Hi,love your blog. We always, always and always take our carpets out. We prefer the solid floor to keep clean and we replace them with washable scatter mats. Like yourselves we have a dog and it can be a chore to keep clean. We are of the mind set that clean presentable carpets for resale is always the way forward.
I think this is the road we'll be going. Miss Wonderfluff has just come back from a walk, and she's filthy. So, bathed (which she's beginning to love), towelled, but still pretty minging, really. Much easier to mop than hoover!
We have a dog and the carpets were brand new and pale grey. To start with we left them in but they were getting so grubby as we Motorhome all year round, so we have now removed them and have put in some mats that we can take out and clean when needed. Our dog is an Australian Labradoodle so she doesn’t shed but she does have muddy paws and likes to get on the furniture, so these are covered in throws which we can easily take out and wash. Television wise, we do have a one that is on a mount, but because we haven’t got a very good signal, we now use a fire stick with a dongle and we find that works very well. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy your travels in your new van.😀
Kira’s the same - if there’s mud or gunk, she’s in like Flynn. If our daughter’s dog comes with, too, (another Australian labradoodle), he, too love the muck. Think the carpets will be out and a rug or two in.. and yes, throws for the seats. Has to be done, methinks. And aye, firestick’s the way to go…
No concerns re dog here and we love the comfort of carpet. Good mat at door and remove shoes. We have already replaced carpets and are happy to continue to do so as and when necessary.
Good to know! Our pooch delights in mud, slush, and generally getting as minging as possible in the shortest amount of time. Sometimes, I wanna be a dog... 😂
We watch Netflix and TH-cam via an Avtex TV with a Firestick, but that's about all the TV we watch. Our carpet is removable, and I take it out and clean it twice a year with a carpet cleaner. I do vacuum it regularly. 😮 The Alde radiators are filled with a fluid so you can use your heating without having fresh water in the tanks. Just make sure you don't have the water heater on.
Congratulations on the new van 😃We have the carpets in around the bed and in the front and a door mat at the entrance but they are easily removable, can you not add press studs to the carpet and floor or use sticky back velcro 🤔 Avtex smart tv hooks straight up to the WiFi but check it’s got all the apps you want it’s what we have if that’s of any help or use to you 😉 Stay Safe 😜👍
The supplied carpets have sticky velcro at the corners, we've now discovered - Gill didn't realise at first. We've made a TV purchase, having read the comments thus far, and given it was Black Friday - but that's for the next video!! Only clue is - it's not an Avtex... Must get drinkies sorted... seats 4 no bother at all...
Firstly we have never laid down the carpet in any motorhome we've had. Secondly, we've just bought a 21" Vision Plus Tv it just about fits in the space that our 16", (12 year old) avtex Tv was in and is only 1" wider overall. For side bench seat covers, Shein are very good, but I'd already bought stretch ones from eBay. Finally self levellers are great.
We had WiFi installed in ours and couldn’t believe they don’t install Ariel , so just put fire stick in and tv works good not been out on trips yet but we are going on a 5 month one in December through France Spain Morocco 👍
Hi, might be wrong, but the heating is a sealed Alde system which should be fine to use without filling with water. Also, it shouldn't need maintenance for three years with the anti freeze inside
Indeed so - we'd had blown air for so long, which, we were told, needed the boiler filled, that old habits kicked in. Anyway, all sorted now, and it's toasty warm in there!! It's all a learning curve, isn't it!!
Re carpets: 50/50. We use them in the seating area, but not as we get into the van. There we use “Dirt-Catcher” mats as we also have dogs, and these can easily be taken out and cleaned. TV: We do have one but honestly we use it mostly with our Fire-Stick. R Michael
I think our usage would be mostly firestick - given that's what we use mostly in the house on a mahoosive 120 inch projected screen. Maybe a decent monitor with decent speakers. So much research to do! I like the idea of a rug in the "sitting room"... so much food for thought!
Congratulations and hope you have many happy travels We are in the same dilemma with carpets , we picked our new adria supersonic up a couple of weeks ago but we have decided to put carpets down in summer only I think not sure if we will they are comfy under feet 😂, I will be very interested to see how you can open the habitation door remotely, we have Mercedes me app but won’t let me lock or unlock over the app been in touch with Mercedes me and they say we haven’t got that feature on ours 🙈,it’s a very handy feature my daughter has it on her car and opened it why I had to get stuff out while she was miles away Already had fault on hab door so soon had to clean door contacts and now works Regards
I'm uncertain whether it'll handle the hab door, but it certainly handles the cab doors - so safe from locking keys in. I'll have a play and see what happens...

Thank you! 😃
Great to have you back , van looks fabulous.
Thank you kindly - hopefully back to regularity…
It’s been nice talking to you from Malcolm
It was lovely to see you today at Armitages… but we must stop meeting like that - people will talk!!

Having come from a van with blown air it’s like starting over again. Thank you for your help x

Thanks - all good info - we'll bear it in mind... so far, carpet-free seems to be winning.
Just watching new van. My comment, we took carpets up and bought runners from b and m. Name suggestion? Vandromadearer as it probably was.
Mally
Thanks - hadn’t thought of runners… And, aye - dearer!
We had WiFi installed in ours and couldn’t believe they don’t install Ariel , so just put fire stick in and tv works good not been out on trips yet but we are going on a 5 month one in December through France Spain Morocco 👍
Ooh - sounds like a fabulous journey! And, importantly, warm!!

Traveldomeda 👍
Thank you!!
Gandromeda, because you can "gan aboot" in it 😂
That's clever!! Hadn't thunk of that!!
New van name....
Granddromidor. If you are a GrandDad
I am indeed - my two grandlads make me proud.
