    Hi Wayne, I've recently purchased my $67 lifetime version assuming that creating videos would literally be drag and drop and presto master video! It took me about 10mins to realize that that was not going to happen, even after watching all the Doodly tutorials... so I set about looking for tutorials online and thankfully discovered yours.
    Thank you for your time and effort making these videos. Your indepth, detailed descriptions have given me the confidence to beging putting together my first video. Thank you so much for the super valuable information and guidance 🙏 I appreciate what you've created.

      Thank you for taking the time for such a wonderful comment. I empathize what you have gone through because I went through it as well. When I first started using doodly I found out the same exact thing that it is not as simple as drag-and-drop and there was a lot of skill that needed to be involved in making a doodle.
      Then I found out that I had to buy more stuff and more stuff and more stuff and felt like I was duped. To give you a comparison, we pay less than $300 a year for our Adobe subscription because our son is in school. I have over $550 invested in doodly. The Adobe series is far superior.
      So I set out on a journey to make these tutorials so that other people would not have to feel like I felt.
      Thank you for taking the time for the amazing comment and making me smile and making my day.

    Wayne Leiser I am completely blown away by your techniques and of course the professionalism and organization of your tutorials. As you indicated, some of these techniques are quite advanced and I'm sure I will have to watch the tutorial a few times to fully understand the illustration. Doodlers get a small glimpse of the amount of hard work that goes into just creating an effective doodle, but WOW --- your instructional videos take all that to a completely different level. What a fantastic asset you are to the application. Thanks for your hard work!

      Thank you so much. If you are interested, below is the path that was taken that brings us to your wonderful and thankful comment.
      When initially started, I was hit with buy this, buy that, spend spend spend spend... So I purchased... Enterprise, Rainbow, Club, etc...
      Then I started using the software and discovered how inadequate it was programmed. Then I was hit with more buy this, buy that... Spend spend spend spend.... Toonly, Voomly, Master Class
      The marketing group for Doodly is amazing... I would hire this team in a heartbeat. The developers... Meh... Not so much.
      So this left me feeling like I had been duped so I took a long road to take the skills that I did have and see how I could apply them to Doodly. I started looking for tutorials online to teach myself how to use Doodly and couldn't find any that were teaching any good techniques. I either found tutorials that sounded like uh... um.. wait... over here... no no.. back over here OR people that had good voice overs in their videos but were teaching really bad techniques like key framing in the timeline. I know they all meant well but none of them helped me. So I considered spending more money on the Master Class but then found a couple of videos I didn't agree with by Pamela Dimmick. Although the ending result of her items are beautiful and she is very talented, I didn't agree with the execution and techniques to get to those results such as trying to resize two images and place them on top of each other is a losing batlle in Doodly because of the awful resizing method it uses so I decided to not purchase the Master Class.
      (lol... Awesome... We just woke up in our household and my 11 year old son decided to turn on and watch this video right now... I love it.)
      So I started watching a LOT of people's doodles, everything I could watch; good, bad, excellent. I would sometimes take some of the doodles I considered bad design and recreate them and design a better solution and started commenting on everyone's doodles.
      At the same time, I was developing techniques to be used in Doodly for other effects. I saw some really bad techniques online for moving text so I decided to create my first tutorial for scrolling credits.
      If you watch this video, you can see I used really bad techniques myself for creating the video like not leaving enough time at the end of the scene. The information was there but the video creation was not done well as I was still learning Doodly at this point.
      I then tried to look for how to fade something out in Doodly and couldn't find it. I, once again, discovered really bad techniques teaching me how to key frame in the timeline using 3 different images created with different opacity making a video look laggy and unusable and just not a good technique overall to teach someone so I decided to create a technique for smooth fading in Doodly and created another tutorial. This tutorial was better than the first but took a lot of time to create and was just OK but not great. It still demonstrated the technique and displayed how to perform the action however.
      At the same time, I was learning TH-cam and figuring out how all this works.
      Being very critical of my own work, this spawned an entire series of late night 2am video creations.
      Helping a lot of people in the group, I discovered I was saying the same things over and over and over again. I decided to make the common mistakes video tutorial so I didn't have to keep saying those same things over and over and over. Now I point people to that, mistakes video tutorial. That one turned out pretty decent and I decided to add, beginner mistakes throughout the entire video so that people could re-watch the video and see what mistakes I put into the video or see if they could spot the mistakes.
      Then as I started helping people out with audio and images I decided to create video tutorials to explain about things that happened there. Meanwhile, while creating these videos I am discovering bugs in doodly, crashes, rendering issues, etc etc etc so I am including all of that in my videos when I run into and issues so people know not to do it.
      So, having made all the same mistakes that the beginners make and running into all the problems and rendering issues and bugs within Doodly and developing techniques around those issues, I think puts me into a perfect position to help other beginner doodlers.
      I started answering a ton of questions about end of scene time and seeing people using less than optimal exit animations and asking a lot of questions about scene transitions so I decided to embark on creating this video. Admittedly, I did not realize how vast of a subject I was beginning when I started this project. I was also a little ambitious but it turned out well because I have not created any videos that had a voice over while I was working. I had always created videos where I created the images and I could record the voice over first and then create the video around the voiceover. when you have a voice over while you're working you have to do it exactly the opposite and so this video was my introduction to that with my demonstrations where I show and explain how to accomplish some of the techniques used within the video for beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels.
      And this leads us to your comment. Thank you so much for the comment. It made me smile when I awoke in the morning.

