Catching Prespawn Crappie in Late March

The surface water temp finally hit 60 degrees, so the spawn isn't far away. By the next day, I caught my first male crappie up shallow with his tuxedo on. With the red buds just starting to bloom, longer days, and a few days of warm weather, the crappie will be up shallow in droves any time now.
