Hi lovely friends. Are there any items that you are no longer wearing, that you are thinking of ditching? We'd love to have you share your thoughts in the comments below. Have a wonderful day/evening. Lots of love. Deirdre. XX
I am glad the "cut out" trend has passed, it was dreadful. My mom is 80 and she still wears her cigarette pants from the late 1950's! It is a beautiful look and I am so happy they're in again. Bring on the comfy sweaters, I am investing in a few cashmere tops to keep cozy. I love your content, thank you for sensible advice.
Loved this video. I think trends are ok if you have one or two items but contemporary and modern classic is so much nicer .. and lovey silk scarf is timeless. Just loved cigarette trousers .I need to donate some items .. less is more. .thankyou Deirdre ❤❤
I bought my first cashmere sweater at Kohls about 20 years ago. I still wear it, well I have to say it hung in my closet for a couple of the last years but I wore the heck out of it this year. If I counted them it would probably add up to about 50 cashmere sweaters and scarves. Buy them slightly big wash in tap water setting i.e the coldest water setting on your washer. They are the best investment and great prices just before and after Christmas.
I really enjoy your videos Deirdre. I've learned to shop my closet and buy additions confidently. I like how you don't just tell us what's out, you show us alternatives. Thank you 🥰
Thank you, Deidre! Although they have been a trend, I have never liked wide-legged jeans. I've given them the old college try, worn them once or twice and then donated them. So glad to hear they're sundowning.
Wide leg trousers actually make me look leaner and tall er I'm 5'3" Just need to try different styles of wide legs and make sure your top is a little more fitted! I have thicker legs and cigarette trousers not very becoming on my frame. Always enjoy your videos Deidre Thank you
I agree. Wide leg trousers, if well cut, are flattering on me too. We need to wear what suits our shape, not what someone else dictates. What flatters one shape, will not necessarily flatter another figure.
Love my cross body bags some days so going to keep wearing them. That said, also love my over arm totes too. Will use both depending on what I'm wearing.
So true about the wide leg jeans. I am petite too. And find a cigarette pants zo much more flatering. And as for jeans. I think the bootcut looks so much better on me than a wide leg jeans.
With respect, the Fairisle sweater has always been iconic classic. I have worn them and adored them since the 70s and they never look out of place. I would never categorize it as a fad, but rather a staple. A classic.
Burgundy is in every fall/winter. So ar the browns, beiged an tan, olives and army green are seasonless so depends on who you are. Individual or worldly.
I actually like wide leg jeans and pants. I'm short, 5ft. 3in. With the right top and proportions, your legs can look really long. I like a straight leg pant as well. Think I need a fair isle sweater.
Thank you for bringing in the various colours - and for mentioning that there are different nuances of burgundy so people might stop and think about what flatters them the most, rather than just running out for a classic burgundy! Oh, and that very bright fair isle sweater (was it coral or pink? It was on the screen for just a split second) looked AMAZING! I'm going to have to look for something like it ... or knit one! 🤩
I am glad the cut out jeans are out, as they looked sloppy. I love the wide leg pants/jeans. They are comfortable and flattering on my body (I’m 5’6 Wt 155 lbs.). I live in warm climate in the summer. The wide leg pants breathe. Now that it’s winter I got a thicker wide leg jean that keep me warm. The pants look great with chunky loafers. ❤
it is the wiser more intelligent thing to do *suluxy* , buy replicas and the money saved you can invest it in a business or keep it... at the end of the day, it is just a bag after all, a thing to put stuff in. And in this times of inflation and uncertainty it is always better to have money on hand.
cigarette pants definitely look better, if you have the legs to wear them. i was so happy the wide leg style has been in. i have lymphedema in my thighs, especially the left one, and finding pants that don't look just absolutely horrid on me has been hard until the wide legs came along. i also have a long torso, so the low rise skinny jeans that were in style for so long were a nightmare for me to find pants that fit. i guess i'll take this opportunity to buy up the wide leg pants on clearance and just keep rocking them!!
It’s always good to remember that style trends only work if they suit one’s body shape. The cropped sweater trend is not flattering on me, so I quietly avoid it, but I love the burgundy and chocolate trend.
I agree with cold shoulder tops are passé I never liked the look! Looked like someone bit into the clothing . I greatly enjoy your videos and your style!!! I look forward every time you post. You are beautiful inside and out.
