It is near impossible to get out of homelessness by yourself. Had I not had the support of my family in my worst days, I do not believe I would have survived. I am still fighting everyday to keep my head above water and remain positive.
Where I'm from you can go to a shelter, stay for 4 weeks or so. Get into a program. Then get housing for a year. Their is a way out on your own. The question is does that participate have the willingness?
I know most of their situations exactly. I worked my whole life and when I became disabled the government decided I was only worth $735 a month. If it weren't for my niece and nephew I'd be under a bridge right now.
You are fortunate to have family to assist you, and I'm sure you help out, too. You must be a lovable person to be invited to live with family, and loved in return. Family is more valuable than gold, a priceless treasure. So many haven't family that wants to assist them, whether drugs or mental illness, personality clashes... I'm happy that your family has stepped up to help!
Steven Lundgrin Rent is too expensive. Jobs are scarce and is being replaced by robots and immigrants. Labor is being outsourced. Climate change is destroying homes and making rent more expensive. You'll see an economic crash this year or in 2020. A revolution will likely happen before 2030. All the indicators are flashing red for a French style revolution. Deregulation, high debt from war, environmental problems and increasing income inequality caused the French Revolution. The Age of revolution happened 30 years after the Industrial Revolution. We're almost 30 years after the Information Revolution. Technological Revolutions tend to cause income inequality at first but it usually corrects with revolts Technological Revolutions always precede political revolutions.
Steven Lundgrin Kids are also homeless. Quantitative easing is destroying the country. Just let the system crash and arrest the bankers. Fix the debt and start anew on an economy backed by gold.
Steven Lundgrin No... Don't make the kids wards of the state. Vagrant Kids were perfectly self reliant back in the late 1800s. No need for them to be wards of the state. I was a ward of the state as a kid. I would do anything for child labor to be legal instead of living in corrupt group homes. As for the last thing you said, I agree.
Brian I did try that already. I ended up in jail for a few months but being in jail was better then outside in the summer and you get free food my brother. Vero Beach FL is not homeless safe and only 2 places that hardly helps like they say they do.
America gives billions to other countries but can't clean up this mess at home. I'll never trust the American government ever again. America's Government is so corrupt. Just look at the Vietnam War well over 60,000 young men were beaten, tortured and killed because our government lied to them. So sad
T bone it's happening again America alredy send millions of aid to Venezuela when the president himself doesn't want it, but America being country police doesn't give a dam and make war and more soldiers will die fighting there regime, smh 🤦♂️
Lisa Garcia : You are a SWEETHEART, but even if you let these ppl camp in your front yard. You probably don't have enough EXTRA money to feed all of them. I will however pass along the word to KGW that you can make room for at least 50 homeless to camp in your front yard. PLEASE give me an update if you notice ANY destruction of your property.
The problem is the same, worldwide - lisa. It has nothing to do with our country first. It is the big money makeing decisions, not your president. Not the politicans. You the people have to buy back your lands. No one will do it for you
Yea, to the 5 top states that are in this condition the worst = California, Washington, Oregon, New York, New Jersey. Guess what, those top 5 are all hard core Democrat states --- see what happens when Democrats run your state. Amazing too, Calif and New York, they are the top 2 states that tax their citizens the most and they are the top two of the entire nation that are the deepest in debt !!! Something wrong with this picture and its at the top -- the states Democrat politicians ripping off the people, lying, stealing, embezzling...Yet these same Democrats want to provide everything free to everyone in the world, you know, any and all illegal immagrants. And who is going to pay for all that, they expect the rest of the country to via Federal monies - in other words, tax the rest of the country and run it into the ground like they have their own state ! Open borders, when you have that you no longer have a country. We can't supply, feed, give medical, housing to all the world its that simple and THAT is what will happen with wide open borders.
My uncle was homeless and lived under a tree. He did not want to live anywhere that would keep him from drinking. He did like to work to earn money but many times he was too sick to work. He was actually a nice person but his alcoholism completely ruled his life. May he rest is peace.
Homelessness comes from lack of livable wages and affordable housing everywhere. Everyone should keep in mind most people are a 500 dollar emergency away from homelessness themselves. Remember by the grace of god go you and yours.
No it doesn't tard. It comes from drug abusing, unmotivated losers 95 percent of the time. I absolutely guarantee that there are many places that are hiring near these disgusting camps.
Jo Je I feel so sorry for you. How sad. Your life must be to need to randomly attack and name call people in the comments to make your self feel important. Also I’m sure it’s easier to tell yourself every homeless single person in America is homeless because of drugs instead of seeing the real Complexity of the situation. Plus than you don’t have to face that it could happen to you. I’m a brain tumor survivor and surviving that experience has given me a lot compassion and understanding toward the struggling of others.
Compassion and understanding is great. And sorely lacking in this country. But I have been homeless. I have been out there. And he is correct in that a good portion is from drugs and alcohol. Myself included. Mine was a lifetime of poor choices. Just thought I would throw that out there. Believe me, I saw it all in the couple years I was on the street
Debbie Potter There are also plenty of rich people that use and abuse drugs and alcohol. Look at the current opioid crisis most of those people were hooked of drugs given to them by doctors. Also saying 95% is a super high number. Another thing is mental illness often plays a roll in homelessness. I’m sorry but no human should be thrown away like trash. I’m a brain tumor survivor and it’s led me to see life is short and we are a just a few bad breaks from ruin. I have a lot of compassion because not everyone has a good support system when it comes to dealing with life. I was in an abusive marriage and beat a brain tumor without my family and friends I would have been on the street.
I lived in Portland for 15 years. When my apartment flooded, I spent a year couch surfing with a toddler. I had a good job, but could not find affordable housing. The spike in rent was criminal, due to a huge influx of people moving to Portland, (many from California.) My point is, don't judge. I had the love and charity of friends to rely on. Many people are not so lucky. Homelessness encompasses so many issues that our government does not want to face. "Get a job" is such an ignorant statement which only serves to undermine the complexity of the issue. Be compassionate. My love and prayers go out to those living on the streets 🙏💓💓💓
the word "judge" has multiple meanings. One of which is "to pass sentence on." Another is "to form an opinion on." I would be a fool to eschew practicing the latter.
Thank you Heather for saying that. Bless your heart & in glad your no longer in that situation but that you had a support system when you were. As you said....MANY do not.
@@bentonja668 did u no the word 'Charge' is a Jewish word meaning i will charge u for that apple for exaple n if u steel it i still will charge u for it.
People don’t realize that everyone, unless you have considerable wealth plus a substantial savings, is one unexpected disaster/expense away from being homeless.
scott hares is right. Even if you gave these people millions of dollars they would blow it all and be broke within a few years. 80% of NFL players go broke and 70% of lottery winners do the same. It wasn't because they didn't have options it is because THEY MADE BAD DECISIONS.
@Mary O'Bear I left home broke at 17yrs old and now net worth $2million, no debt with $100k in the bank, I can literally have a year off work and still be ok.
I work for the city cleaning those camps every day. They didn't mention that over 80% of the campers you see with tents are drug addicts. This is a drug problem not a housing problem. There is housing for couples and housing for people with dogs. Shelter beds go unfilled every day. These folks will not go to shelters because the shelters and housing organizations require them to be sober. We pull over 500 TONS of garbage PER MONTH out of the city from camps! One company alone! Thousands of needles too! Every day I find stolen property, some with the security tags left right on them. They are people but they need to be looked at for what they are. Drug addicts needing to support their habits by any means. I can say I understand because I've been to the depths of hell myself, but I woke up and got help. They can't be helped because they don't want help. How can you fix a problem that doesn't want to be fixed?
Turtle M you’re absolutely right about the shelters. The shelters have rules and you must leave during the day, the people don’t want to abide by the rules of the shelter.
You think you know so much! Not all people are drug addicted on the street.. there is a shortage of affordable housing here. Apartments are $1000 or more now!!!! So if you have unexpected medical or lose your job you could be homeless... have some empathy
They want help but how do you give out perseverance and will power to ppl who have had it stolen and broken! Most the ppl claiming to help are the bad guy in the end so stay put cause if you reach up could be knocked down harder! How do you get a out if you spend every second surviving! We have to provide mental heath care and awareness to these ppl! Fix the source to fix the problem!
@Frankie Flannery The thing that makes it even worse is illegals since they are ghost on paper and use stolen identities. They can get welfare benifets and work a job at the same time. That's why they bring their kids with them it use to be just single men that would cross the border. Also with the increase of people coming in rent prices sky rocket. Making it worse on poor Americans. Illegal immigration hurts Americans that are poor the worst because they can't scam the welfare system like illegals.
She raised TWO kids who either couldn't or wouldn't get her off the streets or whom she decided she would not get off the streets for even if their help was there. Irresponsible bullshit & I dont feel an ounce sorry for her. Make better choices all around! BEST way around this kind of situation at the end of your road.
Better be financially secure by the time you 50 because there are no jobs for people that age or older. They become homeless and there is almost no chance to better your situation. It's everywhere. 85% will retire at poverty level in the next 15 years. 70% don't even have $10k saved.
Why not set up public campgrounds? Let them have access to water, bathrooms with showers and social services? They like the privacy of a tent which most would.
Those were my thoughts. It can't be anymore expensive than shelters, cleaning up trash, needles, policing to move them from one area to the next, having to clean up feces, or have eye sores all over the city.
Willow is a Lovely woman, and she wears No makeup, she seems very calm and a Good woman, I Wish her All the Best she can have..God Bless her, and her dog..
Worked years on the highway cleaning up camps. Tents with needles, crack pipes, and suspect stollen goods got rolled up immediately. The neatly stowed packs and modest tents got left alone.
Wtf is wrong with people!? She was sweet, minding her own and taking care of her dog, going to great lengths to do so. And you have nothing better to do or say than dismiss her? So fucked.
If there is a god ! This wouldn't happen ! Is ur greedy mess up governments that runs ur country ! Those who have n those who haven't ! N u guys call the land of the FREE !
Tents and homeless are NORMAL unlike what the cop said. Many people are there of their own causes but others are there because of circumstances beyond their control.
I volunteer as a street level outreach worker for many years and times throughout my life. As a runaway youth who lived on the streets of Canadian cities from coast to coast and as far north as Yellowknife NWT...this is what I know to be true and I have learned as a volunteer Most people who live on the street are addicted to something yet the addiction is often secondary- a side effect of being homeless , feeling hopelessness and someone ( usually for their own twisted reasons ) introduces you drugs and or alcohol to bury the pain, stay warm, maybe to stay alert or awake when sleeping isn't safe etc. At this point feeling numb is a blessing for most people. What would you do if you lost everything after loosing your house to the bank? Rejoice? I doubt it. Drugs and a drink might sound good to some who are otherwise strong. Then there are those who chose living on the street as a way of life but they play the pity card to get free hand outs to continue drinking daily. These people are angry and feel society owes them a free ride, a welfare cheque, a cheap house and all with no effort on their part. Like locusts they travel from one town to the next across Canada and even the USA looking for the places with the best handouts, posting online to their community and they swarm in.....they call themselves the tribe. There are those with mental health issues and have fallen through the cracks when our mental health programs in Canada and USA were reduced to nothing and these people were pushed into the community with no long term plan for care or even housing. They are under medicated and often thrown in jail when all other forms of control like meds are exhausted The last group of people I met on the street while I was a runaway. These are the people who are in hiding from someone or something. They do not want to be found and so they lie about their name, who they are, their past etc. So not to be found they do not work, apply for housing, go to hospital when sick...some have warrants and are avoiding prison...they may be dangerous
So if it was your property, business or area where your kids play you would be ok with piss, shit, drugs, needles, rats, puke, alcohol, trash and disease??? That’s ridiculous on top of crime no one wants that.
@@kimberlywilbanks443 What other option is there? Should we just lock them up and act like it never was a problem to begin with? If they keep it mostly clean and tidy wouldn't it be better for them to be in one big relatively safe area rather than be scattered all over town sleeping on sidewalks? There is no simple solution here.
That’s the problem, they don’t keep it clean and they cause trouble by robbing people and taking shits and leaving needles in people’s yards and in front of businesses.
The USA is the richest country in the world homelessness should not exist if this government has millions to send to other countries there concern should be focused here first
Lisa Garcia your local Lefty government is in charge. most times wouldnt even allow the government, the military to intervein. Your Left political vote created this. No solution for you in sight.
I’m homeless in Portland and it does seem like a large portion are content being out here doing the drugs. No aspirations or legitimate goals. Other than scoring their next fix. It’s almost as if they’re getting compensated in some way for being out here. They always seem to have gift cards and dope. Also I never understood how some of these homeless can become hoarders out here on the street. Doesn’t it get tiring having to move all of your belongings and trash on a weekly, if not daily basis? I have a sleeping bag, a back pack with a couple coats inside, my phone and earbuds. I do have a job at the moment. Gonna save up money to purchase a 1 acre lot. Either here or down in Texas where land is cheap.
Hey there are places in Texas that will be given to u for around 45 dollars a month! My uncle tried to give the property to me but I didn't take it. I went to visit him and went to look at the property, and it was fucking beautiful!!!! Had a little community and lakes but the land was about five miles away. I wish I would have taken it now. But it was outside of a town called...... I can't remember. I'll find out if it interests
yep, and governments all over the world are drooling of usa economical success. 20 years ago in my country there were no "shitty jobs", then you could live with any kind of job, now we have these 8$/h jobs all over and renting prizes go sky high.
I suppose drug use has nothing to do with it. Guess who is soft on drugs, the democrats.Guess who is soft on crime, the democrats, guess who wants to promote crime and poverty, the democrats.

