I'm glad they didn't tear tthhe castle down but I wish it was older looking, more antiques, that kind of thing. But I bet the heating is better! Love the live music!!!!!

I so love English Country Houses, interiors and English Country Fashion Style! This is the perfect video for me. I just got a beautiful, sort-of Prince of Wales style wool tweed jacket (with a breathable lining!), that I’ll be wearing on my cold winter walks, pretending I’m actually in the beautiful English Countryside. My area of California doesn’t look all that different actually, it’s rolling, hilly dairy country (Marin County), except that we don’t have your beautiful old stone buildings (and the grasses turn gold in summer). I have been into English Country Style decor for decades and my home is decorated that way. Alas, it’s only Victorian, but that’s about as old as it gets here, except for a very few Spanish-style adobe mission churches and associated buildings. My collection of English Country Houses and their decor books is extensive, the result of a lifetime of collecting and enjoying. Some day I will see the real thing. My ancestors were from the Lyminge area in Kent.

When I was young, my family and I often used to visit a different manor house or stately home every weekend - we have a lot that are open to the public here. Now, many are hotels, like this one, so you can actually stay in one, which is so fabulous! XX

What a fabulous place! Having visited many stately homes in England, it is such a challenge for owners to keep them going. It is nice to see them turning into hotels, if a little sad for a bygone era.

I’m happy to correct my pronunciation of Sudeley Castle, American YTers say Sood-ley, and some UK ones, too.
A double error, once I saw the name written down on the sign, I realized it’s Studley Castle, not Sudeley Castle, which I still don’t know how to pronounce. Come to think of it I don’t know how to pronounce Lyminge, either! Even this native (US) English speaker can have difficulties with our crazy-inconsistent English spelling and punctuation. My only consolation is that English visitors have trouble with our local Spanish toponyms, but my Dad as a Spanish teacher, a clear advantage. Still US place names are even harder to get right, they can come from so many different languages, including thousands of native ones.
