  • South Africa wants to host a Formula One race. The drivers want Africa to be included in the World Championship. Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie has met with the FIA and F1 leadership. Is it just a matter of when, and not if it will happen? eNCA’s Justin Ford brings us this report. #DStv403

Tell this country what the hosting fee is. Then can this minister explain to this country where this money will come from seeing that there is budget cuts all over national government departments.

Almost confirmed for '23 with a late pull out due to political stance disputes which I find ironic, looking at the other countries that are currently hosting. Anyway, I think it'll happen as it seems the funds were already given the green light.

      Exactly.
This newly appointed minister of BS already has track record of stepping in 'it because he doesn't have any facts & can't control himself when he talks to the media.

No, last time they were here THE LOCAL PROMOTER robbed everyone blind ... which is why the contract was cancelled and why government committed to not spending taxpayer money on waste-of-time events like F1 again.

South African's think the government has time for Formula 1, most South Africans don't even watch Formula 1, why would the government invest billions of rands in a once a year weekend sport event that most South Africans know nothing about? Where will the billions needed for this come from?
