Very good and very bad. If this fails again the tending than they threw a pick away for nothing which will set the Sens back. Nevertheless, this may finally work hopefully.
I'm all in favour of improving our goaltending but we've tried this with Murray, Talbot and now Ullmark? So say we trade for and sign Ullmark - how do we know we'll be substantially better? Don't mean to be a poopy pants but I feel like the Sens are so weak on D that Ullmark will also be put out to slaughter like the goalies that came before him.

@@AnjunaDreams agree. Maybe we should give our current tenders a chance as sometimes the next year they get better. It can take awhile for a player to adjust to a new team. We have a bigger problem with defence and scoring with the 3rd and 4th line. We should try and improve in those areas.

Seems like it's gonna happen, but Garrioch said the Sens are also linked to Gibson, who I'm a big fan of. So tbh I'd be happy with either one, but Ullmark seems like the likely option. As long as we don't give up too much and get him under extension I have no problem with it.
Agreed completely, as long as he’s signed. Detroit and Vegas also has interest in Ullmark so we shall see… makes sense Staios is doing his due diligence.

Another benefit from having Linus is he's a good man so he won't be involved in any off-ice issues AND he hates warm weather so he won't be tempted to leave for warmer pastures.
Agree with all your points. Just get this one done, no matter what. Mine is not a statement of desperation fueled by emotion, it's just common sense. I went to Boston in February and watched him play against the Kings(DJ was behind the bench, Talbot was the backup, go figure). He was fantastic. The game could have been his, but Brant Clarke bolted out of the box unchecked and, in OT, got one past Ullmark for his first NHL goal. It happens. The rest of the game, he was in position the entire time.
You covered all the points very well. You posted the stats that needed to be posted. You brought up the metrics...this really is a no brainer. But you also brought up a good point, the B's are under a little bit of pressure, so Staios can perhaps wait them out for a slightly better exchange. Doesn't hurt to try. I will feel really good about next year if we can finalize this. GSG!

as a Bruins fan, Ullmark is generally a solid goalie. I def believe the Bruins team defense contributes to his great stats...he's also had some nightmare playoff games

Ullmark would be a nice upgrade, but I have concerns
1. I hope we don't have to overpay
2. I hope they have an extension in place
3. We need a way to move one of our current goalies without giving up a lot of assets
4. Most importantly, we need to play better team D, or else, even the best goalie in the world won't make that big of a difference
Curiously, flipping Chychrun is on the table, according to several sources. Yet, the Bruins aren't trying to figure out how to sign/extend him for the reported $7M-$8M that the Hockey News claims he should be looking for. So, it makes a rather one-sided presentation. I do not believe the Bruins should move Ullmark unless they are overwhelmed. He could easily have a better season that Swayman. Of course, #1 picks get thrown around a lot before the playoff push. That's how the Bruins lost their #25 (in the 1st) for the Bertuzzi rental that the Sens now hold. Maybe that pick could produce a decent NHLer in a few years...oh, boy! So, I'd be holding fast if I were the Bruins. He'll have great stats, again, before teams start throwing their assets around whilst they make a run.
A savior in goal is a bit thick. They need team defense. Part of that is a capable goal keeper. Love the show!

Ullmark would definitely improve the Sens chances of making the playoffs for the next 5-6 years. The price will be a premium though, if you want a player of this caliber, especially now that Detroit and Vegas and possibly a couple other teams have started talking with the Bruins about Ullmark.

We could, but frankly two seconds are worth more than the late first… plus it’s been said that the elite talent drops off quite a bit after 15 or so, so you’d be getting roughly the same prospects either way to be honest… first just sounds better for selling purposes if that makes sense haha.

I would agree 100% with your key points. I've read and heard what you have. Only thing I read different was.. Bs don't want Forsberg on the return because they want to play young Goalie Bussi as backup. I heard it's the term for Ully that's holding it up. But who knows. I am a Bruins fan, so to get Chychrun would be great. It would help both teams. And even though I'm a Bs fan, I like the Sens, don't mind the Oilers and Vancouver as my favorite Canadian teams. So I'd like to see the Sens do well. Just not the Leafs, fak them 🤣🤣 But thanks for the vid.

Swayman was not “equally” impressive. He won the job because he played better. Ullmark is very good. Swayman can be great.

It's sounds like Bruins are looking to fleece the Sens. At this point I'd rather just stick with what we have and be patient. We've been fleeced too much the last few years.

