Lucy (Melissa O'Neil) hands over Tim's (Eric Winter) radio and he tells her about his recent breakup. Watch 'The Rookie' SUNDAYS 10/9c on ABC and Stream on Hulu.
@@JesiJJ I agree!!!! AND b/c he struggled so much with blaming himself that Lucy didn't know, until a later episode with her in Season 2. BUT...ever since Lopez was taken & Jackson killed, & she was staying at his place right after, there was a change in attraction & being his aide they became more equals. One of the most touching episodes that is 2 in away when his sister comes, Tim was the most vulnerable with her than he'd ever been. She had made a joke b/c they were talking about his dad, & Lucy said, "A Tim Test." Tim looked at her & his sister asked in their ride along, & Lucy said nothing. BUT the next week, when you do see his dad, Lucy waits for him. She figured out the case, b/c she knew there was more to his dad's mistress' story. AND says, "You could only see the version you wanted to see." AND he goes to confirm the real story with his dad as his dad is in a hospice. Lucy waits for him in the hallway & asks him if he's okay?!?! He says, "No." immediately & says why. His eyes were filled with tears & suddenly he says to Lucy, "The Tim tests. Those don't make me like him." He was definitely hurting & just looks so vulnerable. Lucy spoke very softly to him & said, "I know...." There's some pauses & she says, "You're nothing like him." BUT...he's still hurting visibly hurting & his eyes were still filled with tears, & she says, "Come here," & gives him a long hug, & speaks even more gently, just saying it again, "You're nothing like him."
I thought it was interesting too, that she was the one who kinda of apologizes for asking about his personal life. AND he also knows, that sure she loves to play pranks on Tim, that she knows more is going on. BUT as they say goodbye, he suddenly tells. I loved when they danced together finally at Nyla's & James' reception. He treats her more as a partner, I would say when she becomes his aide. AND suddenly tells her that she is a good cop. Maybe one of the top that I have ever taught. Then says that he has decided to list her name instead of his with the more challenging cases he gets automatically. She's stunned & says, but you're Senior Officer & you deserved to be recognized."
The writers really know how to play with our heart strings. Tim and Lucy playing this dance with their eyes , hands and body language. Tim is burning for Lucy. We the fans are burning up for Chenford.
Yep, I find Tim & well the actor is so able to convey what he's feeling especially in his facial expressions. Lucy as well can too & sometimes it's the small subtleties. Re-watching ALL their scenes from the hospital. Immediately it was Lucy who said, "Hold on to the doctor, how dangerous is this?" When the Doctor told Tim that the part of the bullet that they weren't able to be removed had shifted to his spine. She was to turn & looked at the xray or CT Scan. BUT...her worried face said it all!!! Immediately His eyes went to her. AND then again, after she left the room, probably feeling mixed emotions cuz Ashley was there, and she also had a job to carry out. I think Tim was definitely lied & played it down, that he was REALLY worried about her getting the news of him needing emergency spinal surgery. BUT tries to play it down. AND how Lucy responded, you knew she knew he was more concerned about her.
Why do I feel so sad for Tim in this scene. I honestly think he's more sad that he can't have the girl he actually wants, then his break up. I am wondering how they'll have Chris and Lucy break up. I think it happens before episode 10. It's frustrating to see her with Chris when it's so clear she doesn't love him. I mean Chris is a great guy but Tim is her soul mate.
They try to be separate because of their feelings... I think Tim is holding on his principles and rules because he knows that it'll be complicated and forbidden to have a relationship with her. That's why he pushed her to do the undercover training so they can have time to think. But clearly... It reinforce their love.
Oh he’s DEFINITELY more sad that he can’t have the girl he wants! I actually don’t think he’s sad about his breakup. I think he was more hurt with how and when she broke things off
Lucy looks absolutely gorgeous in this scene, and so does Tim. And their chemistry is always incredible, but it is CRACKLING here. Ooooh the sparks. I waited four years for this pining phase and while I’m enjoying every minute of it, you can tell something is going to give soon. The tension is unreal!
Is Lucy only with boring Chris because she still feels guilty about Rosalind trying to kill him? Because there is zero chemistry between them, where as the chemistry between her and Tim it’s electrifying!