susan duncan In Salem, OR rent was $475 for a two bedroom apartment in 2010. The same apartment is going for $850 now in the second half of 2018. That’s nearly an 80% increase in 8 years. But to be fair minimum wage increased at about the same rate (78%) since 2010.
Really puts this into perspective. People need to step up; family, community, then if they fail the state needs to intervene. Rehabilitate and institutionalize as needed.
not that easy, Family members are tired of taking care of them.. My wife 39 year old son lives with us a FREELOADER my wife is older then me. Told her that I will be kicking him out when she dies that I will not be taking care of him the rest of my life, He is keeping up from enjoying our retirement
@Haley Tathem amen. These people need to help themselves. Rhier drug use and addiction is thier choice. Thier choices are not and shouldn't be societies problem.
I was homeless for years in the late 1980's. Lived in my pickup truck. Got tired of it and rejoined the world. Retired in Mexico. That said, my experience with homeless is most of it is lifestyle choice. Many complain that all their check would go to rent, yet 2 or oould pool their money and split the cost. They choose not to - and complain they can't because they don't do well with others, yet live with hundreds of others tent to tent in these "communities"? Many have addiction and other problems and dope and booze is a better way to spend their government money than living like a human would. Evolution has gone backwards for them. I don't mean this all in a bad way, just what I have seen with my own eyes and own experience.
Actually, no they can't do that because having unauthorized persons living in the apartment will get them both thrown out. HUD housing has a ton of stupid rules. Then there's utilities. Then they still have to pay for food and transportation (bus pass). Also medications, clothing, hygiene products, ect. Even with a roommate they wouldn't make it through one month.
@@robolasher Shortly after this interview, they FINALLY got into public housing & now have their own little studio apt. You're dad receives social security supplemental income which is a tax payer funded welfare program that gives adults money each month who never work a steady job, never worked enough to pay into ssi so they rest of us basically pay them for being lazy bums most of their adult life. If he was legitimately disabled and paid into ssi he would recieve ssdi. So basically your dad enjoys others financially supporting him. I'm sorry your father is a deadbeat.
Trust me. Ssi is enough to get a cheap room share situation or studio. Those who cannot live pff the monthly FREE HELP the government gives is just downright disrespectful. All thosw on ssi who say they cant use it to live on have spending or addiction issues.
The biggest hindrance to new housing and the ensuing high costs are due to over-regulation by the State/City/County. Keep voting for Dems and this will only get worse.
Umm, after a long long career in Banking/Mortgage/property development But I guess you know best? The costs of building a low range home are too high, so why would a developer build a home that costs 150K and profit 20K? They are building 400K+ homes that show a profit at much much higher rates of return I retired 7 years back at 52.. over 28 years dealing with these issues.. ' Cutting costs from the regulators will absolutely help in low to middle-income home pricing. More homes built=lower priced homes and more housing built. Interest rates have been historically low, lower than when I dealt with them daily. Artificially low by the way! There are 1000s of other factors involved, but you do you! Suck it up buttercup
$10/hour jobs and no unions or laws to protect the working class. Makes no difference about political party. Groceries are way overpriced and it shows that those stores are making huge profits as there are 3 stores within 5 miles of each other. This country is so greedy. We work and have little to nothing left over and are fired for no reason. Corporations are toxic environments. Eventually we age so much and are chewed up and spit out by our companies or field of expertise,.
+Markus Patients no I don't agree. tax payers should not pay for anyone's education. we are already tax to death. stop giving illegals free stuff that taxpayers pay for. if you want to work and have a roof over your head, go to cities that are hiring. A two yr trade school will train ppl to work in good paying jobs ~ welding, electrical, plumbing, etc.
Watching this brought back horrible memories of the 3 years I went from one place to another so I didn't have to sleep outside. In my case I lived in a beautiful home on 2 acres of land the well was contaminated when we complained and nothing was done we withheld the rent. The owner, rather than fix the well decided to evict us. We went to Maryland for 2 years and my significant other was diagnosed with terminal COPD and 14% lung function, so, we came home. He and went to his moms with his son and I went to a friend. That was the beginning of the horror of being homeless. I hope no one thinks anyone enjoys not having a place to go that is yours. As you pointed out a lot of people have mental health issues, and if you don't you will after any amount of time being homeless. I ended up in a battered women's shelter and just knowing I at least had a bed to sleep in gave me the chance to regroup and make a plan. Lack of food, sleep, and a calm environment is not conducive to thinking straight. I didn't give up, but I have an insane drive to do what needs to be done on my own. I am not the norm. I can't stress this enough, one sickness, broken car,or job loss could result in you being homeless, so before you judge think. I am no longer homeless but it is always in the back of my head, it's the thing I fear the most above even death. Actually If I was to become homeless I would rather die.
From someone who was homeless. The problem is the camps cant police themselves because those doing the damage are often violent or powerful, and they use intimidation as a tool to make it so respectful homeless are powerless to stop it
What I observe is predators go where the majority are the most vulnerable.. the most vulnerable no matter what level of society, can be the least functional which is why they are in a system whether it is in CPS, with a social worker or in a tent city. The majority of FUNCTIONAL people with self esteem have abandoned the rest of society when things started breaking down in the 1990s ...We are at the mercy of increasingly malignant narcissists that seem to be reproducing at a rapid rate.. the more we abandon transitional Biblical morality, the more toxic the world becomes it seems to me.