GREAT VIDEO --- AGAIN!!! Two comments: First, I have a diamond ring from that company and have worn it for about three years now. It is still shiny and looks brand new. Second, well, I have two pairs of trouser jeans, dark wash, and black, and I am petite. I wear them with cropped jackets, and heeled ankle boots. They are really attractive, however, I have to watch the proportions. Other than that, I think the slimmer straight leg pants make us look taller. I also have mostly that type of leg pants in my wardrobe. Totally enjoy your videos!!
SOOOO right on what is old, tired and was never even really flattering! I'm so glad that cigarette pants are back! THey are so flattering to just about everyone. Thanks for this analysis! Spot on~!
I just stumbled onto your videos and I am so glad I did. Now I am binge watching. I am learning so much on styling, bottom loose/top close fitting and bottom slim/top loose. Who knew😂. You have inspired me. Thank you, looking forward to your weekly videos.
I have never found a wide leg jean that was flattering to my 5'6" hourglass profile. After ordering several, and wasting too much $$ on wide legs, sending them off to a thrift store, I found a "new" (to me) style that works much better for me: Column Straight Leg Jeans (mine, from COS, but there must be others). With far less volume on my bottom half, I found the proportion quite flattering (finally!) and a welcome addition to my jeans inventory.
Hi Angel. It can sometimes take time to find the "right" shape for our individual bodies, can't it? It sounds like you've found your perfect fit and cut. XX
I have not acquired the wide jean look either. I’m 5’0” tall and short-waisted too. I also struggle with the high waists that are everywhere these days.
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date as to what’s in and what’s out. That long camel coat is terrific! Going shopping for a long fab scarf. Have a good one Deirdre!🌺🌸
I’m petit but my torso isn’t short. I love the short sweaters and jackets but haven’t purchased any. I like to stay covered when I stretch my arms. Also if I buy a sweater or jacket I want to be warm instead of having a draft.
Hi Deirdre! I've never liked the cold shoulder tops! I recently bought some wide legs jeans (not too wide) and love them! I'm an inverted triangle and I find they balance out my shape. I'll be shopping for more! Great video!! Have a super week!! xx
Hi Celia. Lovely to hear from you. It really does depend on each person's proportions and individual shape as to what shape of jeans and trousers suit best. I hope you have a fantastic week too. XX
Goodness fashion changes so fast! I quess no real surprise. I’m Just getting my head around wide leg trousers 😅 though we run a season behind. ( New Zealand) we are into summer. But I’m taking on board and thinking about all your shared tips and knowledge. Thankyou.
I am SO thrilled to know that the wide leg pants are out because I refused to wear them but worried about being out of style! Even though I have narrow hips I feel the silhouette of tapering in to the ankle is more flattering than flaring out from the hip going all the way down. I am not thrilled to hear shorter sweaters and jackets are in because I have a pot belly and no waist so I will continue to wear the longer styles that skim over my thicker parts. (Oh and thank you for making me laugh out loud when you said "Sylvia" instead of silver, then gesturing to heaven when you said Sylvia was your aunt! It has been a hard couple of days so it felt so good to laugh - you are adorable!)
I always like bootleg jeans and trousers they are very flattering, never liked the wide leg, I’m not very tall and they just swamped me. Love the fair isle sweaters but I’m of an age where I get too hot so sadly can’t wear them but cardigans are ok. Thank you always love your videos ❤️
I love pullover sweater but haven’t been able to wear them for more than a decade. I need sweaters that can be ripped off in an instant when those hot flashes hit. 😔
Deirdre, I really appreciate all the planning and presentation you so regularly provide. Your sense of humour is a treat. Even though I’m out of season with your videos , I can plan ahead. Thank you
I love your channel, your fashion tips are so helpful. I farm, but any chance I get I try to keep up with fashion I take it. I aspire to be like Zsa Zsa Gabor from the classic Green Acres television show; she was a fashion diva on and off the show. 💃 👩🌾
For some reason I've never liked cold shoulder tops, I have tried them on and just didn't like how they looked on me. Didn't buy into the wide leg jeans either as I'm vertically challenged 😂😂. I have got a few pairs of wider leg trousers which are not too wide and bit more tailored (all from M&S in petite length) and I can get away with them but have to be careful what I wear on top or I just look like I'm wearing a couple of tents from Army Surplus 😳😂😂.
I am only 5ft and I have struggled for ages to get jeans that flatter my legs. I compare my legs to chicken drumsticks as my thighs bulge out at the side. I have tried so many different styles but recently bought a wide leg (not very wide though) they are from Fat Face and they are their Kentish crop in regular and are the perfect length for me. The legs skim over my 'probem', thighs. Thanks Deirdre for the tips.❤
Hi there. Yes, you have highlighted a good point: the styles we choose need to be right for us, individually. And, if you've found something that works, that's perfect. XX
In argument, Banana Republic and Free People are showing barrel leg jeans, 2025, I bought my first pair this winter and I find them to be stylish and versatile.