Bruins fan here...Ullmark and Swayman r the best tandem in NHL and id love it if Bruins could keep both him and Swayman cuz theyre great together but its really not feasible to have 2 goalies both making 5+ million a year on ur cap so sadly ones guna have to move on and that guy is guna be Ullmark!? It sucks but its part of the sport!? Whoever gets Ullmark tho is probably guna have to pay up for him!? Ullmark should command a trade equal to or better than what calgary got for markstrom!? If Calgary can get a 1st round pick and a good D man then Bruins should be able to get the same kinda value or better for ullmark cuz ullmark clearly had been much better than markstrom has been!? So they should get a better haul than calgary did with markstrom!!? The Bruins dont need to trade ullmark right away tho but i for see a trade happening b4 draft most likely!? How do you feel about the fleece job by Staios?
If the 5y, $35m ($7 per) extension rumour is true, that’s $11m per year on goalies (including Korpi’s $4). That’s ridiculous. Would probably put us top 5 in the league for how much money is spent on goalies. But our goaltending would still be middle of the pack. 👎
Chychrun and the 25th overall is pretty steep for a 30yo goalie that would come with a brutal contract. Markstrom is arguably a better goalie, or let’s even say equal to Ullmark. But he landed a future first and a random throw in. I understand there’s an extension involved which can change trade value. But it’s still a lot for Ullmark IMO. But alas, Ottawa is in a desperate position, and other teams will take advantage of us. Staios has little leverage.
The Bruins had the same problem(s) on defense a few years back as they were carrying Mike Reilly's $2.66M for a while as he was playing in Providence.

If Sens move Chicky then a top 4 RD better be coming back, can’t make our defence even worse and expect any goalie to be good in Ottawa. We’ve done this for years now…FIX THE DEFENCE
If we look at advanced stats it reveals that korpi, sogaard, and forsy gave up a combined 34 more goals than they should've this season. Ppl think Jacques didnt make a drastic difference but that's bc the goaltending was pretty much unplayable. Had we just had average goaltending we probs make the playoffs.

Would they be better off with Ullmark at $5M or Chychrun @ $7M+? Consider that they'd make the playoffs every year with Swayman and Ullmark, whilst be better at some times than others.
It doesn’t seem to matter what goalie we get. Once they get here they suck. Hopefully things change.

@@SENSTALK what's your take on Chabby being dealt? rumours have been quiet, but it seems to be coming back here and there. All too say that all of those players weren't pick by this management, so theirs no ties to any of them.

I usually agree with all the stuff you say here but not today. Craig Anderson is HIGHLY overrated here in Ottawa. In his 10 seasons with the Sens, they ended their annual playoff birth with average goaltending. Remember 1 run to the playoffs (Hamburglar run) was achieved despite his under average play of the first half of the season. Sens made it to the 3rd round because Chris Neil saved them in 2017…not Anderson. Anderson let in 1 of the softest goals in Sens history in double OT to clinch a SC chance in 2017. Absolutely overrated but something I’ve noticed with this city…especially Sens fans is that we celebrate mediocrity, it’s disgusting and if you don’t believe me, check that Ring of Honour, check DJ Smirh, check with Dorion. Extensions after extensions for mediocrity to basement seasons. If Ullmark comes to Ottawa, he will be the best since Ray Emery and if not him, Hasek (oh my groin), and if not him Lalime. I say Lalime.
Look at Craig Anderson between 2011-2015… dude in 2014 was probably the most underrated tendy and would’ve gotten vezina votes if he stayed healthy… Andy also is top 3 in many USA all time goalie stats…he’s definitely the best goalie in our history. Lalime is a close second though no doubt. And Hasek technically is the best but he was only here for a year.

@@SENSTALK exactly…would’ve, could’ve, maybe should’ve but didn’t. Just like he never led us to a SC run. Just like he was the goaltender for all those non playoff birth seasons. The best he did was for hot in 2017 to his deepest playoff run only to let in the softest goal in a SC birth situation…he choked because he’s a joke.
I agree with some aspects considering his struggles past the 2017 season did contribute to this team's downfall but he was getting up there in age by then which is to be expected anyways. When he had to show up he did and we're thankful for his services in 2012-2017.
Hopefully Ullmark works here. Go Oilers and go senators keep the cup in Canada.
