Exactly haha I mean I can make all these reads to when I press pause and think about it for a second but this guys is making these reads in a fraction of a second live as everything is happening. Wild.
These are set plays with different variations that unfold in a tightly choreographed fashion. Doncic knows beforehand where the roll-man and the shooters are positioned or the positions they are moving towards. They have run this hundreds of times in training. In this sense he has distinctive advantage over us the viewers.
We get a helicopter view of the play, and 5 seconds to think. Luka does it on the floor in real-time. I'm not sure everyone understands how uniquely talented Luka is.
I got 5.5 out of 7. I definitely see how the read that Luka made was a better option in the situation, and will try to learn off it. Thanks for the video, Coach!
This is the thing with a lot of these plays, sometime you can go into a play knowing what your going to do, but most of these are great players reading and reacting to what the defense gives them. Respect ✊
here is the thing though, basketball is a game of options, unlimited options, I liked this a lot but there are many ways to approach different situations, I am so glad I found this channel though, when BBALL Breakdown hasn't posted in a while I can watch your stuff, keep it up the film breakdowns :)
Very true. There are certainly options. However, what is put in film can be proven which is why I formatted it this way in the first place with the explanations after each. It’s less about the actual plays and more about the actual factors that led Luka to make his choice. That’s the important part.
I seriously got all of them right no cheating even the ones where i figured it out myself but when in a game i feel like i get nervous or im not aware or im rushing. Do you have any tips?
I made every correct play. But is definitely easier from this point of view and u can watch the entire court comfortably from the couch. Its way harder to do the right olay while dribbling, being defended oe double team and avoid being tunnel visioned
Have Been telling people that “Pace” is more important than speed for a long time! You don’t need to separate from defender you just have to make the defense feel like you did so they rotate!!
I can make the reads, but that's because I've watched Lula so much and I have the added bonus of being able to pause and watch from an elevated bird's eye view. Luka is doing this in real time on the court at NBA speed.
Even when the action replay is paused it is hard to make the right decision. And he's capable of doing just that, in the blink of an eye, during game. In today fast paced game, having basketball IQ means more than size advantage or atleticism. And Luka is a perfect example.
Wow. Hard guy to read. His size allows him to change speeds and shoot runners through guys. Plays that would be bad iq for a steph or cp3 type, but because of his control and size he can make it happen. Great video
Luka is pretty clever but plays and good team movement open up a million possibilities. U should do this live and see how good ur at guessing his decision making.
Got first 2 and the last 2, those 3 in the middle were kinda weird, though overcomplicated the one with Baines.. #4 was INSANE though, that's some next-level stuff, so much so that even DFS misread it
@@VisionDrivenBasketball Fair enough, but that's bad defense from Baynes. Should have contested that layup once he knew that the angle for the pass to powell was dead. I still think that stopping at the elbow for a split second, then letting powell cut, which should clear the lane to give smith a wide open layup against correctly played defense, is the best play in this situation.
I got about 4, like Luka, I'm not the fastest guy but the last clip was similar to a situation I'd be put in, I'm a known shooter, but I also know as a basketball player and teammate that the goal is to get the best shot available
It really depends on Baynes reation. If he fully commits to Luka, there is an easy lob to Dwight Powell. Basically Baynes can only lose in this situation.
All of these are fundamentals, in Europe that's what we learn at like 12, its not even vision, these are the things coaches teach you, if you don't get 90% of these I would say you really bad at basketball or you never had a coach , also there are more options in the clips you chose than one, one of the options you didn't mention is at 3:36 on Luka's left a team-mate is cutting, him faking a shot would drag Oubre or Baynes to him or at least stop them on their track that would let the guy cutting have an open layup (Lebron is really good at that, also Duncan, and Dirk), but instead he attacked a well known defender, sure he got a bucket but it was not wide open, just saying, cool video tho, helps people that never had any coaching or average coaching in their lives.
Whenever I try to elevate on my shot the ball always seems to slip out of my hands I don't know if it whether my hands are to small or I don't know but can you please tell me how to fix it 🙏🏽
I only missed the easy bucket against the suns but I knew he was keeping it and the behind the back on the pistons but how do you predict someone going behind the back smooth as jelly like that? Lol
I think that the real difficulty here is to take those decisions at that speed, that's the difference between him and the rest
Pro since 12

the crazy thing is Luka probably had 0.5 seconds to make the decision on every play
We had 5 seconds to think and bird eye view
A lot of the time it’s easier in first person because you can see where the defender that’s guarding you hands are and how close they are to you

This is lit, similar to my IQ tests with the 5 seconds and 3 options 🤝
Just checked yours out bro, dope stuff. I like the way you format it.
@@VisionDrivenBasketball appreciate that man, I’m just a fan of you on here though 👊🏾
Could you make a video just like this one but on Steve Nash? He’s one of the best passers and scorers ever.
Good idea!
@@VisionDrivenBasketball Thanks man

Thanks Coach. I got 4/7
So glad I subbed
This quiz is super easy from our vantage point, but from his angle, it is crazy to spot
Cool!
YES THANK YOU SO MUCHHH 🏀💪🐐🔥 THIS IS FIRE I always wanted to read defense like Luka.
A Jokic version of this would be fantastic as well.
More videos like this great video 👍🏾
Love this video!!!! #MFFL!
This was a dope vid. I got 5 but I had would’ve thought he would take the pull up on Blake with the space not pull out that insane move lol
Missed 3 this time but the bait & kick was definitely my favorite play.
I got four right I missed the fourth and the last one
You should do more quizzes

Definitely will do
In 6:39 Luka knew that Dejounte was ready to defend underneath the rim.
I got 7 out of 7. A lot of my coaches and teammates say i play like Luka and Harden and i got the IQ of both of them on the court. Appreciate it💯
I love these analysis of high level of IQ basketball plays. I got 4/7 and pretty impressed on how I did compared to Chris Paul.
Can you please do one with Kyrie Irving
5/7 good stuff
With his shooting touch, any options would lead him to the score.
I'm having trouble sometimes understanding if a float dribble could be considered travelling. For example, at 5:54, is this close to being a travel?
Hey man an awesome vid
all right!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does “DFS” stand for?
On 3:43 he didn't see the best option, which was to hit finney smith for the backdoor cut.
Luka literally got a wide open layup...

Absolutely. Plays like a seasoned NBA vet.

I got perfect. I can be as good as Luka if I didn't take that wrench to my knee.
Coach I wanna ask a question , How do coaches know a player is a good defender or playing good defense ?
If that player is always in the right position and makes it difficult for their man to score or make plays for his team.

I was 5 for 7 is that good?
Do Nikola jokic next. He’s not a guard he mostly does his damage from the high post. It’ll be different
5/7
#3 was kinda weird, I'd probably have just popped the 3 cause Baynes was already walking backwards
#5 just Luka Magic bro...
After watching this video, my 2k skeelz improved
Well its hard to tell what this guy will decide to do because he can finish with every way possible

Modern Bird. He can score so easy

I went 4 for 7 which means im kinda play smart right
I got correct on all the reads, man can't believe I was right tho.
this test i think it wouldnt be effective at all cuz if u have no vision then cuz the view is the whole court not a person vision
Do James Harden next !!!
3 of 7
I got the one vs. the pistons wrong
Pleas do a video like this but with Chris Paul. ~ Nemo Lopez
Got all of them except for the Doncic layup and pass to Curry on the wing
3 were right😂 but even being wrong increased my Iq a lot
