My first assumption was that it was inside a building that was on fire but the strangest thing is that it didn't smell or anything. The funniest thing is that it worked, I had to change the thermal paste which is expected but I had no idea what that black dust was from.
Thank you so much. I was going to buy a Vita from these guys but after I watched the DKoldies videos I was skeptical. I looked for videos and there wasn’t any till now. Thank you

I agree, absolutely disgusting and shameful.. (company even more than the console.) After seeing a few of your videos, I definitely feel the console conditions are worse in the US than the UK after the years (probably different climate w/ bugs etc.) with preowned consoles, unless I've gotten really lucky and the consoles I order second hand and from shops have been looked after by previous owner. I live about 10 minutes from DK Oldies, all of us in the greater Philly Metro know this place is a scam we’ve known for years. Crazy how big this got out of nowhere
A big issue with consoles and they still do it to this day is negative air pressure for cooling. No matter how hard you try to keep the house and console clean, when they're using a pull method rather than a positive push, you will end up with caked dust everywhere. It pulls air from every little gap rather than pushing through one inlet
Seller should have also ran the fan test to kick some extra dust out. For these E models, turn the console on it's side (warranty sticker facing the sky), then power the console on and hold it for 1 minute.
I got my PS3 and PS4 with 6 games total from a retro store for less than $500. They work great, granted they sound like trains but an effort was made to keep them in as good a shape as possible. The PS3 was also listed as 120gb but is about 240gb instead so that's a bonus point.
I purchased a genesis game from them a few months ago for what I thought was a good price for the game. Apparently so did they because they decided to cancel my order after purchase/refund me and re-list it at a higher price. At least I was refunded. Great business practices, all around
Anybody who continues to buy from these companies who claim to refurbish their consoles is crazy. If you wanna collect or play older systems you really need to learn to refurbish and upkeep your own electronics.
Dropshipping in this case is illegal as they are stating you are reciving a "refurbished" product but they have no way to verfiy if it is actually been refurbished by the seller which they are buying then reshelling to you.
A tad bit off topic, but I went through this drop shipping one time while looking for an aluminum ladder on ebay and thinking I was purchasing from an individual who had the item on hand but when I got the package it was fresh from Home Depot. Kinda pissed me off. 🤨
Many businesses have drop shipping agreements in place. It’s not always predatory like you see in this case. For example… Manufacturer is good at making product, bad at marketing and selling. Manufacturer makes agreement with a business that is good at selling products. Then Business sells product to customer, but manufacturer ships straight to customer. There you go, drop shipped. You’re forgetting about an entire segment of the market.
I've had to dropship a few times in the rare case that something doesn't work on my end, but I've always been at a loss as I want the consumer to still get something that I sold to them. Sometimes it makes sense, but a lot of the time, it's just someone trying to make some money without any labor.

When I messaged the seller, he kept repeating it was refurbished. Lost cause.
Because of all the horror I have witnessed on your channel, you better believe if I want an older game or console I will be heading straight to your website
This is from their FAQ What condition are your products in? 99% of what we sell is pre-owned refurbished as a retro gaming store. Many items are 10, 20, or 30+ years old and have been out of production for a long time. However, everything sold is thoroughly tested & working and is in overall good/refurbished condition. Some 3rd party controllers, wires, and accessories listed or included in bundles are in new condition. We do have to brand new options of modern consoles (ps4/5, Nintendo switch, xbox one) available for purchase.
My friend once bought me a "working" "refurbished" ps3 controller from RetroVgames. It was a real ps3 dualshock.. But.... there was issues. I dont fully know how to explain it. But it seems like they opened the controller and somehow wired the RB button to Square on the controller. While playing RE5 a game you aim with RB with if i presser Sqaure my character would aim.... yeah we returned that controller.
I bought a ps2 one game and a n64 controller from this website and the game never came until I email them stating that I didn’t receive the game . They send a modded ps2 with a 3 party controller not working and console was in Chinese. Hat to buy another ps2 with original controller for 100 just to see if the console they send me would work and actually did just had to change language . But honestly very sketchy store I will rather but from Facebook
I always wondered what my ps4 looked like inside. I owned it for 6 years and smoked bud and dabs all day while playing. The vents had stuff that looked like fur in it before I sold it lol
I rhink all these companies suck. I buy from local stores. Thryvusually haveva decentvreturn/refund policy. The prices are usually fair market. The consoles work. The games work. And I know most of thecpeople in the stores. This crap is insane. Doing the Ebay dropship and claiming its refurbished.
You should try dkoldies wii u, 1 wii u out of 3 has a faulty nand (storage) chip from the brand hynix that has a very hight failure rate, if they send a faulty one that should definitely be considered a scam because all hynix wii u have a limited lifespan. It would be really interesting if dkoldies at least checked the nand, and in order to do this you either need to take it apart or mod it, and since dkoldies are "refurbishing" them they should know the brand. At the very least they should clarify if the console has the faulty chip and discounting it.
Ok so I've been here in person. I live 30 mins away lmao. They were hiring and I had applied only to find out that they pay very little compared to the area, the hours are terrible, and when I went in and browsed around the shop, which is very very small, the prices were all over the place. I picked up final fantasy tactics for the gba for 20 bucks which at the time was about standard price, but they were offering 30 bucks for copies of pokemon fire red, and selling them loose for 150. Emerald loose for 250 same with crystal. It was a very odd place with prices just all mucked up.
Looks like a house centipede from what I can see. I'm not positive though. Could be any number of creepy crawlies. Always appreciate your vids brother. Cheers!
Geez. I've got a brand new PS4 Piano Black 80Gb (non BC) model. I might have opened it to make sure it powered on at the time- but I can't remember. .. I'd be more than happy to sell it for 400. I also have an unopened PS2 Slim. At the time, I picked them up (at diff times obv.) when they were deeply price cut as their support was ending (The PS3 fat was when the slims were around and nobody wanted the fats).
Pretty sure there are, in fact, backwards compatible ps3s with 40 gb hdds, the cheaper of the 2 launch day models to be exact not like it makes the state of the console ok, just putting a small correction out there

