    I noticed when you first stared sewing your machine was sliding away because you were trying to push the fabric to fast. i find its best to pull with one hand at the back while also sort of lightly pulling towards yourself at the same time and use your elbows to pull to the sides so it doesn't wrinkle. Just a little tip from one seamstress to another. You did over all great job though!

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely appreciate the feedback! I learned to sew on a machine, when I was very young from my mom but as of lately, I have been teaching myself through watching TH-cam videos.

    You are awesome and we need more nurses like you. I used to teach for GCU and you're getting an excellent education! I ordered scrubs, which I never wear, so I can go to California and help out at a hospital that is overwhelmed with staffing challenges due to COVID. The scrubs arrived and they are so baggy and I wanted to know how to make adjustments and your video was perfect. While I am an accomplished seamstress, I think I would have made the mistake and worked on the outside seam but this is much better!!! Keep up the videos! From an RN, CNS, PhD

      That means a lot thank you so much for sharing! Your going to California? Where do you live now? Will they be including flight abs board while you go there to help out? Do the seems tear when bending, turning, or squatting? 🤔 Or maybe more lines will make the stitching stronger?

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First I would recommend using a color thread that matches the scrub fabric that way if the stitching comes apart, it is not so obvious but if you plan on wearing these to work I would recommend going back and giving it a double stitch. These scrub pants do not have much stretch but choosing a scrub pant that does have some stretch would be better.

    So I’m not sure if someone had commented this already but you could put your pants on inside out and use pins to get an idea of how much to take them in because you already have them on. Might save you a little time with the seam ripper. ;) they turned out great! I have an old pair I’m going to try and take in tomorrow. • @Febiza919

      A big tip that helped me was doing a basting stitch by hand. It’s basically just pinning with thread. Put them on and thread a needle with no knot, and a giant running stitch- that way you can try it on, and pull out one long thread as you sew instead of a bunch of pins

    • @lucky112

    This is a really good video. Maybe someone already said it before, but using some safety pins as you fit them will save you about 600 passes/seam rip sessions on the machine. A bit of chalk along the safety pins (on both sides!) is the key. Once you replace the safety pins with sewing pins... unless you hate your needles, that is... you will have a line to follow nice and easy. The back and front are not always the same, so the chalk line lined up with the sewing pins will get that perfect fit.
    I just got a job at a hospital and bought some scrubs from goodwill that have the opposite problem as this. They're too tight! And I can't return them because of some policy... yet they don't even let anyone in the fitting rooms anymore! Fortunately, I've been a costumer for 20 years and can fix it in a few hours (you add a strip at the sides, sort of like sports pants, for the leg and waist). What I wonder is how much creativity I can get away with on my scrubs while still being professional. Never worked anywhere that I had such an informal uniform.

    • @lucky112
      @lucky112 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok what you do is find a sweat shirt the color of the pants thrift that too do strips and do the seam line at the knee for the scrubs and the sweatshirt so it looks intentional and then use the red to make cuffs at the bottom and you have a unique creative way to resize them