Thank you for making this video, I understand that there has to be rules in homeless shelters, and these people clearly don’t want to play by those rules. The only possible compromise I can see here for a quick first solution, would be if the City or some Charity, builds or purchases a campground for those people to go.
DP 63 I've been a psyche nurse for 25 year. Perhaps there are/ were additions involved, and I'm all for escaping a f..... Up parent. However you obviously failed to remember her own childhood history and her own conditioning. Must be lonely seeing life through such a black and white, lens. Learn some compassion. Don't judge others unless you've walked in their shoes!
Why doesn't the city set aside a large amount of land for the homeless and set it up like a campground? They could assign lots to anyone interested in staying and the homeless wouldn't have to worry about being moved. This, in turn, would satisfy homeowners who wouldn't have to deal with the homeless trashing their neighborhood. They could install toilets, showers and taps and the police could monitor the area once in awhile instead of patrolling the parks and streets constantly. Anyone in violation of the rules set forth would be removed. I know this wouldn't solve the problem of homelessness, but it might help clean up the streets a little. Someone must have thought of this already, so what am I missing?
Even if i am far away in germany, i know the answer. The problem is the same all over the world. The land does not belong to the city....it is simple. They are not allowed to put up social housing. Even in germany they destroyed the social housing ince decades. Who is them? Investors of course. They own everyting togehter with the churches. They want profit. They will not give away land for free or to help. You, the people, you have to gather in big groups to buy estates and rent them out.. This is the only solution. Like in life, you have to help yourself. And in this case, we have to help ourselves by buying the estates back.
Someone burned my tent down with all my belongings because they clamed that territory. I lost my job a few days later because I had to leave work to deal with the loss. My life was threatened almost daily, I was raped by many. I worked my butt off to get on my feet but there is always something that lies just ahead that brings a person to their knees again. Don't judge a person. You don't know their journey.
I cry for the good people and the bad- we R not taking care of our own but spending big money on the illegal aliens -- and ours suffer- Build the WALL and then help these people
Please dont just believe everything channels 3,6,10, etc tell you. The current puppet would not have or have had such (blind?) strong support if folks would learn to think more freely. meg grotte, many times it’s because of a mix of things. Drugs and alcohol are a side effect. I would say that most of the people that I encountered either had mental problems, disabled, addicted, or just couldn’t work due to the way that they looked or acted. Once you are in that cycle, no one wants to hire you. For me, I wasn’t able to find work during the recession, I wanted to go to school but had no money. I ended up in the hospital after passing out and being mugged. My family was unstable. So, it was easier and more economical to live in a tent. I saved bottles and cans for money, sometimes up to 80 bucks a day. I lived behind a Wendy’s by some railroad tracks and got a job there. Saved enough money to fly to Hawaii. Gardened for money. Then eventually moved to Alaska to live in a fishing cannery. The best program for me was one that gave me a shower and an address to put on applications. They also provided me with work clothes. Many people just want to be able to work and save money. If you work and can’t save, you become hopeless. Drugs and alcohol help escape reality. Then the cycle continues. It’s very hard to quit when you are on the street because it brings you warmth and helps you sleep.