Love your videos! I will wear my wide leg jeans for a while paired w cropped sweaters. But I personally think dress pants should have a slimmer leg because that never goes out of style. I’m also happy to see fair isle sweaters back in style but do they ever truly go out of style? Some of the outdated items you mentioned should probably never have been worn.
Confidence in a purchase, was my Dale of Norway sweater, indeed a lifetime and when worn, men and women love the ever lasting sportive look. Love your ideas, Deidre. Indeed, it's time to dump the stuff, that is outdated but, My Dale sweater always gets The show Great!
I think "waterfall cardigans" were out about a minute after they came out. Pretty sure they will never be "in" again. I do like the long duster type cardigans and I've kept those in storage. I'm pretty sure they'll be coming around again fairly soon.
I didn't buy wideleg jeans at all, because I suggested that they won't " last long". And my tailored trousers and jeans are straight legged except one which has very moderate wide legs.
I was going to pass on the fair isle trend - since I have a larger chest and that neckline is so unflattering for me. But I actually came across a collared v neck one on sale online today so I am going to give it a chance.
I actually had a cold shoulder sweater and liked it very much. However I have to admit it's time has passed. It would look very dated now. Whereas the sweater you wore is timeless.
Wide leg pants were terrible on anyone under 5'6". So much excess fabric hanging off the body! At 5' 0", I would look like a clown. Glad I stuck to my cigarette pants and slim-straight full length pants. Thanks for another great video Deirdre. Give my best to Aunt Sylvia! Now she's famous! 😂
You know Deirdre you are always inclusive but some people who cover the same subject matter are quite sneering and as someone who has recently lost weight a lot yeah still in shock I'm getting used to my new shape so thank you ❤
@50FabulouswithMyFriendDeirdre I don't like commenting about negativity but there is one who I always think is negative but I don't think she realises it
I am 5’6 and a half, I still feel a bit frumpy in my wide leg jeans! Of course I waited to buy them as they were on their way out lol! I may wear them a few more times. I do like the straight leg pants. I just loved your burgundy skirt! I’ll be looking for one like it!! Thanks for the video I always look forward to them!!
I’m 5 foot four and I like my wide leg jeans but they are last years and not as extreme as the current ones in M and S etc. i bought some wide leg joggers from there this year and they are rather draughty! I am careful what I wear with both, shorter tops and fitted but not tight tops. I wear them with sneakers.
I love sweaters can’t wear them I suffer with hot flashes I have to layer my shirts and wear sweater that have buttons or zippers to take off if I feel like I’m burning.
Thank you for your "top" tips. I didn't really agree on the Faire Isle knitwear, as it makes one look larger across the shoulders/bust ..IMO 🤗 You always look beautiful though. ❤

r u able to purchase these in the US?
@@stephaniesalva9036 Hi there. Yes, I leave US as well as UK links in the video description for everything under this video. XX

I was going to pass on the fair isle trend - since I have a larger chest and that neckline is so unflattering for me. But I actually came across a collared v neck one on sale online today so I am going to give it a chance.
That sounds wonderful. XX
Love your videos!!! You make me laugh.... syvlia :)

Ha ha! I will give Sylvia your regards!! XX
Love the look of the cigarettetrousers, however my legs don’t fit in them. 😢
You can find ones with looser legs but still that tapered cut at the bottom. XX
You know Deirdre you are always inclusive but some people who cover the same subject matter are quite sneering and as someone who has recently lost weight a lot yeah still in shock I'm getting used to my new shape so thank you ❤
Aww, Marie, I’m so totally supportive of all women - brilliant work and lots of love to you xx
Thank you so much, Karen. XX
Thanks so much for sharing, Ruth. XX
I love sweaters can’t wear them I suffer with hot flashes I have to layer my shirts and wear sweater that have buttons or zippers to take off if I feel like I’m burning.
I totally understand this. It's having the feeling that you can breathe that's important, isn't it?! XX
love to see your videos
Not a wide leg fan , i did that look in my late teens 😂 early 20s i prefer straight legs now loved your video 😊❤️❤️
Thank you so much. XX
Thank you for your "top" tips. I didn't really agree on the Faire Isle knitwear, as it makes one look larger across the shoulders/bust ..IMO 🤗
You always look beautiful though. ❤
Can you wear a short jacket if you have an apple shape?
Really good video - thank you! I’ve been thinking recently I need more structured clothing as I feel I’m looking a bit sloppy.