Imagine paying more than ebay just to find out the quality RNG is the same as theirs
That bug in there is disgusting!
Because of all the horror I have witnessed on your channel, you better believe if I want an older game or console I will be heading straight to your website
This is from their FAQ
What condition are your products in?
99% of what we sell is pre-owned refurbished as a retro gaming store. Many items are 10, 20, or 30+ years old and have been out of production for a long time. However, everything sold is thoroughly tested & working and is in overall good/refurbished condition. Some 3rd party controllers, wires, and accessories listed or included in bundles are in new condition. We do have to brand new options of modern consoles (ps4/5, Nintendo switch, xbox one) available for purchase.
I don’t even wanna imagine what it would be like if this RetroVGames sold iPhones. I would have wasted $300 on a bent iPhone 6 with activation lock.
This behaviour and business practice just hurts me so much
So that retro video games store just do dropshipping huh ???
My friend once bought me a "working" "refurbished" ps3 controller from RetroVgames. It was a real ps3 dualshock.. But.... there was issues. I dont fully know how to explain it. But it seems like they opened the controller and somehow wired the RB button to Square on the controller. While playing RE5 a game you aim with RB with if i presser Sqaure my character would aim.... yeah we returned that controller.
I thought knockoffs are meant to be based off of desirable products/brands. Not brands undesirable and unattractive to consumers.
If DKOldies sent you a desert PS3, these guys just sent you a graveyard. Only thing to call a PS3 with a dead bug in it...
$404?!
BC PS3s are pricey but I wouldn't expect to see them over $350 (usually closer to $300).
But honestly very sketchy store I will rather but from
Facebook
"One of its legs flew out."
Bruh. ☠️
The website "error" of stock is just probably a scam of low stock. So someone will hurry and buy. Not illegal(maybe) but morally wrong
I always wondered what my ps4 looked like inside. I owned it for 6 years and smoked bud and dabs all day while playing. The vents had stuff that looked like fur in it before I sold it lol
That was a dead house centipede in it I'm pretty sure, but I would call this Desert PS3 2
What do you do with all these consoles after the video? Do you clean them and put new thermal paste on and sell them?
6:03 to skip promo
You should try dkoldies wii u, 1 wii u out of 3 has a faulty nand (storage) chip from the brand hynix that has a very hight failure rate, if they send a faulty one that should definitely be considered a scam because all hynix wii u have a limited lifespan.
It would be really interesting if dkoldies at least checked the nand, and in order to do this you either need to take it apart or mod it, and since dkoldies are "refurbishing" them they should know the brand.
At the very least they should clarify if the console has the faulty chip and discounting it.
Way worse than DKO. Really, really scary, the amount of disease contained in that console.
Amazing video.
Crazy!!!!!!
@1:02. did pay too much !
I could have found a way better deal by half with maybe 3-4 extra clicks.
But that is the point of the video right !?
Pretty sure there are, in fact, backwards compatible ps3s with 40 gb hdds, the cheaper of the 2 launch day models to be exact
not like it makes the state of the console ok, just putting a small correction out there
My Fat BC 60GB has NO scratches. I used car wax on it since it was new and a microfiber towel.
As a Canadian. I'm sorry.
That tail that came out of the PS3 was definitely a scorpion tail. Wonder where the rest of it went...
As someone who does alot of console repairs, this console wasn't actually that bad compared to some of the consoles I've seen. I've seen. PS5s worse than this.
Still gross either way. I didn't know you could drop ship through ebay. I assumed the seller was only supposed to send to the address of the buyer only?
I'm going to assume that dkoldies buys retrovgames inventory when it comes to dirty consoles at a low price
you can literally buy Frankenstein modded consoles for that price, as in re-capped and rsx swapped units that will never yellow light of death.
That’s not a business that straight up crime