I'm actually a self-supported missionary and my Ministry is literally helping people financially. This is how I feel the love of Jesus I do other things as well. When I was 13 I started to feel extremely I thought it was normal because I had been a teenager at the time. But sadly life happens in the ages of 9 to 13 or somewhat blocked out. I would say a good chunk of my life is sort of blocked out. Even in the midst of great suffering the best thing my mom did for us was take us to church. We wear white living in the inner city and my grandmother told us to go to church she told my mom to take us and we did. As a Christian Missionary I have literally pray for people who are addicted to drugs that are injected. I even prayed for them in the name of Jesus without them asking and they were delivered from their demons. I have seen the power of Jesus and completely understand that there is a demonic you're going on between God's angels and demons. I'm now 40 I'm still single but one day mr. right will come but until then I will continue to do what Jesus asked which must have loved the people in Taiwan. I work with the homeless God will tell me who to feed her to serve as I'm driving. When I first came to Taiwan I could really feel the demonic warfare when I entered the country in the city that I was in. Who is the nurse you might be thinking I've got psychological problems but I really don't. I've had eight years of counseling. Not to mention inner healing and deliverance which really does work by the way. Anyways if you'd like to talk more I'd be happy to talk with you find me on messenger. The one thing I can say is Jesus gives you courage I have confronted things that most people would run away from. It is all because of the blood of Jesus that I have courage to do what he has asked. I will continue to pray for you that you are protected and please know that when I pray God answers the prayers I pray he does that for anybody who prays to him. Jesus said if you call upon me I will answer and respond. Please know that you'll always have someone praying for you and that will never be back in the situation you had to overcome. But I can tell you is that Jesus never causes the bad things that Satan and his demons. Of course we have free will to do what's right. But please know that I'm sure there are things in your life that you had no control over but I promise you God has raised you up so you may fight the darkness that is in this world through the power of God. If you'd like to know more please find me on Facebook just type in Meg grotte. The best time to call me is when I'm sleeping just typing what time is it in Taiwan and I really be happy to talk with you. Mom did the best she could she works and we grew up on welfare it was through the support of our church that honestly we had good holidays and that we did not wind up homeless ourselves. I did have a friend from Biola University who grew up homeless. And she eventually got her PhD I forget in what but she's done amazing things because of Jesus in her life. Thankfully many years ago our family was able to get a home from Habitat for Humanity I would be really interested to talk with you about families that are homeless because I know that there are many groups that are trying to build tiny homes for the homeless and to start communities. But I find that because of the Democrats and Congress it's very difficult to get these things implemented even though they're very successful and small rural area. Homelessness in any country is dear to my heart mainly because I had a friend who was homeless for 2 years. Sadly he suffers from Lyme disease, metal poisoning, PTSD and fibromyalgia. He's got some kind of sensitivity to electromagnetic fields as well. I keep encouraging him to call me because I prayed for so many people to be delivered. He is not possessed because he is a follower of Jesus but oppression is different it's one of demon is assigned to oppress you to the point where your will is broken and you eventually give up. I have experienced this in my own life for most of my life and if it really did help me to deal with people who are possessed there's something about drugs alcohol some people are more sensitive when evil happens whether they're forced to do it or they do it without realizing but spiritually it's like opening up a door to the demonic. I know this sounds crazy but talk to police officers who work with people that are supposedly on meth or anything like that. Ask him about the Satan worshipers that are in America and the which is better practicing. In our country we ignore the spiritual realm but living in Taiwan man I have seen things that would make your mouth drop wide open. It is all connected physical emotional mental and spiritual. You're on the front lines and this is why I say I will pray for you more. I don't even know if you're a Christian I don't usually share like this but I want to give you a challenge go check out Jesus for about 6 months. Go to a church make sure they're not a pseudo Christian cult. Tell the person that you're looking for a church that is biblically centered but I also understand spiritual warfare. Tell them that you're not a Believer and you want to specifically understand the life of Jesus and to understand what demonic warfare is. To understand who Sataan is and why the world is so screwed up. If you know the enemy you can be a more effective nurse but if you know the Savior that you can overcome any darkness that walks into your hospital just start with Jesus and if you have any questions related to any Christian bias that may have been spread through the stupid media please feel free to write me and I will have to leave respond or give you a voice message through MessI have studied every world religion in my life I have been oppressed demonically in ways you can imagine but I also know this because we went to church my family did not become a statistic we have never done drugs, alcohAnd to be honest we've have never been in jail or had children out of wedlock . My brother has four children he is happily married he has he's a good husband and father my sister's happily married and she's in the Navy and has a wonderful life. My other brother he's doing well but he's a little bit more worldly but many years ago I was watching The Simpsons and God told me that Mike and my dad would be fine this was about 10 years ago oh one more thing even if you never decide that you want to follow Jesus I would still be happy to be your friend. The reason I share all this is because you have a kind heart and you know what it's like to go through hell because you've lived through ii. God's kingdom of good is real and it is on Earth but Satan's kingdom of evil is also on Earth and this is not permanent one day Satan will be put in hell where he belongs along with all his evil henchman and along with every person who has not repented and only commits evil. And I'm sure you know what I'm talking about the child abusers the murderers. I am no better than them I only can say that when I die and stand before God it's because of the blood of Jesus That Forgives my sins. Jesus saves and Jesus gives new lives if we're willing to take it. Oh and on a side note animals go to heaven. Hopefully we can become friends
Stop judging other ppl u dnt know there story and everyone has one being homeless dosnt mean those ppl are worthless there still human beings and only God can judge.
KGW Channel 8 DOESN'T need to feel GOOD about bringing this documentary to the people of Portland. ( WITHOUT A SOLUTION ) Getting to know 100 plus homeless, fixed what??? The reporters seem so concerned, but would N-E-V-E-R want even the best of the bunch to camp in front of their home!!!! When occupy Portland took over our BEAUTIFUL Park blocks years ago. It took quite a long time to repair the damages, and Portlanders have since become desensitized since.
+ mryt : It's so irritating that the bleeding hearts that beg for a " Sanctuary City " to FEEL GOOD about themselves. Are the last ones to reach into their pockets, and would N-E-V-E-R want these homeless camping in front of their homes. I'm not saying ALL of them, but 98% of the homeless could care LESS how they leave their surroundings. I am going on the record saying " I don't want ANY of them living in front of my house" I will pack up their tent and put it back in the STOLEN Fred Meyers cart, and send them on their way. SCREW the Sanctuary City Mayor.
I rarely locked my doors in the Midwest, then I moved to Medford Oregon, and my motorcycle was stolen from my garage while I was gone for 5 minutes. Learning lessons the hard way, and losing your innocence are never fun.
Land/Space is not the issue, it's the laws that govern that land/space. Come to Texas and see the homeless problem. We don't have one. *If you don't know,...Texas is a Republican state.
THERE ARE JOBS...... BUT TEXAS WON'T TOLERATE HOMELESS FOLKS HANGING AROUND ON THE SIDEWALK.....THEY WILL RUN THEM OFF, SO THEY FIND WORK......AT LEAST THE AREA WHERE I LIVE.....
You people, all around the world. Stop giving your money to the banks and learn to invest, even small amounts. The technologie, blockchain, will bring us all togheter as fundraisers. We have the power to connect and invest in real estates, like big investment companies. We have the power to buy us our homes back. ONE AFTER ANOTHER! If you all agree on an interest rate of 4% and if you all fight your greed- then we will win the housing problem worldwide. We, the people, have to be the OWNERS. WE, the people, habe to set up the rents and we will take care of a stable rent. Start to learn investing your money DIRECTLY, without banks or investmentfonds or shares. Do not give away your money to banks! I know it is a long way, but this is the only way. We have to connect us via blockchain and code a software that enables us all to invest. Let us built this community, starting now! I am willing to give my life to this vision. The impossible will be made possible! We are Black Swans! Like it, share this, and we built a public investment company, managed by mathematics.
Mr. Panda you should really check your facts. Besides NY and CA, Texas has the 3rd highest homeless population in the US. So...maybe you just ignore them?!?!
There are homeless people in Texas. Most live in cars. You don't see them as frequently as you do in California and the west because the weather is too extreme in Texas.
William schlenger. Exactly! The least they can do is try to keep the place in some order. With this neglectful attitude, it is no wonder that many find themselves in this position.
sweetnccarter yeah cuz those “illegal immigrants “ are actually accepting the help. A lot (not all) of the homeless ppl WANT TO live in “freedom “ “no rules” etc. ITS A CHOICE !
When my parents were illegal they didn’t take a dime from the government. They scrimped and saved worked hard. They relied on family and friends until they got on their feet. They met here, worked for 3 years, got married, had kids, Reagan offered amnesty, and the rest is history. Why did they manage without government help? Two reasons: 1) family (who were all doing the same thing they were) were able to help with housing (imagine seven 20 year olds sharing a home and bills) to start up with and childcare 2) cost of living was a billion times more reasonable.
I remember back in the 1980s in Detroit they gave poor families a free home it was a win win for the families and city the city got the property tax the families got a house.five years later most of the families lost their homes because they didn't pay their property tax. Not because they couldn't they wouldn't..
I have been on my own since I was 16 and I’ve learned that doing things you don’t want to do and making sacrifices such as not having pets you don’t need to survive makes all the difference in life. I’m 46 now with a family and I still have to make the decision to do the things I don’t want to do and make the sacrifices to keep my family going. I guess some people just want it handed to them so they do not have to do the hard work.
+ Chris Mariani : KUDOS, about the pets. It appears that a pit-bull is standard issue for many homeless. They would rather have a PIT than a tooth brush....
They have pets for a basic social connection also a pitbull will protect more than a toothbrush and statistically it's impossible that every single person on the streets lazy
Paul Monaco actually, the lazy ones are those sitting at daytime warming centers for 5-6 hours 5 days a week and bumming cigarettes off of other homeless who do actually hustle