      Another one will be added within the next couple of days. It's not a tutorial but is very helpful.
      It is very difficult to listen to the songs that come with Doodly so I created a video with 15s samples of each song Doodly comes with and am rendering that now.
      So if people want to listen to the songs, they can use this video. Additionally, people can send clients to this video to listen to the music so they can choose what music they like without having to sit then down at the Doodly software.

    I love watching your videos. What scares me is the amount of time it takes to put one together. 300 hours for a 46 minute, 20 second video? Ouch. I want to use Doodly to make snazzy videos for my class but I can't afford that sort of hours worked: video length ratio.

    • @SoloBoss
      @SoloBoss  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luckily you have people like me and Jen Johannsen that figure out how to make these effects and take the time to create these videos.
      We spend the time on these so that you don't have to spend that much time. She shows you how to make advanced effects but if you want the type of effects that I create in these videos such as the partial erasing or the blur effect then you have to spend the time to create the effect. However, as an educator, you really don't need to have those effects. I mention how much time it took me so that the viewers understand how much time it takes from start to finish that we put into these free video tutorials and the only thing we ask in return is to use the like, subscribe, share and buttons, make comments just like you did and that they allow the video to run until the end even if they put it on mute and open a new tab :D.
      Check out the ideas and the teachers in the Facebook group Doodly for Educators. There are about 4,500 educators in that group and I am sure one of them will give you some ideas. I hear most of them saying don't create a 45 minute lesson. Create an intro to get your class interested and catch their attention.
      If you watch the rest of my tutorials, I show you how to make the best out of Doodly so you can create wonderful videos in a few hours.

    You should rename this video to "watch this before your cancellation period for doodly is up. That's what I'm doing. Much appreciated. I do not have time to learn to make this useful, there are so many better tools out there.

    • @SoloBoss
      @SoloBoss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. There are a lot better tools but Doodly is not a video editing software suite. This video actually features how to make Doodly doing things for which it is not intended.
      I am happy to hear that you were able to get the information you needed to make an informed decision on the software as to whether it would work for you or not. That is the entire goal for my video series on this software; to provide tools for people that want to keep the software and videos for people to make a properly informed decision on whether to keep the software or not.

    I am thinking to buy $67 lifetime version. But I've seen many complaints that it is not fully function and need to buy more features. To ask doodler frankly, is it worth it to buy $67 lifetime?

    • @SoloBoss
      @SoloBoss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This highly depends on what you want to do with it and your skill level with software.
      The $67.00 version gets you the black and white images, music and sound effects but you can import your own images as well. If you want the Doodly provided colored images then another $67.00 is necessary to purchase the rainbow addon. You get bombarded with automatic upsell emails as soon as you purchase.
      Rendering is massively long. A very small doodle can take hours to render. There are a crazy amount of bugs in the software.
      If I knew then what I know now, I probably would not purchase the software.
      On the upside, I've seen some really creative things come out of the software from other doodlers and I've got tons of videos to which you can learn the software and I'm constantly creating more of them.
      If you are very skilled, you may not like the software. If you have no skills, this may be decent software as long as you are willing to accept the other issues I've mentioned.
      How this helps you make an educated decision.

I've tried to buy $200 headsets and recording microphones with and without noise cancelling technology and they sound horrible. I am screaming at the top of my lungs and you can barely hear me or they don't work as advertised. I end up returning all of them and rerecording the audio with my $22.00 Logitech headset. I've purchased both gaming and studio recording microphones/headsets to no avail.
      I've been trying to figure this out but the best I can do is record it in Adobe Audition and take out the snaps, microphone noise, background hum, the pops, lip smacks, heavy breathing and everything else it gets picked up by the microphone to try and make it sound better.

      The lifetime license gets you the basic version of Doodly with black and white images. You can upload your own images and create your own videos but don't expect a tremendous amount for the $67.00.
      You will put more money into it if you want the additions after purchasing the software.
      However to answer your question, yes you can put a watermark on your videos for only the $67.00 but everything is manual. You need to figure out how to use the software as that is not done natively. You have to upload your image and then change the opacity.

      There are a number of add-ons such as enterprise but enterprise only gets you more characters and for the past year I've not seen any enterprise only characters being added to Doodly. Any characters they've added have been added for everyone which makes buying enterprise kind of useless unless you want the additional characters.
