80's nostalgia has given Finn Wolfhard an acting career and a hefty bank account.
You can't have a name like "Finn Wolfhard" and not end up with some sort of epic entertainment career.

I am, which I find hilarious (but not in a mocking or condescending way.) The original version of this song was released when I was a freshman in high school, and all my friends whom I'd exchange Christmas gifts with wanted the a-ha album with this song on it for Christmas 1985. I never even knew of this version til today, 2024.0406. I texted it to my best friend from high school.
The video is great. The performance is great, and I can actually understand what the words are in this version.
It's timeless. I'm texting from 2035 and love it.
So let me get this straight, this is a video based on a song from the 80s and an actor who plays in a series that takes place in the 80s, and the band playing this is from the 90s, and their most popular song's music video was based on a series from the 70s that depicted life in the 50s, oh my God I need to lie down for a minute
Best thing I've read all day!

No one has mentioned this so far, but the "time capsule" house they're performing in is amazing: it really looks as if it were built in the early 1970s then furnished in the late 1970s/early 1980s which would fit a 1985 setting.
Yes everyone assumes the 80s was neon when it was actually very brown.
@@wezix That "neon" look was mostly in some nightclubs and some high-end stores. Most normal homes were a lot more sedate with their furnishings, especially in the early 1980s, which just kind of looked like a continuation of late 1970s blandness.
100% true. The neon, glass, brass, white look was very 80's modish but nearly everyone who wasn't rich was still living with furniture and colors from the 1970s. My parents had a brown, tan, and orange couch and their kitchen was still painted that popular 70s gold color until about 1993. The stuff that did look "80s" tended to be the things like clothing, linens, and other things that you replaced every few years. I totally had a denim jacket, high-tops, and a walkman but still went home and watched a 18in TV from about 1978.
My dad cba to redecorate when he moved into his place in 1999 and it was still that brown and beige aesthetic. He hasn't redecorated since in the living room, except to buy about a thousand owl figurines. Could be his house, if it were smaller
@@jamesrogers1554 It would be like a time traveler going back to 1929 and expecting normal homes to be all in that fancy chrome art deco look. Well, yeah, maybe in high-end apartments in NYC or Chicago or Hollywood but not in 99% of most people's houses. The 1980s didn't look like a neon-and-black Hollywood set in most normal houses and buildings.

Great job, Weezer! You honored the song extremely well. 😊😍
He was definitely a suppressed soul from earlier.
That weird looking guitar is made by Cassio (Yes the same people who make the calculators). And it goes for up to $3,000 USD to $4,000 USD.
It has a TON of settings to make it sound like other things, kinda like a keyboard in guitar form^^.
Weezer nailed a beautiful rendition of a great song! Thank you Gentlemen!
A 90s band covering a 80s song whos video features an actor born in 2002 whos from a show based on 80s scifi nostalgia!!! MIND BLOWN!
It's not exactly astrophysics or neurosurgery. This has been done before, with nostalgia for the '50s happening in the late '70s to mid '80s, and a lot of fashion and music cycling back through the references of every decade or so since the 1950s. Plus, Weezer dabbled in that, too: they had clips from a '70s show that referenced the 1950s: "Buddy Holly", with a Happy Days clip. Sorry- my mind is neither ironically nor sarcastically blown!