Willow has not reached out for supportive services. She is definitely a candidate for welfare, social security, and housing assistance. She’s not interested, because she most definitely is suffering from drug abuse, mental illness, probably exasperating her seizures. Where are her kids? Burned any bridges lately? She can make a choice and get better, but it takes willingness, and work. She would prefer living in a tent with her dog, because it’s legal to in sanctuary cities. Living in our half empty shelters requires following rules. When you decriminalize drugs, get rid of vagrancy laws, and allow people to live in tents to use drugs, and make drug deals, and let once unacceptable behaviors, including to beg and steal without consequence. The problem is only going to get worse. This isn’t going to end well. And I bet that the do good mayors and governors who helped create this policy nightmare will blame Trump.
Voter ID won't work when they are using Drivers Licenses and giving those out to illegals who have been brainwashed to believe the Democrats are trying to help them.
Not enough challenge to Landlords who are so rich that they control the government. Landlords are so powerful they even get rent from SSA: A section 8 tenant pays $400/m for an $1800/m apartment, the landlord still collects the whole $1800.
Rent is too expensive. 2500 a month where I live. I've been 7 years homeless. I live with my mom because I can't afford a place. I'm 32 with my husband 34 and our 5 year old daughter. I'm lucky to have my mom's help. We have jobs but can't afford rent. God help the homeless, I wish the city would give them a designated place to set up camp where they won't have to move. ❤
rthomas2471 you know, taxes should at least help cover some of this. But there’s 1) terrible management and 2) very little empathy and willingness from tax payers to accept that their money would go to help people in need. As you saw in the video, a lot of people believe that drug addiction is a choice. Mentalities like that make helping these communities very difficult. Drug addicts who are also homeless also need help. Are also humans. But no one wants to help them. No one wants to help those who don’t have a moving story. No one wants to help other human beings simply because they’re humans.
@@everycolourinthesky "working people are obligated to pay for those you gave up" What is section 8? Why do I, who have bills to pay and money anxiety have to pay even more taxes to provide to those who will probably live the rest of there lives off of my assistance. They arent my children and I dont need to support them.
allahu akbar why do you? Its just simple, switch it around. Wouldn’t you be grateful if people were empathetic enough to lend you a hand despite their own struggles and their own issues, simply bc you need help as well?
Prayers for all the Homeless. It’s Obvious Portland is not interested in helping the Homeless People who may have problems but there Children of God and Human Beings . Instead of comparing Portland to LA SF and other Cities just help the People.
Please work on your documentary skills. The background music is unnecessary and annoying, as are the constant closeups of the clipboard survey and captions/stats. Raw is better.
Philippians 4:6-7 CSB Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Maybe our government should quit worrying about helping illegal immigrants and help these people. They give non citizens housing and healthcare and leave our own people to live on the streets.
Nikki Ann you are awfully misinformed. The USA government doesn’t give free anything to anyone. Much less non citizens. I encourage you to do a deep research on the specifics of what you’re saying, you will find out you’re wrong. Only asylum seekers get some sort of aid. And in order to achieve that status, it’s a long process that often turns its back on these people.
@@everycolourinthesky I've done my research. And most "asylum seekers" are illegal immigrants using loopholes to gain asylum. They are coming over at insane rates and they are most certainly getting it free because they certainly aren't paying taxes. Dont talk to me in that condescending tone. You have no idea what I've researched. It sounds like you are misinformed.
There’s many resources to get out of poverty. People don’t research enough to find them, or just want to stay addicted, or just want to live the homeless life. There’s many jobs at the moment. If need be, they can work in the fields picking fruits for extra money. There’s alway solutions.
Poor them, you are going to make me cry. Difference is people come here seeking opportunities and jobs Americans don't want because they're lazy. It's their choice to live like that but blaming others it's easier right?
In Portland the low income government housing is 800.00 a month for a studio apt plus electricity. It takes 2 jobs just to pay rent, if you cant make it to the food bank you dont eat, if you have a car you pay to park in most areas 7days a week now. There are tons of jobs but when you have to work 2 just to pay phone, electricity, rent, gas, parking you do not get to buy food, toiletries are only affordable at the dollar store, and if any unexpected expenses or even regular maintenance on say your car arises you are screwed!
I feel bad for all but the man who said that his kids have their own families and he never lets them know his situation. That made me sad. And that poor lady with the doggie. I’m so sad
It's not just drugs and laziness. It's also mental health issues. Some people aren't sick enough for care in an institution but they're too mentally ill to keep a job.
I have a mental illness and I fall into the category of not sick enough for care, but too sick to work. I try 100% every day. I'm fortunate to have a loving family who would never let me be homeless. Without them, I probably would be.
Why is this issue growing ? one person Chucky Hales started/opened the flood gates allowing tents and hands off by the police by city commissioners, I posted this before the ending and revealing of KGW's revelation about Hales
Tent city Now! that is all USA needed. BTW those people can move to Detroit there are a lot of ghost towns in that half ruined city. enough empty houses.
$1000 for rent? For a room, maybe. Rent prices ARE NOT affordable for those with less than. The greedy rich get richer while they kick those less fortunate deeper in the dirt. There should be protests everywhere demanding LOWER RENT. I'm not saying next to nothing but come on now. Raising rent annually with not much else changing is.......UNAFFORDABLE (if that's even a word)!
My father was homeless, and after some time he could not adapt to living in a home. Sometimes it's to late. He died in a motel in 1988. He had drugs, and mental heath issues.
I had thought of something like that as well. Cities could also build fairly basic structures that don't have conditions on them that would allow people to get off of the street and in some kind of shelter. I think part what keeps homeless from going to shelters are the conditions that they put on being admitted. We would still have all of the issues and disfunction but it would at least be housed.
Realtors are to blame for homelessness. They should not be able to sell homes to investors instead of homebuyers and should not be able to set rents or home values.
I tried to do the right things in life. My husband and I were both military when I lost everything. My brother died traumatically in 2012 three weeks later I got the message my husband was dead. I couldn’t handle it and did the only thing I knew, put my uniform on and kept going. Rapid deployments left me physically and mentally broken. The military pays me a few grand a month for my dead husband and my line of duty injury. My parents went into isolation after the deaths. They haven’t contacted me in months. I’ve isolated completely in a crappy duplex with my two senior Dogs, terrified of losing them. Money means absolutely nothing when you’re soul is dead. I pay my bills when I can get out of bed, usually couple months late bc I don’t care. I don’t talk to anyone but if I hear of an animal or disabled person in need, I donate. I’ve begged the VA for some support or someone to talk to “there are no resources” for a surviving spouse and/or 100% disabled PTSD female vet. If I knew how to get well, I’d tell the military to keep their money. I just need help, all my friends are dead from combat or suicide. I’m a 40 year old college graduate who served 10 years. I just want the pain to stop.
Sister,I am a 100% disabled vet(female). It's not easy,VA despises us. But,it CAN be done.you are not alone.there ARE programs specifically for women.you fought before, fight now.you can do it.
Don't do drugs, take care of your business, and chances are you won't end up on the streets. It happens to people who do drugs/alcohol and make bad decisions. Then they don't do anything to change their situation.
@@MrPreacher8770 explain that to a twelve year old child. Explain that to the veteran who's denied benefits. Explain that to the ones with mental disease. You can't be like that brother. It really can happen to anyone.
Thanks to KGW for producing this. Governments and social services agencies prioritize giving help to trouble makers. The disabled and elderly, whose Social Security is insufficient to pay exorbitant rent, are left to fend for themselves on the street, among the mentally ill and criminals.
It is near impossible to get out of homelessness by yourself. Had I not had the support of my family in my worst days, I do not believe I would have survived. I am still fighting everyday to keep my head above water and remain positive.
Good!!! No person is an island.. Reach out to positive people to help
@brian bowes amen
Was it because of mental illness? I became homeless due to mental illness, I had money but no jobs.
Where I'm from you can go to a shelter, stay for 4 weeks or so. Get into a program. Then get housing for a year. Their is a way out on your own. The question is does that participate have the willingness?
Jesse russ where are you from?
I know most of their situations exactly. I worked my whole life and when I became disabled the government decided I was only worth $735 a month. If it weren't for my niece and nephew I'd be under a bridge right now.
that the government is not very good at supporting the disabled people even you work your whole life
How old are you?
John Perkins 60
I hear you
You are fortunate to have family to assist you, and I'm sure you help out, too. You must be a lovable person to be invited to live with family, and loved in return. Family is more valuable than gold, a priceless treasure. So many haven't family that wants to assist them, whether drugs or mental illness, personality clashes... I'm happy that your family has stepped up to help!
"A little frustrating" she said. If we all had such a kind, forgiving soul...
Why not let them camp in the yard of the laws makers. bet there would be a solution really quick
Brian Ernst We're collapsing. Can't fix it.
So sad
T bone it's happening again
America alredy send millions of aid to Venezuela when the president himself doesn't want it, but America being country police doesn't give a dam and make war and more soldiers will die fighting there regime, smh 🤦♂️
they lie all the time and occasionally tell the truth so the idiots out there will see them as trust worthy. Oldest trick in the book.
This made me cry!.... god bless you all!,we are all too quick to judge, half of us are one pay check away from this situation, stay humble !
Let's take care of This countries needs first it is our home after all
Lisa Garcia : You are a SWEETHEART, but even if you let these ppl camp in your front yard.
No one will do it for you
Correct. Priority one.
Yea, to the 5 top states that are in this condition the worst = California, Washington, Oregon, New York, New Jersey. Guess what, those top 5 are all hard core Democrat states --- see what happens when Democrats run your state. Amazing too, Calif and New York, they are the top 2 states that tax their citizens the most and they are the top two of the entire nation
that are the deepest in debt !!! Something wrong with this picture and its at the top -- the states Democrat politicians ripping off the people, lying, stealing, embezzling...Yet these
same Democrats want to provide everything free to everyone in the world, you know, any and all illegal immagrants. And who is going to pay for all that, they expect the rest of the
country to via Federal monies - in other words, tax the rest of the country and run it into the ground like they have their own state ! Open borders, when you have that you no longer have a country. We can't supply, feed, give medical, housing to all the world its that simple and THAT is what will happen with wide open borders.
You can’t give drug addicts free stuff!
Jo Je
I feel so sorry for you.
Debbie Potter
There are also plenty of rich people that use and abuse drugs and alcohol.
Naa not 500, you can get that written off or on a repayment plan if you don't have the money.
John Smith, the point of the poster was to avoid the forming of opinions in the absence of information.
Thank you Heather for saying that. Bless your heart & in glad your no longer in that situation but that you had a support system when you were. As you said....MANY do not.
Open borders.

