Great video. I had a small get-together with a few friends a week ago to try out my new Pigskins and Pigtails printing press and we had so much fun. First-time screen printers so we made some mistakes but learned a lot. This video definitely explains why we made some mistakes. I'm looking forward to seeing you do white basecoat on a black shirt so we can add some vibrant colors to black!
Hi, I love the way you use vinyl instead of chemical coating and exposing. can you please tell me what vinyl you use for this. is this htv or any other vinyl. thanks
That’s exactly why I love screen printing with vinyl! I can set it all up in my craft room and it is really quick. I use Siser PSV or Oracal 651 permanent adhesive, here’s an affiliate link to the one I;m using here: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/a/siser-psv
Great video, I am about to start printing shirts myself. Would it be wise to add the tape for the registration marks to all of the shirts in a batch, before you print the first one ? Might I suggest using tape to mark the corner positions of the first screen on all shirts so it is quicker to place it, especially after it is loaded with ink ?
Thanks! That is a good idea, anything you can do to speed up the process once you have ink on the screen is a good thing. Tag me and let me know how your shirts turn out, I’d love to see!
Yep - you can swap out the platen that comes with this press for a sleeve platen! Here's what it looks like: instagram.com/p/C--m8AvRS2s/ If you're interested in this press setup, we have a great Holiday Kit promotion running right now. Check it out here: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/pigskins-pigtails-holiday-deals/
is it possible to change this default platen that comes with this press to a larger one like a 18x20 or 20x26 platen? If so then I’d imagine this press can be used with 23x31 and 20x24 screens right?
If using Cricut Design Space, it might also be possible to change the full image to “print then cut”, depending on the size of the image and the size your printer is able to print. Then you wouldn’t have to swap out the blade for the pen, and you would have the full design, rather than just the outline, which may make it easier to register the screens. Just a thought…
The launch special includes the Screen Printer Starter Press base, a 14x14” platen, and two clamps. Right now, you also get free shipping (in the US) and a 14x19” Pigkins&Pigtails screen! www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/screen-printer-starter-press
The press is amazing!!
Thank you! I love it so much 😀
Wow what a great tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad you like it!
Love seeing it in action! Are you able to do a video that shows you printing a white under base for a design on a black shirt?
I’m so excited to start sharing videos with it- I’m working on a bunch so keep an eye out. I’ll definitely go over that 😁
I Cannot wait to get my press! My boys purchased one for my birthday and its arriving this Tuesday😍
How sweet! Happy Birthday 🥳

That sounds like a great time! It’s always fun to have someone to practice with. I’ll be sharing more tutorials soon 😊
Which htv do you recommend.. thank you.. this video is so helpful 🙏
So glad this was helpful! When I'm making a permanent screen I use Siser EasyWeed: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/a/15-in-roll-htv
This is great! I did order two more clamps so I'm just waiting for them to come to try doing three to four colors.
Great! Let me know how it turns out 😊
I love it

Does this press offer the sleeve option? Thanks

Try Dollar Tree clear shelf liner as transfer tape, may be easier to see the registration....cheaper too!
Too cool. How do you keep water based ink from drying, how long can it be left on the screen before it dries?
flooding the screen between prints is key- I was able to print for a few hours and didn’t have any problems with ink drying in my screens
I have the Rayonet single press. Is there an option to add the additional clamps and quick release handles to it?
The quick release clamps are only compatible with my press (the Screen Printer Starter Press)

Can an aluminum platen be used with the press?
It’s a universal arm, but you can check with Ryonet to make sure your bracket fits: www.pigskinsandpigtails.com/a/ryonet-support