@@justjoannak… Lucy is definitively still w/h Chris b/c she’s continuing to harbor guilt feelings 😢 for the Rosalind attack for which she blames herself & also for the line she/Tim nearly crossed as he was bleeding 🩸 out on her sofa 🛋️. She also hasn’t let go of the hurt she feels from her perceived rejection from Tim. She misinterpreted his saying to her… “it’s time to move on” as moving on from him when he was referencing her having outgrown being his aide/gofer & the importance of her carving out her own path separate from him. This is why she’s still clinging to a dead ☠️ end ship going absolutely nowhere. Now that Tim is free/clear, hopefully it’ll provide some perspective for her & she’ll end things with Chris. We shall see! 🤔
I love this scene. It is so evident that Tim and Lucy want to be together...the look on their faces, how sad Tim is to see Lucy go with Chris. But I like that Tim is realizing that he really wants to be with Lucy. He is starting to admit It. I hope we can have them together this season, sooner than later. #chenford #teamchenford

Guys, have you noticed how they started to color-coordinate Lucy and Tim's clothes? In the last episode of S4, they both wore light blue, now black and in the next episode it's green!
@Jam K… I too have definitely 👍🏽 noticed also; the coordination of colors. The writers ✍️ know what they’re doing. It’s important to pay attention to little symbolisms, parallels, foreshadowing. Sometimes #Chenford fans are so focused on the BIG STUFF, they’re missing pivotal, pertinent gems 💎 important to their progression & development as individuals & also as two people who are in love ❤ w/h each other.
The way they both turned around to get a final glimpse of each other before they parted ways for the rest of the day is driving me insane bc it's so evident they're into each other, but haven't realized/won't admit it to themselves! Why is she still with Chris??? Her relationship with him is one that we see all the time irl where one person is way more into their partner than the other, and I mean, Chris is cool I guess, but he's so bland. How has Lucy not gotten bored of him yet?
It is the guilt feeling that it was her fault that Chris was almost killed by Rosalind compounded that she was about to cheat on Chris at the very moment she found him bleeding out in her apartment. Unfounded guilt coupled with well founded guilt.
I totally agree! I am glad that nothing has happened between them so far. I want Lucy and Tim's relationship to be clear; I don't want their story to be "we cheated and that's how we got together". For now, I am trusting the process and writers and I hope it will happen at the perfect moment and it'll be epic when they finally get together.
I'm surprised Lucy didn't ask when and why, because it was sudden. I also want Lopez to call Tim out and Ashley call Lucy out, no way she didn't notice the way Lucy looks at Tim when those 3 were in the same room.
It's clearly a conflict in his mid. He cares for her, but he isn't sure that she cares for him. And Lucy? I'm 1001% that she feel for him in season 1 xD!
I felt bad for tim but tbh I don’t think he was sad about the break up, I think he was a bit sad on how she did it but he’s deff more frustrated and sad that he can’t have Lucy when it’s clear they both want that, sure Lucy liked Chris at some point and there was something there but after Rosalind tried to kill Chris she just felt so guilty and has stayed with Chris since there…, in their first kiss (with tim) she pulled tim in wanting more meaning those feelings for her for him where and have been bc let’s be honest Tim and Lucy’s spark has always been there since s1 but overall that action of Lucy showed she doesn’t care about Chris as much as she think she does bc she CLEARLY wasn’t satisfied with Tim’s peck on the lips….
I think more hurting than annoyed, really. And because of some of the things she said, he's probably still not quite sure whether she has feelings for him or not. Especially since she's still with Chris and asked him to go out with them! *facepalm*
Tim was gonna ask her something then Chris walked out ahhhhhhhh why??? And his face when he looked back at Lucy but she was walking away .they are messing with my emotions
Poor Tim man I feel so bad for him ! All he wants is Lucy and it’s so painful seeing her with Chris ! I know Lucy feels guilty for almost sleeping with Tim while in a relationship with Chris but nothing happened ! So she shouldn’t feel guilty!
So literally don't watch the Rookie except for chenford clips on youtube so idk if this has been revealed in the show or not. But my money would be on Chris being Rosalind's partner or accomplice or something who has been covering his tracks and thats how he and Lucy break up eventually when it's revealed. Just my thoughts :)
I also get that vibe that Chris is Rosalind aid, because the question is why was he still alive on that sofá when none of Rosalind victims were found alive.
Agree i was wondering same but no one else knows that on show still. Maybe nolan tells bailey and she accidentally tells Tim…but really that was season 1.
