    Great video. Would they be considered triple red or super red? I thought if they have red on every fin they are super red?

    Hey Nick, my Apistos just had a bunch of fry, just watched your video again for any pointers I may have previously missed, a question I do have if you have time to answer, what kind of markers do you use at your store to write on your tanks, I've tried grease pencils, and paint markers but they don't look as nice as the writing on your store tanks. I've been meaning to ask for some time now, Thanks and keep the interesting videos coming!

    I feel it should be said. Depending the type of apisto you want to get. Some are easy some are harder. Cockatoo macmasteri borelli are way easier compared to other and some are super forgiving.

    Wow, that female apisto skulks around in the shadows and looks just like mine does lol. I just have mine by herself (other than sterbai corey's and all-female blue ram cichlids), and I can't find much info on apisto b. Inca's.
    Would she do better with a buddy or does it not matter?

    I have beautiful triple reds that have had fry. They are about 4 weeks old now and growing well . They are still in the tank with parents. When should I take them out? Male is good dad. Have have some die off .. but still have around 30.

    Hey man I missed the vid unfortunately but came home today to apisto fry!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes, as I had my 2 endler females drop on monday and tuesday, and I come home wednesday to apisto fry! I never thought I could breed the Njisseni either, everyone says they're very difficult. But I just added an almond leaf to my already super acidic tank, got it down below 6 and viola! I have since increased pH and hardness for all my other fish. BTW @KFS I'm literally going to be copying what you do when raising your fry as mine are only a week behind. Only difference is if I want to keep them with the mum, they'll be in my 29 gal community. Higher chance of getting eaten and harder to feed I think, but they're hiding in mulm and java moss rn, under my driftwood so they should be safe and well fed. Either that or I can try to catch some out to move to my 5 gallon fry tank to be raised along with my 100+ guppy fry lol. Or I could empty out a breeder box and use that. Opinions anyone? What should I do?

    Love your videos. I have had 4 different types of apistogramma. I am still new to breeding them but managed to breed Borelli, macmasteri and cacatoides double red. For these types I found that the line bred varieties don’t need soft water as much as the wild caught ones. And types like macmasteri preferred soft water. Where I live I have hard water with a pH of 7.8 and very hard water.

    Hey nice video. I have a question. My Apistogramma has lay eggs. It's been about 6 days later and she still didn't come out with her baby's. I not sure if she still has her eggs, because she isn't that often in her breeding place, but she still keeps other fish away and sometimes she goes in to her breeding place. What do you think??? Don't mind my English, it's not my first language.

      Raising the fry isn't really that hard depending on the parents. I have a pair with fry and they're taking care of it themselves. Feed them baby fry food or if you have a very well cycled tank they will eat algae and microorganisms that manage to be in the tank. If you have big concerns with the parents eating the fry you can use a breeder box in the tank to keep the babies safe and you can feed them fry food until they get bigger or you can move them into tank that has similar or same water conditions. Depending the type of apisto you have they won't be picky on the water

      @@Kobalt2772 Thanks so much mate. I've been going with that approach of leaving with their parents. I'm moving some to a 5 gallon community-fry grow out tank (thats a mouthful) as an experiment. My tank is perfect for the microorganisms as well, nearly a year old now, and filled with mulm, algae and plants. Thanks for the response tho.

    Hi Mate nice tank and really good looking pair of cacatoides Super red (not double red) . Just a couple things i disagree with and wouldnt suggest to people wanting to breed these. Firstly i wouldnt recomend feeding bloodworms at all because they dont have much nutritional value, also feeding bloodworms to Apistogramma will cause them to get bloated and will die soon after. Also i agree that cacatoides are easy to breed without ro water but this definitely does not apply to all Apistogramma. All other things you said where quite spot on and enjoyed watching the video. Keep up the good work.

    • @Constantine_Cvl8
      @Constantine_Cvl8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Source for the bloodworms stuff?
      The aquarium keeping community is always split on bloodworms but I have a theory that it may be just the suppliers' fault for most of the low quality bloodworms in the market.
      I feed most of my fish bloodworms and I never get any big issues. I've gotten congo tetras, danios, blue rams, and two species of rainbows to spawn and/or get into spawning condition with bloodworms.

    • @liseron75
      @liseron75 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Constantine_Cvl8 blood worms are okay until they're not. And you visually won't be able to tell. I lost my 4 blue rams in less than 24 hours after they ate bad blood worms. All my other fish were okay. Get freeze dried worms or stay away, that's my personal opinion
