Nice review - great to see the Japanese routes get some attention. I like Hidaka Mainline a lot - the runs are peaceful and relaxing. There are some decent Workshop scenarios too.
In the mid 80's Japan's national railways ended the practice of attaching guards vans to freight trains. Some of the surplus guards vans are reused as shelters for rural stations like in 14:23 .
Great video! I would love to see a video of your favorite TS Classic routes. I haven’t played it a lot but as I’ve pretty much given up on any new TSW adding for now, I’m looking into getting some TS Classic routes.
I've had that idea before, but I don't know when or if I'll get around to making that video. Some of my favourite TS classic routes are as follows: Frankfurt U-Bahn The Esthwaite Branch Western Lines of Scotland One might guess that the Midland Line - Springfield to Aickens would be on that list as well, but it is spoiled by frequent lagging.
Around 9:00, you are correct. That is a ticket machine. I have used one IRL, as I live in Japan myself. Can you please do a review on Union Workshop's Tohoku High Speed and Main Line addon for Train Simulator?
The 'ticket machine' next to the driver is a fare collection box for driver only operated services. Boarding passengers take a ticket, on which is printed the name of the station where they board, out of the orange box above. When you detrain you drop the ticket along with the appropriate fare into the box. It also serves as a change machine which, which if I remember correctly, can take up to a 1,000 yen note so that you can drop the correct fare into the box. It is hinged so that at attended stations with manned ticket barriers, or when the cab is at the rear, or middle of a coupled set of cars the driver can fold it out of the way.

Soooo glad to see you finally reviewing Japanese train routes! Please do more!
Agreed.

I picked up the Tadimi line only last night at 55% off! €14 or so. Seems good value.
