XO SKELETON 5 rummy nose tetras, 5 ember tetras, shrimp, a few snails, one SAE, a betta and two plattys. The plants list is: Anubias, hygrophilia, hygrophilia pinnatifida, rotala, Java fern windillov, Java fern, Java moss, bolbitus, riccia fluitans, Alternanthera Reineckii, ludwigia, cryptocoryne. There’s a couple others too but not sure if their names.

People keep bashing me for putting 12 tetras on a 5 gallon tank. I have a good filtration, and a pothos on the tank. I also have access to purified water as it is my business. I change water 50% after a week. They're thriving in any case.
Thank you for making this. I have a question: I had to take in an Albino Bristlenose Pleco from my niece, and giving it away isn't an option. They grow to about 4-5 inches and this one I have is still only about 2. I have it in a Fluval Flex 15 Gallon with a couple of guppies, a couple of corydoras and a snail. I've been doing two water changes a week, got 7 plants growing with some more clippings on the way, wash the filter about every two weeks, and Fluval biological cleaner that I throw in every two weeks. Unfortunately, there are no floating plants available in my area to use for bio-load reduction, but I'm interested in that potato/spider plant idea. At the same time, I feel like the Pleco needs some space to swim around so I can't overstock the tank **too** much with plants. Do you have any harm reduction recommendations for my predicament? I don't have room for a bigger tank and, again, adopting it out and giving it away isn't an option. I just want the little guy to have a good life given his limited area conditions.
I'm not the video creator but that doesn't sound that demanding in terms of bioload for a planted 15 gallon assuming your guppies don't reproduce. I wouldn't worry about it too much although the potato/spider or other plants growing out of the water is always good. BTW the pleco needs wood in the tank so try to get a small piece of driftwood into the tank when you can. Also corydoras really like to be in groups and they would be probably be a lot happier if you got a couple more (of the same species).
Using mangroves out of the top of your tank instead of pothos does well in brackish(it can go to full marine salinity) would probably be the first thing I’d try. Depending on how high the salinity you may also be able to do some marine macro algae in place of plants.
I have, per my pet stores suggestion because im new, 8 red eye tetras, 4 panda corys and 1 BN pleco. I have a 15g fluval flex. I think its overstocked now even though they said it will be fine. I have an extra bag of bio media in 1 of the filter chambers. My tank has been up for 3 months. The water quality is already poor and im sure its going to get worse as they grow. Do you think the filter will be able to handle this? I have 2 pcs driftwood but all else is fake. I use prime and stability every water chg 1/3 tank every week. 1/2 to 3/4 chg 1x month along with filter and pump cleaning. Extra bio media in the filter chamber. Any thoughts? Havent lost a fish...yet
Imo 15g would be fine for your tetras, but is really pushing it with corys, and is certainly too small for a bristlenose. Imo a bristlenose, when full grown, needs more like a 25+g tank
I realise this is slightly off topic but how do you manage to keep the algae out of your tanks? I have two tanks (one high tech and one low tech) plus my daughters bowl. My high tech has green hair algae which I’m constantly pulling out (those without a keen eye can’t see it but it’s always hiding amongst my moss). How do you stop it?
The Spiritual Fish Lad I have an Eheim canister filter but the inlet is covered to protect shrimp babies being sucked up. I clean the inlet sponge regularly though to prevent clogging. I also have a pump to help with the water flow.
I basically just stuck the plants into the HOB and let them grow in there but I wouldn't recommend that because the roots grew so crazy that they caused the filter to leak so just be careful lol
Ok well idk what to do i got green water i change water and filter pads every week and still green and i wouldnt want to be changing the filter pads every week i been having fish for more then 6 years now but i had to sell them all when i moved to idaho and i started over. Never had this problem what do i do i got 5 live plants and good filtration and air stone and ifk if i have too much air. Or too many fish but i never had this problem if i can send u this video
You can use a soap caddy with suction cups and place it below the outlet oh fill the caddy with lava rock which will act as a home for exta biological filtration
You don't need the "meat" of the potato, once you have a few inch sprouts just break them off and sit them in water until they grow roots. It won't grow new potatoes unless it's underground anyway as far as I know.
I have a 29 and a 20 and in 29 had 2 angel fish a large and a small one and 12 zebra danios but the large angelfidh died can i put the small angelfish and 12 zebra danios in my 20 long forever it has 6 platys 4 mollys dwarf gouromi its planted with water wisteris has pathos growing but not alot of it and are getting floating plants i think salvinia what it is called i also have a 40 gallin sponge filter on the 20 and if i did move them all to the 20 i would move my 50 gallon hang on back filter so I would have 70 gallons worth of filter in a 20 gallon

Fishes look healthy, but I'm not sure if they are happy. I was under the assumption from your video that tetras can live in cramped places, but just saw your comment..
lol i have a 16 gallon im putting 30 nano fishes in there idgaf, 1 inch rule my butt im not about to look at 10 fishes i bought a tank to put lots of fishes in it
@@fishkeepingfreak Chili Rasboras, Galaxy Rasbora, Ember Tetras, Green Neon Tetras, Black Neon Tetras, Neon Tetras, Rummy Nose Tetras these are some of my favorites lol. As long as you have an established tank and have strong filtration you can use Aqadvisor and see what how many fishes you can really put in there just be sensible about it. Like it says I can put 40+ neon tetras in a 16 gallon with a 70-100 gallon filtration plus plants to help, now that's very dumb to do but it's very possible. I really don't believe in the 1nch per gallon rule. But I'm also just a beginner. But yeah with Chili Rasboras, Strawberry Rasboras, Ember Tetras, they're so small with so little bio load that yeah you really can put a ton
@fishkeepingfreak you can have 20 cpd 5 Cory cats 1 bristle nose loads of shrimp and 10 neon tetras in a 15gallon with deep substrate, loads of plants and a filter with no problem
Totally over doing it with the plants, but to each his/her own. The key is to make sure that you cycle your tank. Get a Master Kit. Test your water. Never let nitrates exceed 20 ppm. If you have enough filtration and bio media you should never have any nitrite or ammonia. Keep it simple. Your tank should relieve stress...not be the cause of stress. Relax. Enjoy.
As you said, to each his/her own. Dense planting is far more efficient than only "filtration and bio media" at keeping parameters correct and far more beautiful to look at. And a great way of relieving stress.

What kind of fish? Chili rasboras? Im interested because im new to the hobby. I heard you can put 20 of those per every 5 gallons