Parents also without my dad over the years I would be one of those poor souls
Pure nonsense! It's a lifetime of poor decisions - simple as that!
@@scotthares that and support do you think Brooklyn Beckham would be a big hot shot photographer without his parents, don't think so
scott hares is right.
I want to thank the people that made this video. It was made fairly, objectively and helped to illustrate the "other side" of this issue.
Good point Turtle. It's their own choice. These people could do something better with their lives.
Turtle M they are Human Beings because there on drugs , you just can’t throw them away like trash , they need help
Willow should have affordable housing. Having seizures are no joke.😟😟
Saddest part is she has two adult kids who don't give a damn about her
In Kansas City we have a tiny house project and it has reduced the never of homeless by 29%. I have no clue why other cities just won't try it.
There are a handful of homeless people who truly need help. But 90% of them are just drug addicts.
Who made up these "stats"?
They don't make enough to save, and we lack affordable housing.
@@johnscott3370 70%of stats are made up on the spot 😁😅
How are there no jobs for ppl 50 or older. Smh lies 💀
More proof that the collapse is coming closer and closer.
THAT'S a great start. Any start, is better than NO action at all.

Transferring millions to other countries through aid is nothing but money laundering.
You can’t keep gentrifying people out of poor neighbours. Affordable housing is important to the general quality of life
Drugs, alcohol, and mental illness?? That describes damn near every NON-HOMELESS person.
My question is why a developed nation would leave their mentally ill on the streets..? I find that quite shocking to be honest..
And yet, vanessa m, there is one major difference...the non-homeless people have homes!

