Awwwww..... this one is soooo amazing!!! I play the cross flute since I was 12 (now 36) and the Tin Whistle for the last 4 years... I wish I'll be as good as Joanie one day too! She's such an inspiration to me... SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!!
The guitarist is just brilliant ,,,,,makes it seem so easy ,,,,,the input of these girls has been fantastic ,,,,,Joanie comes over as the big boss ,,,,,,,wouldn’t want TAE argue with her ,,,,,,,,,,
I keep coming back to listen through this concert. It’s good inspiration to continue practicing instead of my just playing the same tunes over and over that I already know. I try to switch to my Boehm flute every so often and I almost need to relearn how to play the tune. It’s mostly the F# difference. Some roles are easier with my C# trill key though.
Andrew ...keep it up ...have a look at some uploads on utube by Lisnageeragh to help widen your possibilities...trad can be played on a modern instrument and you don't have to be born in a thatched house and/ or speak Irish!....You can transpose for solo playing if you wish and play in the D and G keys for sessions...for instance the Carrarroe jig goes well inEb on the Boehm and you can use D in your sessions..unless your playing partner can use Eb also. I have been playing Boehm for around 55 years!
Ah go on girls. Big respect from the Celts of Ireland. Teach your children of our ways. Music is our Culture and belief. Saoirse and greetings from Doire.
Of course it is possible and you can play a wider range of music if you are competent.....old habits die hard! Paddy Carty did and a few other brave souls. Notice how well she handles the f naturals in the second reel....this of course can be done on a good simple system .
Thanks for upload ...never heard this lady on flute before ....keep it up ..nice style and keeping the ground breaking work of Paddy Carty alive.. like the key switch ..these flutes are just more flexible...has she a classical training??> Us fluteplayers should not leave al the good tunes to fiddlers and accordion players!!
Hello! Glad you like the flute playing and so glad to be compared to Paddy Carty, one of my heroes on the flute. I'm self taught, no classical training although it wouldn't have hurt!!! Thanks again, Joanie Madden
And just for the sake of flute-nerdism, Paddy played a Radcliffe-system flute which was designed and tuned like a simple-system flute but with the 6 primary holes covered by padded keys. It was a D flute like the simple system flutes, as well. Joanie plays the modern Boehme-system concert flute tuned to C. I've never heard another Irish player perform on a Boehme-system flute so perfectly and traditionally as Joanie. Lisnageeragh, It does have a very similar noting attack and decay in that both Radcliffe and Boehme flutes have pads over the holes which inhibit note sliding that you may hear on the older simple-system flutes. You have a very good ear.
@@inlandonline Carty played Boehm for a while but used Radcliff for most of his playing years. The Radcliff is , I think, better for trad. He was a real innovator and I think may not be fully appreciated.
I listen to this every few months and is always inspiring!
Excellent 👌 THANK YOU 🌟😀👍🏆💯
Beautiful playing; melody and accompaniment. Cherished!
This is great!!! Thanks for posting this!

Does anyone know the name of the first reel (in C)?
The Fisherman's Lilt, aka "Molly, What Ails You?" right before Banks of the Illen.
まさに神業
god hand
is it a Gene Milligan whistle?
That's a Michael Grinter Eb whistle. Joanie Madden
