      Is there a way to have premiere pro identify sounds in hours of footage, like car horns?
      I don’t want to remove them, just identify them?
      Thanks.

    Oh my freakin' God! THANK YOU! Finally, a qualified audio editor who understands that a tutorial is about teaching, not just trying to sell me their custom preset pack. I understand that we all need to earn a living. I just hate getting 10 minutes into some random tutorial only to learn that I have to buy some plugins to move forward. You made this easy to follow and kept my stress level down. Subbed with many thanks:)

    Thank you so much for this. I have been using Audition for many years, and didn't even know about these features. Tonight I was trying to remove two audible thumps from the intro to a song which was quite low in level, and every time I tried using the method I know, I just got an audible click instead. Using your method with spectral analysis and the auto heal function worked perfectly! A HUGE thumbs up to you.

    Wow! This was just what I've been searching for! I've listened to hours and hours of videos with NONE of them addressing how to specifically remove the mouth noises. Well, many did, but only you explained exactly how to select the marquee tool; something most bypass because they are not truly understanding what a 'beginner' is! And you're excellent at showing where in the menu everything is. The only thing that did not work for me was the plus sign to zoom in. Not sure why, but my laptop did not do that. Also, I don't understand how to know (lasso example) the shapes of particular noises. How did you know it was that shape at the top that made the noise, versus any other part of that vertical section? Thanks so much for being so clear!!

    • @AlliandWill
      @AlliandWill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad it was helpful to you! I’m not sure why the plus sign isn’t working, might be the version.
      I think the answer to your other question comes down to experience; after a while you start to know which areas are what, like lower deeper sounds will be at the bottom, bright high pitch sounds will be at the top, clicks or pops will have very unnatural looks to them, etc

    Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I do a bit of this and that for my part-time employers, and most of it uses Adobe products, from copy editing, layout for print, web development, a wee bit of video editing, and now in my lap is the whole series of Lenten podcasts to edit, mix and post. In a previous job some years ago, I'd do audio editing in Soundforge--very basic, but it met our needs for audio narration for instructional projects.
    In my current task, I was being frustrated with the odd hum, computer tones, and paper rustling that arrived in my audio files. And since I'm not able to be there to monitor the recording sessions, I have to work with what I've been given, and just learn enough about Audition to be able to knock these out by editing the waveforms before layering in music and effects. I honestly had no clue that the spectral frequency view was even there, much less that it is as useful as you've shown it to be. I'm enjoying exploring those possibilities.
    Again, thanks much!

    Hi, liked your video. How do you take out the ASL interpreter's voice and only have the breath of the deaf person? The ASL Interpreter is doing the signs of the script and the deaf person is copying her. I read it to the ASL interpreter and so she didn't have to look at the script, but now she has it memorized mostly and she's kind of whispering the phrase while she signs to the deaf guy.

    Is there a way to select part of the track, make the software learn it and then remove all similar instances from the whole, much longer audio file? Without having to silence every instance manually? And i'm talking about 5 seconds of the clip (too long for Auto Heal). Years ago i have recorded the radio play (history, world war 2 mostly) and recently digitalized it. It's all hour upon hours long and every few minutes there is a theme that i would like to get rid completely - just cut it out. But to make that manually it would literally take me days of work.

    Hi, great video. got a question though...Do you know of a way to mute every spike in an audio clip (60 mins long) that is, let's say 1/4 of a second long or whatever length you want. What's happening is, someone who is not talking (on their own audio clip) will make random sounds with their mouth or hit the mic or stuff like that. I just want it to be automated is all.

    i'm getting a consistent but noticeable metal on metal 'scraping' sound in my motorcycle riding videos. it's not loud but is nearly always present (really annoying). i believe it's just the brake pads lightly touching the brake disks, which is not uncommon on some vehicles. do you think this scraping sound would be a good candidate for removing via adobe audition? i don't have creative cloud yet but am thinking about signing up. one thing i can do to isolate the sound to create some kind of sound profile is to ride the motorcycle down a hill then turn off the motor and coast.

    Is there a way to do this throughout a lengthy recording where it happens multiple times? For example...I have a recording where there is repetitive throat clearing and the dialogue is 4 hours long. Is there a way to tag a sample of sound...have a programme analyse the sound and look for similar sounds throughout the track and either delete them or mark the throat clearing sound for you, or any unwanted repetitive sound for that mater?

    I once lassoed a piece of audio to remove clicking noises when a person was messing with their shirt that was micked. It made it kinda of robotic for some reason? Can anyone tell me why? Like, I didn't autoheal cause I didn't know about it, but like, why would it make it sound robotic? Did silencing a piece of audio remove some necessary frequencies for the audio to sound natural?

    • @AlliandWill
      @AlliandWill  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My guess is that’s exactly what happened! In order to maintain normal sounding audio, all the necessary frequencies need to be there, so if you remove some, it will affect the overall perceived sound of it

    • @davidollenbittle
      @davidollenbittle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Auto heal is your best bet if fully removing the audio creates an unnatural sound. You can also use the Click Remover Tool that comes standard in adobe audition for clicks. But if clicks aren't your issue...stick with auto heal.

      It can be tricky depending on the audio you're working with, but generally speaking, it becomes easier over time. Most of the time though, it does require a few attempts, so I'd suggest just experimenting and then undoing if it doesn't work, then try again!

    Could I remove the other voices from the background in a interview?

    • @AlliandWill
      @AlliandWill  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since voices change frequencies a lot, it would be very difficult to review it. If you think about a car horn in the background, it's a loud disruptive noise, but it's one tone, or 1 frequency, so it's easier for the program to isolate that 1 tone and remove it, without affecting other areas of the audio. Whereas, with voice, the same frequencies in your case would also be in the main interview audio, so removing background frequencies would also remove the main voice frequencies.

    This is a very interesting video. Thankyou for this. I have been doing very simple video editing for several years now but have ignored sound for the most part. I'm just now learning how to use equalizers for the benefit of my videos. For instance, it was just yesterday when I found out that the human voice resides in a specific range of frequencies and that I can actually eliminate certain background noises that produce frequencies outside of that range with certain software. At first I thought that everything in an audio track was baked in and couldn't be manipulated. I was so dumb! Do you have a video or can you offer advice about using advanced equalizer tools so that my video dialogue can become better and also isolate it from other unwanted noises? Thankyou

    • @AlliandWill
      @AlliandWill  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, this technique is probably your best chance to do what you want to do, but it highly depends on the source audio and how consistent the frequency of audio you want to remove. It needs to be distinct and different from the frequency around it, otherwise you’ll be removing quite a lot of other frequencies too and the result won’t be what you’re going for. Won’t hurt to try though!

    • @AlliandWill

      If there are pauses in between each person speaking, there is no need to even use Audition; you can simple use any video editing program and cut out the parts you don’t want. The issue is when people have overlapping dialogue, that’s when it becomes very challenging to work with.
