the coastal knowledge about tides, especially spring tides and how it effects things. They also don’t see other beach users or realise how far or short an angler casts. They are not true “watermen”

      @@johnkay7354 The self entitlement of any beach user to expect any other beach user already engaged in their activity to immediately cease as they "are more important" is hilarious. I highly doubt any fisher but a half drunken tinsel tosser in shorts, vest and incredible red complexion would make use of a mark currently in use by swimmers, the same isn't true in the inverse.

For Bass though Really easy to unhook because of their big mouths i find it quicker thput my thumb in the gape of the hook push in towards the fish and lift out.

    Please excuse my lack of knowledge I'm new to lure fishing for bass, but can you not lure fish for bass if your catching them now on that setup?

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You ask a good question. Bass need water temperature to increase before they focus in on live bait replicated by lures. So they are lethargic, small and don’t have the energy after recent spawning. Yes indeed you could try but the rewards are slight. Less fish being inactive. The bass in this video would of been seeking out easier meals like a stationary lugworm. So yes you are right but this channel will get a lot more lure focused in two months as the water temps rise and the bass start chasing bait fish enmass

      I disagree with you, as it’s up to the angler to wind in and wait until they have passed. It only takes a few seconds and it helps for good relations between anglers and other beach users.
      After all if you want to swim a length of the beach near to where you live and there’s a number of anglers there it would not be possible without each other’s cooperation.