You can't be that naive. Plenty of people loose partners and don't end up on the streets. Also, why do you think her adult kids aren't helping her?
Wtf is wrong with people!? She was sweet, minding her own and taking care of her dog, going to great lengths to do so. And you have nothing better to do or say than dismiss her? So fucked.

Well, as I see that nothing is being done about this I think it's time to call the united States Coast guard
Tents and homeless are NORMAL unlike what the cop said. Many people are there of their own causes but others are there because of circumstances beyond their control.
And that number is less than 20%! The biggest problem is the 80% that don't want to leave the streets not the 20% that does want to leave it!
I volunteer as a street level outreach worker for many years and times throughout my life. As a runaway youth who lived on the streets of Canadian cities from coast to coast and as far north as Yellowknife NWT...this is what I know to be true and I have learned as a volunteer
Most people who live on the street are addicted to something yet the addiction is often secondary- a side effect of being homeless , feeling hopelessness and someone ( usually for their own twisted reasons ) introduces you drugs and or alcohol to bury the pain, stay warm, maybe to stay alert or awake when sleeping isn't safe etc.
They are under medicated and often thrown in jail when all other forms of control like meds are exhausted
The last group of people I met on the street while I was a runaway. These are the people who are in hiding from someone or something. They do not want to be found and so they lie about their name, who they are, their past etc. So not to be found they do not work, apply for housing, go to hospital when sick...some have warrants and are avoiding prison...they may be dangerous
As long as they keep their sites clean and don’t cause trouble then they should be left alone. I mean, where are they supposed to go??? 🤷🏻♀️
Agreed!
So if it was your property, business or area where your kids play you would be ok with piss, shit, drugs, needles, rats, puke, alcohol, trash and disease??? That’s ridiculous on top of crime no one wants that.
Kimberly Wilbanks no, he said if they keep it clean and don't cause problems. What you described is the exact opposite of that!

@Haley Tathem amen. These people need to help themselves. Rhier drug use and addiction is thier choice. Thier choices are not and shouldn't be societies problem.
Try helping them yourself first before asking others to.
Evolution is a dying Religion supported by tax dollars.

You're dad receives social security supplemental income which is a tax payer funded welfare program that gives adults money each month who never work a steady job, never worked enough to pay into ssi so they rest of us basically pay them for being lazy bums most of their adult life. What a wonderful Democrat shit hole state
The biggest hindrance to new housing and the ensuing high costs are due to over-regulation by the State/City/County. Keep voting for Dems and this will only get worse.
Umm, after a long long career in Banking/Mortgage/property development But I guess you know best?
The costs of building a low range home are too high, so why would a developer build a home that costs 150K and profit 20K? They are building 400K+ homes that show a profit at much much higher rates of return
I retired 7 years back at 52.. over 28 years dealing with these issues.. '
Cutting costs from the regulators will absolutely help in low to middle-income home pricing.

