Chandler spreaders are the best! None of the coops around me use them except the bioag dealer in my area. Of course his never rot so theyre never for sale. I gotta start hunting one down myself one of these days. Congrats on your purchase there.
Lol your videos always remind me of a few years ago when my youngest in his early/mid teens looked at something I drug into the yard and asked "dad, why is everything you buy already broke?". 'Cause we're broke to son.....😂
I really like this move (lime and fertilizer capability) for you in what you're accomplishing at this point in time. Putting this on board with the applicator, very nice!
Ethan, jumping. Back to the last video on the concrete. Check out crushed concrete. We just did a farm road with asphalt millings @ $12.00 per ton. But I've seen 2 houses with crushed concrete parking areas. They look very nice. It's better than the millings.
Congratulations on the next purchase, There is a lot to be said about being self sufficient when you're the smaller guy in the area. we quite often find we're waiting for a spreader and I'd buy one for that price, but total scrap here makes 5K plus. Lots of our other machinery came here needing fixing and was cheap and served it's purpose for not a lot of money. I got about 6K in my 4wd tractor and 10 ton muck spreader. and it earned me $1200 working for a neighbor in 1 day spreading on poor land in his field next door to us. Take care
I remember when we brought our own fertilizer spreader. My dad was sceptical until we had a short spring and didn't have to wait for a spreader. I did our Wilmar a few years ago, all new spinders, bearings, shafts, pulleys and belts 600 bucks
Good deal, you've been looking for one of those for a while. After you get done with it, it will last you a long time. Glad you got the one you wanted.
Chandler spreaders are good spreaders Ethan. I worked for a fertilizer dealer in high school. They had ten or more spreaders and truck spreaders. When you get it sandblasted use coal tar paint. It controls corrosion better than anything we tried. It was a pain to work with and impossible to clean up but it was tough. On a lot of their newer trucks they used spray on bed liner on the cabs which worked well.
Good purchase! We rebuild a few of them for one of the local coop's and it seams if their is one bearing bad just replace them all on the same shaft, lots of oil and grease is their best friend
Ethan, that sounds like that'll be great for you once you get that all fixed up and you don't have to worry about someone else tearing up the equipment now you can't get stuff done. Thanks Michael
I have to be honest, I watched it through, even the part where you were talking about working on the applicator, and then I almost commented and asked why you didn't go for a narrow track spreader. Then I was like, wait a sec dumb dumb.....😂😂
When we used chicken litter we had a spreader, but when we ceased row cropping we sold the spreader, Now we call the distributer and he parks a Killabro or hopper auger trailer in the fields and we just pick up a spreader as we head to the field, The tractors all have GPS auto=steer we can spread on the hay fields at night..... Plus we spread 3 or 4 times during the summer... so usually when we want, they have or will get.....
With the needed repairs completed, you should have a time-saving addition to your fleet. Our supplier has been trying to rebuild/upgrade their rental spreaders for greater reliability. Sometimes it has come out cheaper to have them spread for us with their floater!!! All decisions to be made based on situations.
Usually tires go to hell now long before the wear out. Between chopper boxes, chopper, and a few other ones i put on new just a few years ago and had to replace most of them already, they split crack and just come apart and their inside when not being used. Just terrible quality now
You keep adding tools to the back pocket you going to have to get a bigger back pocket to keep everything in lol also Agri supply company down here in Nc ,va,sc,ga has the tie rod cinder parts for sale rods forks end caps and tubes on line and in store
You might as well just do all the bearings. "If it was a rental you know they weren't gentle" but for 2K you got a smokin' deal! I don't gotta tell ya how many tens of thousands they cost for a new one.

A deal is a deal.

Nice to have your own and do things at your own pace, as long as you have the bulk pile ready and waiting 👍🏻
Yep

That’s not bad.

Stainless box will outlast everything welded to it.
Good buy - the under cartage is worth all of that. Nice addition to your fleet. Thanks for the post Ethan. Take care. Fred.

Best pull type spreaders on the market in my opinion.
They are built about 100 miles north of me here in Ga. They are built in Gainsville Ga.@@Oliver66FarmBoy
Good luck with the spreader and hoping it comes apart easier than you anticipate!
Hopefully

Doing a better job of cleaning them helps the most. These stayed covered in fertilizer for 3-4 months out of the year.
Gainesville is where I’m from. We have a chandler equipment bed on our spreader truck. It will treat you good
They are good spreaders.
Certainly will be nice to have your own spreader!
Oh yea
Ethan, that sounds like that'll be great for you once you get that all fixed up and you don't have to worry about someone else tearing up the equipment now you can't get stuff done. Thanks Michael
It will make life a lot easier.
I’ve always wanted one, they seem like they would be handy to have around
You know what you’re getting when you have your own.
Great purchase. I'm sure you will rehab it well and it'll serve you well for the next 20+ years!
Should. It’s probably that old or close to it already.
When you have your own spreader, you can log history info of the units' spread patterns. spread rates. And reduced downtime.
Nice, new to you acquisition of a farm toy. Don't have to wait any longer on when or if the spreader will make it to you.
Congratulations on the buy... Looks like they done ya right hoss.
I’m happy with it.
I have to be honest, I watched it through, even the part where you were talking about working on the applicator, and then I almost commented and asked why you didn't go for a narrow track spreader. Then I was like, wait a sec dumb dumb.....😂😂
I’d still like a narrow track so I had the option but good luck finding a narrow track wide web spreader. At least in this size class.

I’d rather have my own.
After watching you for the last few years, I'm sure when you're done with that piece of equipment. It'll be like new.

I’m to small and to spread out to bother having them try to get to all my nooks and crannies.

That was a good deal. Can't find a decent one around here for that price.
Usually they are junk by the time they finally come up for sale.

It doesn’t all have to happen at once. All the driveline bearings are fine for now. They had plenty of grease in them.
The new speaker probably came with a back up camera in it and still was wrecked
We bought a 500 dollar spreader last year. Best thing ever. No waiting on a list last year. Hook on and go get fert.
Yep
You just can't help yourself :) I love it.
I’ve been trying to buy it for 2 years.
Nice score! Im looking for one too so no renting or hiring custom for 2-300 ac.
They are hard to find for as many as there are floating around.
I’ll have to watch this later, but congrats my dude proud of you 😮
Congratulations man you'll have ready to go in no time.
Hopefully
Good catch Farm Boy
Thanks
Thats a good investment
Now a used grain bin with a drying floor so you wont have to wait in that line. Lol
Sweet!
Didn't go wrong. That poor new spreader!
That’s what I said.
If they have good service it's worth paying a little more
For sure. Good service is a lost art anymore.
Sweet ,it will be awsome ,now if you good freinds with your supplier, you can have them put your dry fertilizer in a conex box ,it's possible I know !
It’s just as easy to get one load at a time for what little I deal with.
Nice buy!
Thanks.
Nice pick up!
Dealing with anytging fertilize, your better off putting all new parts on instead of trying to salvage anything. Less headache
It all depends on what’s available and how much it costs.
@@Oliver66FarmBoy also very true. Never had experience with chandlers before
2k for this used, and IF you put another 2k for parts(gear box bearing ,pulleys and pant), your still coming out ahead in long run ,making money!!!!!
The cheapest equivalent used one I found was 15k so I have a lot of wiggle room.
That is not a 6 ton spreader
Whelp I know from experience that you can heap 12k in the box and if my math is right that’s 6 ton.
I would like to ser that on camera especially with corn blend
That was a corn blend, dap and potash… 64 lbs/cft…
