Hey great video but think I found it too late as I spun mine on backwards and got tons of line twist...my question is can I fix it or cut it and toss it and start over? I'd hate to waste the line but don't need the headache while out fishing.
Jason, thanks for the comment. If you fish from a boat, I would let out most or all of the line just like you were trolling but with nothing on the end of the line. Reel it back in pinched between your fingers and all the twists should run out the end of the line. I have a couple of other vids on fishing line you might be interested in. Go to my channel then go to my Fishing Line playlist. This vid is more of a supplement to "Putting line on a spinning reel" vid from that playlist. Or search "putting line on a spinning reel, Knetters practical Outdoors" and you should come to it. Let me know how it works out, KPO.
It will be a complete cluster fuck. You’ll have to reel the handle backwards so your anti reverse will prevent your retrieval if it’s on. Reeking the correct way(forward) will let line out. When combined with not enough tension and a bad knot it’ll be a fun day on the lake. It’s a good thing I only had Bi-Mart spool up 6 reels for me today and just realizing at 7pm.
Pit Dawg, sometimes the CW and CCW talk can be a little confusing because it all depends on a persons reference point, but basically the line should come off the filler spool the same direction it goes on the reels spool (same direction the bail is spinning). So I believe the answer to your question is "yes". Definitely check out my "Putting line on a spinning reel" video. It will explain it a lot better. This video that you just watched is more of a supplement to that one. So check out "putting line on a spinning reel" and please ask if there are any more questions. Thanks for watching, KPO.
Holding your rod and reel in your hand look and see witch way the reel spins, most likely will spin left (counter clockwise), now make sure the line is coming off line spool counterclockwise
@@KnettersPracticalOutdoors you only did 3/4 of the test. The pencil through the spool should have been two ways. 1. Line off the top of the spool. 2. Line off the bottom of the spool. You only did one way and didnt mention which way you did. Do you have a video on choosing Braided line? Thanks...
I’ve done both ways and I’ve always had the least line twist when I had a screwdriver through it with someone holding light tension on it
No doubt it does work that way too.
Well done 👍🏻

Noted
nice video
Thanks for the support. It was a fun vid to do. KPO
So the line spool when laying down is spinning counter clock wise and the reel is also spinning counter clock wise also?

@@georgebinion2335 it all depends which way you are looking at the spool and real to determine
cw and ccw