Someone must have thought of this already, so what am I missing?
it would never work . it would become over crowed , and implode .
Because that would be catering to and encouraging more homelessness and enough of that, let these drugged out spineless losers make their own way.
It is totally doable. It would be a lot cheaper than the current solutions and enforcement.

I was homeless, living in a tent. I wasn’t a drug addict. I probably drank more than I should, but I started drinking after I was homeless. I am an ER nurse now working on my bachelors degree. I’m open to any questions for anyone wanting to understand this “problem”
What is going on? Is it because of drugs and alcohol?
meg grotte, many times it’s because of a mix of things.

Jesus said if you call upon me I will answer and respond. Please know that you'll always have someone praying for you and that will never be back in the situation you had to overcome.
But I can tell you is that Jesus never causes the bad things that Satan and his demons. Of course we have free will to do what's right.

I did have a friend from Biola University who grew up homeless. And she eventually got her PhD I forget in what but she's done amazing things because of Jesus in her life.
Thankfully many years ago our family was able to get a home from Habitat for Humanity
I would be really interested to talk with you about families that are homeless because I know that there are many groups that are trying to build tiny homes for the homeless and to start communities.
If you know the enemy you can be a more effective nurse but if you know the Savior that you can overcome any darkness that walks into your hospital
just start with Jesus and if you have any questions related to any Christian bias that may have been spread through the stupid media please feel free to write me and I will have to leave respond or give you a voice message through MessI have studied every world religion in my life I have been oppressed demonically in ways you can imagine but I also know this because we went to church my family did not become a statistic we have never done drugs, alcohAnd to be honest we've have never been in jail or had children out of wedlock .
My brother has four children he is happily married he has he's a good husband and father my sister's happily married and she's in the Navy and has a wonderful life.
My other brother he's doing well but he's a little bit more worldly but many years ago I was watching The Simpsons and God told me that Mike and my dad would be fine this was about 10 years ago
oh one more thing even if you never decide that you want to follow Jesus I would still be happy to be your friend.

Its not KGW 8s place to solve social issues, thats the governments.
Shut the fuck up. Tell CNN or ABC to solve the problems then
And yet rent keeps getting higher and most property Management will only rent to you if you have a high credit score. When will it break even
and its interesting that its is happening within all sanctuary states, Was, Or & Cal, its the policy makers

Hi from Eagle Point
Portland was once a beautiful, amazing city. It has been ruined, and I don't think it's ever coming back.
Glad I left in 2004. Never regretted my decision.
@@Yooper_1980_at_Heart I haven't been back to Portland since I visited in early 2000s
Mr. Panda Someone needs to start killing Republicans!!!
Why are these areas so filthy. Pick up garbage &keep it clean.
too dumb for that.
Where are they going to put it? There's not a lot of trash cans.

ITS A CHOICE !
sweetnccarter welcome to the greed of capitalism
When my parents were illegal they didn’t take a dime from the government. They scrimped and saved worked hard. They relied on family and friends until they got on their feet. They met here, worked for 3 years, got married, had kids, Reagan offered amnesty, and the rest is history. Why did they manage without government help? Two reasons:
1) family (who were all doing the same thing they were) were able to help with housing (imagine seven 20 year olds sharing a home and bills) to start up with and childcare
2) cost of living was a billion times more reasonable.
Maybe because the illegals are willing to work?
I heard the illegals work and live 50 people in a Apartment.
I remember back in the 1980s in Detroit they gave poor families a free home it was a win win for the families and city the city got the property tax the families got a house.five years later most of the families lost their homes because they didn't pay their property tax. Not because they couldn't they wouldn't..
I can totally understand why they chose tents over shelters. Don't judge unless you have stayed in a shelter
Ive been homeless and a shelter in Portland. Smells like piss. Most these people dont want change. I did by changing what i did in 24hrs.
and it will get to be bigger as time goes on, so sad.
I wouldn't leave ,my dogs ,either.
Erick : They are ONLY considered LAZY if they own a PITBULL and Cell Phone...
Paul Monaco actually, the lazy ones are those sitting at daytime warming centers for 5-6 hours 5 days a week and bumming cigarettes off of other homeless who do actually hustle
HANNAH : I don't know if I should laugh, or be pissed because they are hustlers? THANKS for the heads-up.
People we must insist on paper ballots and fight for voter ID or this will only get worse.
Wait till the coming crash gets here, you have seen nothing!
100% True
That woman bitching about not feeling "safe" is in for a rude awakening.
Well maybe treating people like they are PEOPLE and helping them get housing might be a pretty good FKN solution... Duh!!
Cheryl Mailloux sure, who’s going to pay for that?
rthomas2471 you know, taxes should at least help cover some of this.
No one wants to help other human beings simply because they’re humans.
everycolourinthesky government already provides housing, it’s called section 8. Bought and paid for by the taxpayer.
@@everycolourinthesky "working people are obligated to pay for those you gave up"
What is section 8?

The steady rise of cost of living is the problem. Rent going to ridiculous prices bc of greed.
I have epilepsy myself, I feel for Willow, I know how hard it can be to have epilepsy and that on top of all her other issues.
Why is this issue growing ? one person Chucky Hales started/opened the flood gates allowing tents and hands off by the police by city commissioners, I posted this before the ending and revealing of KGW's revelation about Hales
Has anything changed since this aired
No. Worse.
Tent city Now! that is all USA needed. BTW those people can move to Detroit there are a lot of ghost towns in that half ruined city. enough empty houses.
WithAStick AngryWhiteMan - That is the best idea! Create jobs in Detroit & make them work. It's time to work! No more free ride!
WithAStick AngryWhiteMan obviously they don’t know the meaning of “survival is movement”.
yea but no heat.
Reality check they got homeless camps in Detroit just like LA and the city forbids the homeless occupying empty houses
Detroit another Democrat city...
Not to mention it's about $1000 a month for a small apartment and when your older it's even harder to find a job
Im from four years in the future and it gets beyond $2k now. Stay in 2020
My father was homeless, and after some time he could not adapt to living in a home. Sometimes it's to late. He died in a motel in 1988. He had drugs, and mental heath issues.
Sad😪. He must have had a bad child hood. Seems like that happens. It seems like he did ok with raising you ..
This is why tiny home zoning for low income areas would be a good solution.
It's been tried in CA a number of times but the NIMBYs wouldn't allow it.
Realtors are to blame for homelessness. They should not be able to sell homes to investors instead of homebuyers and should not be able to set rents or home values.
Totally agreed. Or it could be summed up in one word: greed.
