I mean...how could that not be EVERYBODY'S reaction?? If you're not filled with unrestrained delight when surrounded by The Muppets you might as well just die already!
The story is the director wanted Rivers to smile more but he wouldn't but noticed the only time Rivers would was when he was looking at Kermit. So the director kept holding up Kermit off camera to get him to smile more and you can see it kinda working.
@@alecks00 i remember in pop-up video they said the only way they could get him to smile was to wave like a bird or a rubber chicken next to the camera or something
This has become one of my favorite music videos. Not because it's objectively one of the best music videos, but River's smile fills my heart with so much joy.
If I had a nickel for every time a Weezer music video had them appear on a TV show from the '70s, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
It's cool to see that Weezer, after having commercial success, didn't take themselves too seriously. I mean, if you can do a video with the Muppets, actually a very good performance on set, you must be quite confident that if it didn't go over well with fans, you still did what you wanted, the way you wanted too. Blending their music with a "tongue in cheek" approach to their videos has always been a staple of theirs. So, like their videos, these guys seem to have remained true to themselves when it comes to their song writing and their musical creativity. Which has lended, ultimately, to their loyal fanbase and extended success in album and ticket sales over the years.
Chris Lagann you muppet lover, people like you make me sick. Go with your puppet plush loving smex somewhere else. I'm not racist towards puppets, but people should stick with their kind.
Can you imagine how cool it would be to see Kermit the Frog wearing a shirt with your band's logo and rocking out to your music? I think that's the true measure of success
I love the very genuine smile Rivers has on his face reacting to the Muppets in this video. I can tell he felt the same way that I'd feel making a video with them, as if to say "wow, I've finally MADE it"
This song was a huge part of my childhood, and I never found it until years later. My dad would always play this song and music video, and it became one of those foggy memories that I only remembered bits & pieces. I remembered “hanging from the shelf” and muppets, and used my small knowledge to finally find this song.
I friggin' love Statler and Waldorf. "Hey, they ain't that bad!" "Nope, they're ALL bad!" ahahaha it's always good when a band can have a laugh at themselves.
Ms. Piggy's obsession with Patrick was so funny lmao, and when she was fighting Rivers for the spotlight I was dying shes such a diva and the band played off with the muppets so well
Every time I watch this video, and pretty much all the other music videos, I can't help but feel that they had a lot of fun while filming them! You can just imagine them laughing about the ideas and whatnot and it always makes me happy that they seem really happy about making music!
I've had forgotten how cute this video was. It's adorable. It's one of the cutest video ever. And, wow, the song is super cool and super good. I love weezer! I love Rivers' smile in the video, males me feel great... well, everything in the video makes me feel so nice :D It's seems they had such fun time making it.
Fun fact, the music video from 2002 marks the debut for Eric Jacobson as Miss Piggy and Fozzie since Frank Oz became a film director that so happened to retired recently.
No such thing as Weezer selling out... They've never given a fuck about fake rock coolness and posturing anyway. Having fun comes first and last 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
This is a really great song. The chorus melody is great and reminds me of a strong classic 60s hit song. I know Weezer like that doo-wop kind of chord progression but the melody in this is so good and strong.
damn man, weezer is such an awesome band. and I'm not saying this because they have muppets in this video, it's just because I haven't listened to them in a while and now I'm listening to this song, tilting my head and doing the beat with my foot. great.
How detailed the backstage scenery was recreated really impressed me. Even the window in the dressing room is exactly recreated. It's really impressive how much attention to detail the backstage area was made with! 😮
I saw these guys in concert twice last year. It was honestly some of the best times I've ever had at a live show and I've been to around 80 shows. You guys might also want to check out Alice Cooper performing School's Out and Welcome To My Nigtmare on the muppet show.
I love that river's reaction to having muppets near him is unrestrained delight

Rivers has aged amazingly well
